Hey guys! This ones abit of a fun/cute chapter, enjoy!
Two weeks had passed, it had been a day past their second obgyn visit and everything was still okay with the baby. Jay sometimes worried about Erin, she wouldn't really talk about being pregnant like she did when she was pregnant with Jake but he didn't question it, this was just her way of dealing with it. She wasn't upset or shutting him out or anything so he told himself to just let it go and she would accept it when she knew it felt okay too.
Lily had been in her big girl bed for just over a week now, let's just say many nights out of that time she'd be up and making a visit into her parents room at any hour in the morning. It worried Jay more then it did Erin, she just kept telling him that all they can do is get up and put her back to bed and praise her when she stays there. And she knew that if she stayed there all night she'd get a treat the next day. Erin didn't like the thought of bribing their daughter but she was the one doing reasonable hours unlike Jay.
Jay had been working crazy hours these last couple weeks, he had no idea why. Apparently every single criminal just wanted to get caught at the same time apparently. But he loved his job so he always just pushed through. But he also loved his girls and he especially loved interrupted sleep, even though he could never be upset with Lily sometimes but after night after night, all he wanted was to go to sleep and wake up uninterrupted. But who was he kidding? This was the joy of having children and he wouldn't give it up for anything.
Since he was up earlier then usual after putting Lily back in her own bed once again Jay decided to double up on working out this morning, so he got Zeus and went for an extra long jog.
Erin woke up to Lily poking her arm, "Mummy?"
She groggily wiped her eyes as she looked at the clock, noticing it was her actual wake up time, "Yes sweetheart?"
"Daddy and Zeze aren't here." Zeze being the nickname she'd given to Zeus.
Erin looked to Jays bedside table and noticed he had written a note or anything, maybe he left one on the kitchen counter. She sat up and smiled at her daughter inviting her for a quick morning cuddle, "How about a quick cuddle and then we will go find out where they are hm?"
"Okay mummy." Lily said cuddling her mum.
After a few minutes Lily of course started to fidget and wanted to get up and begin her day, but first she wanted to know where the other members of the family were, "Let's go get some breakfast and I will call daddy."
Erin carried Lily out to the kitchen and sat her in her high chair, serving her some fruit Jay had already cut up out of the fridge and her usual oatmeal.
She then proceeded to look around for some type of note but frowned when she couldn't find one, which was unusual, no matter where he went and how long he'd be he always left a note for her.
She went back to their bedroom quickly to grab her phone, quickly dialling his number. She assumed he was out with Zeus on a run but he was always usually back by now.
"Hello, you've reached Detective Jay Halstead, please leave me a message and I will get back to you."
This caused her to frown even more, maybe he did go for a run but then something happened. Why wouldn't he answer his phone? He was always making sure it was charged because his one pet hate was when someone's phone went flat.
She suddenly smiled when she heard her phone ringing and she looked at the caller ID.
"You had me worried for a sec."
"Good morning to you too. I just tried ringing but it went straight to message bank, I'm assuming you were trying to ring me aswell?"
"Mmhmm."
"Why were you worried? I'm just out for a run, noticed the time and knew you'd be up with Lily any minute so thought I'd ring to say I was nearly home."
"Because you didn't leave a note. You always leave a note."
"Sorry babe I completely spaced, I left the house at like five."
"You've been gone for like two and a half hours? What if something were to happen?"
"Babe all the note would have said was I'm out for a run, you wouldn't have known how long for and where I was going anyway."
"It's not the point Jay."
"I really don't know what the big deal is. I couldn't get back to sleep after putting Lily down for the hundredth time so I thought I'd go for an extra long run."
"So now it's Lily's fault that you didn't leave a note?"
"What? I didn't say that."
"Sure sounded like it."
"You know what I'm nearly home let's just talk then."
Before Erin could say anything else he hung up. Straight away she knew she was overreacting and he was right. Stupid pregnancy hormones making a mountain out of a molehill.
She turned to face her daughter who was finishing the last piece of her fruit, "What about some oatmeal munchkin?"
"Daddy home soon?"
"Yeah he will be home soon," Erin smiled and started serving Lily's oatmeal into the bowl. Before she could add any other ingredients she heard the door open and little pitta patta footprints on the floor boards, "Hey boy."
Zeus definitely was a great surprise even though she didn't like the thought to begin with. He was well behaved and even on the hardest days he could put a smile on your face. Humans really don't know the gifts of dogs until they have one.
She gave him a couple treats before she got back to Lily's food, heating it up in the microwave a little before giving it to her.
Erin frowned when Jay didn't walk into the kitchen straight away, he walked straight up the steps to shower she assumed. And wrap his head around her outburst.
"Zeze!" Lily squealed as she chuckled some banana on the ground hoping Zeus would eat it.
