Hello! It has been a very long time since I posted. I am sorry. Many things happened. long story short is that I was being bullied at work and I just sent the messages to HR and now she cannot talk to me anymore. I will now be drama free and at peace. I also managed to fall through a rotten floor helping do disaster relief for a Flood, but no worries. I only sustained very minor bruises and the knowledge of what it looks like mentally to see white when you hit your head hard enough on the wall. lol. I also went to Georgia for a week and my mom came up from Texas to visit so its been busy. (She does not read this, what a terrifying thought). It always makes me wonder what the parents of horror movie creators think about their kids careers if they hate horror movies or if they watch them anyway. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy this chapter! and as always come join us on discord(especially Nya, Sansa, Anonymouse, and Momo!) /k44kus4z9X Everyone is welcome, but y'all have been here a memorable amount :D :D :D This has been a really long authors note, I am so sorry, Enjoy the chapter!
"well, little one, what have you for me?" Tar-Mairon asked steepling his fingers under his chin with his golden gaze sparkling and warm with dancing flames. I gripped the arms of my chair and glanced around feeling panic.
"I have learned.." I began before trailing off and trying to think if he had told me anything critical and then trying to start "I have learned..". I closed my eyes sucking in a breath.
"any new knowledge Airawende" Tar-Mairon reminded with a small smile.
"There was a kinslaying?" I blurted out making it sound like a question. I winced at my tone.
"I am well aware of the kinslaying" Tar-Mairon said flames flickering warmly in the candles.
"You didn't say new to you and that is news to me" I nearly shouted in fright the words rushing out of me.
"No, I did not" he said smiling "but do lower your voice. I despise mindless panic. Incoherency is never acceptable."
"Sorry, Tar-Mairon" I squeaked out.
"forgiven" he smiled benevolently at me. I gave a timid smile back despite being frightened of him. He was as frightening as Gothmog, but in a different way. Gothmog would hurt or kill you, but Tar-Mairon could make do you anything with a few words. Though I'm sure Tar-Mairon is as capable of violence as Gothmog because of how he broke Haldamire's bones, but its much less apparent.
I shifted my view to the door at Tar-Mairon's "Come in Langon" with a wary expression. Trouble seems to follow after Langon whenever he shows up.
"I have unpleasant news but not unexpected" came Langon's silky tenor as he approached Tar-Mairon. His eyes were something that I could never get used to no matter how much I looked at them. It's like there is nothing there. No emotion. No feelings. Just endless black. He winked at me and I scowled back before catching Tar-Mairon's gaze and immediately smoothing out my features. He leaned over to whisper in Tar-Mairon's ear, and I frowned. I wanted to know what was going on. He nodded expressionlessly at whatever Langon told him.
"what will you do?" Langon asked almost like he was trying to provoke an action from Tar-Mairon.
"as of now, nothing. I always play the long game Langon" Tar-Mairon said with a bright smile that seemed downright terrifying.
"Our master knows about it. He loves internal conflict, but not among his lieutenants when we are in war" Langon said appraisingly.
"He does not care about them in so far as they are useless. Unique yes, but to him, useless. Until I have them prepared enough to withstand his mind grip without falling into madness then he will not care what happens to either one of them so long as they do not die." Tar-Mairon said thoughtfully looking up at Langon.
"but if the court was thrown into turmoil when we have the Noldor camped by Lake Mithrim then perhaps an intervention" Langon suggested.
"Do not be so foolish Langon!" Tar-Mairon said with an edge of darkness in his tone "you do not want his intervention, or even a hint of attention, on this matter. Not until I have reasonable expectation of coming out better for it". Langon and Tar-Mairon looked at each other silently after that and I couldn't help but wonder if they were still communicating.
I looked between the two while feeling apprehensive and confused, but also wanting Tar-Mairon to explain to me what exactly Haldamire and I were. He had said that he would if I gave him new knowledge. Couldn't Langon just leave already? I'd glare at him if I wasn't afraid of retribution.
"Go tell Thuringwethil to keep an open ear for whatever whisperings come of this" Tar-Mairon said finally tapping his fingers thoughtfully. Langon nodded and turned. I jumped back feeling the tips of fingers brush my cheek and swore I could hear him laughing at my shock as he left. Gothmog would have murdered on the spot for that. He was significantly cooler than Gothmog physically, but I'm sure most are. Maybe not his brothers. I wasn't sure and I hoped I never ran into any of them again.
"Do you have a question, young one?" Tar-Mairon asked with golden gaze emotionless. Almost like the fire in them had banked and was smoking with the promise of an explosive inferno. Something told me that whatever Langon told him was not good.
"You said you would tell me what we are" I said feeling dazed and like I was talking without actually telling myself to talk. Tar-Mairon could just pull questions right out of you.
"you are an aonomly" Tar-Mairon said with an devious smile "from somewhere unknown. Yet with the fate of Men. Fortunately, for you, we have taken that fate from you. Still an anomaly, but not a mortal anomly."
"What is Men and what does their fate mean? I don't understand. How could you stop us from dying" I said plainly trying to get some understanding.
"A difficult thing indeed. To halt death indefinitely" Tar-Mairon said smiling even wider with his golden gaze bright. He seemed fascinated by the very topic and what he had done.
"how did you do it? And why do you have that power? What are you? I can understand this language enough for those answers now" I asked barely restraining myself from a demanding or pleading tone.
"No, you don't" Tar-Mairon said waving an uncaring hand "This language is not adequate to explain everything that I am or what Gothmog and Langon are. Much less explain what I have done to you both" I opened my mouth to object, but he shook his head slightly and continued "however you may be able to possess a suitable comprehension. Haldamire has proven she can, but she is not so impetuous." I scowled slightly at his words wondering if he was trying to imply that I was stupid.
"My kind" he said emphasizing his words "helped create the world. Remember child, I have told you this before, but you did not listen, believe, or retain my words. With music" He seemed amused by me and I was trying not to completely disregard the fact he said he helped create the world with music. Utterly ridiculous that music created the world. I knew science. Know science. Tar-Mairon might have powers that defy the norm of physics and this place might too, but to consider the entire world and universe this way was nonsensical. "You are not ready to hear, little one" Tar-Mairon sighed sounding faintly annoyed, amused, and exasperated all in one. I was trying to maintain a serene face, but I must not be good at hiding my emotions.
"Mairon, my admirable lieutenant still, I come." I nearly fell out of my chair in terror at the sudden words that seemed to pass through the very air, but with no tangible sound. It was hard to explain, but it was like you could feel the words rather than hear them. I looked around in confusion and almost screamed at Tar-Mairon's hand pushing me out of chair. He did not look happy at all. How did he get to me so fast anyway?
"Stay bowed and do not move." Tar-Mairon ordered, and I complied feeling scared at this tone. Anything that makes Tar-Mairon like that is something that makes me even more nervous.
I nearly choked on my own spit as a wave of Power suddenly hit me like a tidal wave. My body trembled and nothing or nobody had even entered Tar-Mairon's rooms yet.
"Tar-Mairon" the words came out whispered and strangled as I felt an unidentifiable and alien force pushing down on me.
"Silence" he hissed lowly.
"I.I can't. I can't" I whispered feebly before collapsing onto the floor and feeling my mind flee the strange power.
