Episode 85: First Day

I reread through this series, my favorite after Code Naia, and just love it. The ending especially. I usually/always wrote a happy ending except for this one. Yes Xana was defeated but there was no more Aelita, Bosh, Sanne/Maya, Odd and Ulrich hated each other, Yumi was in Japan again, so different. The ending happened as it did, this is just a spin off not a continuation of that series. Well, here it is... I am writing this on the fly, no real plans like I normally do. If some thing changes then uh, blame it on the time loop/distortion.

Factory

After two more attacks, both minor, Jeremie has Ash coming back to Earth. "Are you ready, Ash?"

"Of course!" She smiles and waves at him from the monitor. "I greatly enjoyed the food you called breakfast yesterday."

"Well, today we'll be getting you ready to go to Kadic Academy." He looks up at her. "You'll be Odd's cousin from, uh, Australia? I forget where he said he is from." And it will keep Odd from going after her. Which, I don't know why I care. She's an AI, I think. Yet I am drawn to her. I've been drawn to her for years. "Ulrich and Odd are buying you some clothes and a suitcase."

"They are good friends! I wonder what they will pick out for me."

"No idea. Odd... Can be eccentric."

Mall

Odd holds up a shirt. It is black with a punk band logo on it. "I think she'll like this."

Ulrich rolls his eyes. "Why? She wears pink and blue, not that."

"That's what she was designed with." Odd adds it to a basket he carried with his left arm. "Find a twelve pack of boxers and under shirts."

"Boxers?"

Odd turns to him. "Unless you're gonna go over and buy her panties or thongs, we'll stick with boxers for now." Odd holds up a different shirt. "I don't know why, but I know she'll like this." He smiles. "Ulrich, I was wondering, Xana's symbol."

"What?"

"I've seen it. I've drawn it. For years. I never knew where it came from. I tried looking it up online and found nothing." He sees Ulrich's reaction. "You too, huh?"

"Yes. And, memories. Fighting possessed people with Yumi. Fighting on Lyoko against monsters we haven't seen."

"With a pink haired girl and blue haired boy. And a black haired guy too. Yeah, same memories." Odd pulls out another shirt. "Nope." He puts it back. "Jeremie says it might be because of the time travel thing he found on the computer."

"Which we still haven't done." Ulrich hasn't gone to get the boxers or under shirts as he gets caught up talking with Odd. "All those memories, could they be real? I mean, Yumi moved back to Japan when her dad lost his job here. Those other three, I think I recognize one of them. William, he was a grade above us."

"Dana! Ha, her brother. Wait," Odd pauses for a second. "Why would he be in the group but not her? Were we friends with him before?"

"Who knows." Ulrich sighs. "Time travel is probably weird. Who knows if it even works?"

Factory

Jeremie smiles as Ash steps off of the elevator. "Welcome back to Earth."

She takes a deep breath. "You are wearing cologne. Correct?"

"Uh, yes. Odd picked it out for me."

"Oh, it smells nice. Odd has good tastes." She cocks her head to the side. "Except, I know he is a friend. I know Ulrich is a friend."

"And?"

"You, I do not know. I feel, something. A draw to you." She takes a few steps closer to Jeremie. "It is a feeling I do not understand. When we talk I feel it. On Lyoko I still feel it. Do you know what it is?"

Jeremie blushes. "I'm not sure." He smiles weakly. "This is going to sound weird but I've been drawn to this place." He shakes his head. "No, you. I've come to the Factory for years on the same day. I finally figured out what to do with the computer and found you. Found why I was drawn here."

"Really?" He nods. "Wow. Thank you for taking the time to find me." She smiles. "Maybe we were drawn before? The time travel program. Maybe we should test it?"

"Yes. But, let me call Odd and Ulrich first. Let them know what I'm going to do."

"Very well."

Jeremie calls them, and then goes to the control panel. "How about, yesterday? Just after breakfast."

"Oh, then we could go to the mall! I know you said not to but I think it will be a good experience for me."

"Yes, well, as long as you talk softly and only to me, you should be okay." Jeremie looks up at the screen. "I guess, well, let's see if this works." He crosses his fingers as he presses the enter key.

Morning Before

Jeremie collapses to the ground next to Ash as more and more memories flood them both.

Ulrich grabs the sink in the boys bathroom as he falls. Memory after memory filling his mind.

Odd falls to the floor and Sissi catches him. "Odd! What's wrong?"

He is unable to speak as memories, years worth, flood him.

Memories...

Ulrich sees him and Yumi. She is on Lyoko, in Kadic, with him. Growing older, closer, fighting Xana and his many attacks. Freezing, boiling, blood and more.

Odd sees him and the blue haired boy cruising the mall for girls. Wearing clothes much like he had been picking out for Ash. They were best friends. They fought together on Lyoko, on Earth, and not always against Xana. Yet, no matter what, they were the best of friends.

Yumi curls up in bed, not knowing what is going on as she sees... dreams? Memories? Of monsters and demons. She sees Ulrich. Her old boyfriend. They were together. Much closer than before. She cries to herself as more memories hit her.

Jeremie sees... Death. So much death. Aelita screaming for him to run. A machine, no, she has to escape. "Take me!" He pulls a grenade out as the machine has cables reach down for him. "I love you, Aelita!"

Ash sees...

Minutes Later...

Jeremie gasps as the memories end. "We, it, we're going to die."

Ash smiles. "No, we're going to live."
