Dark Kingdom 63
"I borrowed one of your shirts," Diamond said casually as he came out of the bathroom. Just a minute sooner and he would have discovered their goings-on, Usagi thought with a high red head. She was still sitting in the same spot on the couch. Her midsection throbbed itself and Usagi forced herself to breathe evenly. "That's a $200 shirt," Mamoru replied coolly. He too was still standing in the same spot behind the couch, both hands resting on the backrest. I wonder if you could tell by looking at them. Diamond settled down on the opposite couch. Usagi didn't dare look up. She pressed her thighs together. The pressure alone was almost enough to make her groan again. "I think you can afford it.", Diamond gave his usual calm reply. "And what have you been doing for so long?" , he asked after a brief pause. Usagi inhaled audibly. Oh, no. He knew. He had to have seen her. "Are you serious?" , echoed Diamond in surprise. He knew it! "A hickey? How old are you guys? 12?" Usagi did look up now. And recognized a grinning Diamond, who had tied his damp shiny hair into a little ponytail. That made him seem much younger again. But that was probably also due to his liberated laugh. Usagi liked seeing him like that. Wait a minute. What had he said? A hickey? Intuitively, she touched her neck. The place where Mamoru had lightly bitten her earlier. It tingled, even hurt slightly when pressed. "Consider it a mark.", Mamoru said dryly, addressing Diamond. Touched Usagi's back as he did so, causing her to flinch briefly. Immediately, a pleasant shiver came over her again. It was crazy what Mamoru's immediate proximity did to her body. "And there's a tattoo for the wedding, or what?" , smirked Diamond. "If it keeps other men away.", Mamoru replied. What was this going to be? Another turf war? So slowly even Usagi found this more than silly. "It didn't seem to do any good with your ex-girlfriend," , Diamond sounded cynical. What, ex-girlfriend? What did he mean by that? Or better yet, who? Usagi turned to Mamoru. The latter fixed Diamond with an icy stare. The yakuza boss had crossed a line, clearly. Even Usagi shivered slightly at Mamoru's expression. "She doesn't know, does she?" , asked Diamond. He didn't seem the least bit intimidated. Instead, he even added, "Maybe someone should finally fill her in." "Don't you dare," Mamoru pressed out threateningly. He seemed incredibly tense, his fingers digging deep into the back of the chair. Usagi knew that any word too many could be the wrong thing to say. Still, her mouth seemed to open on its own, "Who's your ex-girlfriend? Do I know her?" , she asked softly. Mamoru didn't move, just looked down at her from his position. Apparently, she had now brought his anger upon herself. A moment ago she was so close to him, and now she wanted most to shrink and take refuge in the gap between the sofa cushions in a hurry. "What do you want to know for?" , he asked harshly. Usagi just shrugged her shoulders. Certainly not to have coffee with her. You should know your opponent, yes. But in theory, she just wanted a face she could picture. "Diamond. Go home.", Mamoru said suddenly, not taking his eyes off her. "Why? I just find this extremely...", Diamond began, but was interrupted when Mamoru finally did look directly at him. It was still fascinating to watch the two of them, despite the almost palpable tension in the air. They were like two wolves, always provoking each other, sneaking around each other. Always on the verge of attacking. "And if I don't?" The white wolf bared its teeth. Although Mamoru said nothing, even Usagi knew that this heruas challenging question was one step too many. She stared at Diamond, frowning. Either he was tired of living or simply unaware of his situation. "You can take the BMW. Sapphire doesn't know it yet." Mamoru answered instead. For him, this discussion seemed to be over. His opposite had finally realized this as well and rose with a sigh. "I'll send you a message as soon as I know anything." ,he declared, slipping on his shoes and grabbing the car keys from the dresser in the hallway. Before closing the door behind him, he turned back and said with a serious face, "Take care of her." Usagi continued to stare for quite a while at the spot where Diamond had been a moment ago.