"Lily don't feed him, he doesn't like banana and that's yours to eat," Lily nodded but once Erin's head was turned back onto the dishes she done it again, this time a couple extra pieces followed with some oatmeal, "Lillian!"
Lily froze in her spot, "Sorry mummy," she looked down silently then back up when she heard other footsteps, "Daddy!"
"Hey munchkin," He walked over and gave her a kiss on the head, then looked down at all the food and Erin who suddenly came over with a couple wipes to clean it up, "What's going on here."
"She decided she wanted to feed Zeus this morning, even though he doesn't eat banana or oatmeal."
"Lily we talked about this, you gotta eat your food that mummy gives you. Gotta grow big and strong." Jay said looked down at Lily.
She nodded then raised her arms up, "Daddy out."
He lifted her out then put her down watching her run off to play with her toys that were scattered all over the living room floor.
"She hadn't even finished her breakfast Jay." Erin said annoyed.
"Sorry, I will go get her to eat it." He picked the bowl up.
"So she gets it all over the lounge and floor in the living room great." Erin said annoyed once again as she walked off.
"I will feed it to her, Erin what is going on. Why are you busting my balls today? Did I do something wrong? I'm sorry I didn't write a note, I'm sorry okay. I'm exhausted, it's the last thing I thought of. I'm always sorry for letting Lily out before she was done eating but I don't get the big deal..."
"I'm sorry," Erin said cutting him off, "I didn't mean to overreact and I didn't mean to be a bitch. I'm exhausted too, guess it's just all catching up."
"Your also pregnant so I'm assuming these are just the start of the hormonal outbursts your going to have?" He chuckled a little getting Erin to smile a little.
"I really don't want to blame it on the hormones Jay."
"Then blame it on our toddler for going through her terrible twos and preventing us from a normal nights sleep." They both chuckled as Jay bought her in for a hug.
"Now can I go feed her? Promise to hold onto the spoon the entire time so she doesn't make a mess anywhere."
"Okay."
Thankfully Jay had the weekend off so after getting Lily to eventually eat her breakfast then get her ready for the day he decided to go play around in the backyard with her and Zeus while Erin done some cleaning inside. Having Lily out of the house was the only way to get the house clean sometimes.
Erin was interrupted by a knock at the door. She grabbed the cookies she'd baked out of the oven then walked over to answer the door, "Good-afternoon Will, what brings you around?"
"Hey Erin, rang Jay and he said you guys had the weekend off, thought I'd come see that niece of mine." He explained as he followed Erin into the house.
"I'm started to feel offended that you never actually some to visit us only Lily."
They both chuckled, "What can I say you and Jay made a cute kid and she has her uncle wrapped around her finger."
"She has everyone wrapped around her finger," Erin said then quickly swatted Wills hand away from the freshly baked cookies, "Don't even! They need to cool first."
"Since when do you bake?"
Erin rolled her eyes, "I can bake you know."
"Don't you usually burn things or set things on fire? Thankgod your not a firefighter and choose being a cop instead." Will chuckled as Jay and Lily walked inside.
"Hey bro." Jay said giving his brother a hug.
"Uncie Will!" Lily screamed and was quickly picked up by Will and tossed in the air causing her to giggle.
Jay looked towards the fresh cookies on the bench, "Cookies? Huh, they aren't burnt your learning."
"Told you." Will added.
"You know what, no cookies for both of you." Erin said as she grabbed the cookies and walked to the other side of the kitchen.
"Oh man look what you did now." Will said to his brother.
"You started it."
"You boys are ridiculous," Erin laughed, "What you reckon Lil?"
Lily nodded, "Yes mummy."
"See she is smart."
"She's also turning into a clone of you Erin, barely looks like Jay anymore." Will said looking his niece over.
"Still has Jays eyes though. She's going to make boys weak at the knees when she's old enough." Both Jay and Will shot Erin a look.
"Don't even go there Erin." Jay said sternly not wanting to think about his daughter growing up.
"Ahh I love winding you up. So Will you staying for lunch? Or how about we go out for lunch? Take this one to get some burgers?" Erin suggested.
"Yeah let's do it, you guys don't get out enough." Will agreed.
"Seeings though your coming Will you get the privilege of chasing this devil around if she doesn't want to sit still." Jay smiled.
"Wha...But."
"I was up six times last night it is the least you can do." Jay said as he patted Will on the shoulder.
"Really six times? Why?"
"This little one likes visiting mummy and daddy during the night don't you munchkin." Jay squeezed Lily's cheek.
"Daddy." She said reaching out for her father.
He grabbed her then noticed Erin walking towards them holding Lily's baby bag and wheeling the stroller, "Ready?"
"Can we atleast have a cookie now?" Will said with puppy dog eyes.
"Your ridiculous," she laughed, "Fine but only one."
