Chapter 63: The Fox Queens
It was a quiet day on Acmetropolis. Nothing much was going on, given how there wasn't a crime alert. The citizens were fine with this, knowing that the Loonatics needed some time off from fighting bad guys. The six superheroes were the city's protectors, but they couldn't always be there. It was a fact that everyone knew. However, on that day, the team would be brought back into action.
Out from the sky came a ship that looked like a fox. When it landed, the people of Acmetropolis were astonished. Some were even running away in fear. That was until the ship opened up, revealing the two aliens who owned it. The aliens resembled two fox vixens, but they had bizarre fur colors. The first fox had green fur while the second one had purple fur. They were wearing dresses with skirts that went down to their knees, necklaces with rubies studded in them, and golden tiaras.
"People of Acmetropolis," the green vixen spoke, "we mean you no harm. However, we are the Queens of our home planet, Kitsune, and we have come to conquer this planet. I am Vulpino."
"And I am Vixenus." The purple vixen introduced herself. "We have come to this planet in order to search for our Kings. So offer us two men who would make excellent husbands."
The citizens began to run off screaming, which revealed the Loonatics among the crowd. The six superheroes walked towards the two Queens of Kitsune, being cautious as they did so.
"What's up, Doc?" Ace greeted.
"We are in search of two men to call our Kings." Vixenus stated.
"If you're looking for a King, you've got one right here!" Duck arrogantly said. "I'll be your King, your Majesty!"
"A waterfowl?!" Vulpino asked.
"He wants to be one of our Kings?!" Vixenus had a quizzical look on her face.
The two aliens begun laughing, which made Duck blush in embarrassment. Slam put a comforting arm around the waterfowl, letting out a grumble as he did so.
"Don't remind me, Slam." Duck looked down.
"If Duck isn't who you would want as a King," Lexi spoke, "then who would you take for a King?"
Vulpino and Vixenus looked at Ace and Tech.
"How about those two?" Vixenus asked.
"Ace and Tech?" Lexi was surprised.
"Yes, they will be our Kings." Vulpino stated.
"No-way!" Rev came up to the two aliens. "Tech-is-taken-you-crazy-foxes!"
"Easy Rev, I'm sure that there's another option." Tech put his hand on the roadrunner's shoulder.
"Nope!" Vixenus grabbed Tech.
"Now come, our wedding will be tonight!" Vulpino said as she grabbed Ace, joining her fellow Queen as they took him and Tech into the ship. The remaining four Loonatics looked at each other in shock.
"Those-invaders-are-going-to-force-Ace-and-Tech-to-be-their-husbands!" Rev cried.
"Let's not be tense, Rev." Duck stated. "Ace and Tech are going to become Kings of planet Kitsune, so they'll be revered."
"Planet Kitsune?" A familiar voice asked.
The remaining four Loonatics saw Zadavia walking towards them.
"Zadavia, you've heard of that planet?" Lexi asked.
"Yes," Zadavia answered, "and I have some bad news."
"Bad news?" Slam asked.
"What's the bad news?" Duck asked.
"When a King is chosen for Kitsune, he is given a device that prevents him from leaving the planet while it drains his energy." Zadavia said. "If Ace and Tech marry Queen Vulpino and Queen Vixenus, they won't just be prisoners of love, they'll be hosts to a parasite."
"Then we have to stop the wedding!" Lexi said.
"Such a thing is not possible unless the Queens of Kitsune see another male who catches their eye." She stated.
"Where-will-we-find-a-guy-like-that?" Rev asked. "Who-would-be-willing-to-marry-two-crazy-foxes?"
Lexi, Duck, and Slam looked at the roadrunner.
"I think we just found him." Duck smiled.
Meanwhile, Ace and Tech were waiting outside of City Hall. The two were going to be married at any second, but they didn't want to go through with the ceremony.
"This is absurd!" Tech cried. "We can't get married to those two! Not only am I taken, but you have a bachelorhood to look forward to!"
"Calm down, buddy," Ace said, "I'm sure that the others will be here."
True to Ace's word, Rev zipped up to them.
"Rev, you're here!" Tech said in excitement.
"I'm-here-alright!" Rev said. "I'm-here-to-save-you-guys!"
"How will you save us?" The green coyote asked.
"Just-watch-and-learn." The roadrunner said as he opened the door and walked into City Hall. Inside the building were Vulpino and Vixenus, who were surprised by his entry.
"Where are our new Kings-to-be?" Vulpino asked.
"I-am-someone-better-for-you." Rev bowed.
"Really? How?" Vixenus scoffed.
"I-am-a-man-who-is-willing-to-rule-over-the-citizens-of-Kitsune-with-the-two-of-you-until-my-time-of-death." The roadrunner said. "Now-then-will-you-join-me-in-holy-matrimony-and-marry-me?"
"Sure." Vixenus said.
"Why not?" Vulpino spoke.
The Queens of Kitsune approached Rev, encasing him in a hug. As they did that, the roadrunner seized the opportunity to grab a device that was in Vulpino's back pocket.
"Til-death-do-we-part!" Rev shouted as he freed himself of the embrace, taking the device with him.
"Give that back!" Vixenus cried.
"So-this-is-the-device-you-use-to-keep-your-husbands-prisoner-and-drain-their-life-force-with?" Rev looked at the gadget in his hands.
"Hand it over, roadrunner!" Vulpino shouted.
"No-one-keeps-my-friends-prisoner-and-drains-them-of-their-life-energy-on-my-watch!" He said as he threw the device to the floor, stomping on it for good measure. Without warning, Vixenus and Vulpino roared before exploding into dust. After that, Ace and Tech walked up to Rev.
"Nice one, Rev." Ace said.
"All-in-a-day's-work." Rev said. "Now-let's-get-out-of-here."
"Agreed, the others must be worried about us." Tech stated as he walked out of City Hall with the other two. As they walked back to HQ, Rev approached Tech.
"What is it?" The coyote asked.
Tech wound up receiving a kiss from Rev, which made him blush a little. Ace smiled at them, being happy for the coyote and the roadrunner. The three Loonatics continued to walk back to HQ, letting nothing else bother them. Once they got back, the team had Rev to thank. Not only did he prevent a forced wedding, but he also saved Ace and Tech from becoming slaves to a parasitic device. The six were at peace again.
