"Is your dad ok?"
"He was hit in the biceps area. As soon as the ambo gets here, they'll take him to Med. He knows I'm calling you and told you to stay put."
"I can't do that. He went in there because of my squad."
"He knows that if you hadn't fallen, you could be the one on the way to Med."
"It should be me."
"Mom, don't talk like that. Dad was going crazy when you and Erin were held hostage at the District last year. I got this."
"Tell him I love him."
"I will."
"I love you too."
"I love you too, Mom."
Olivia hung up the phone.
"He was hit in the biceps area."
"You going to let Justin deal with it?"
"Nope. I'm going."
"Mom, you need to stay off your leg and foot."
"And do what exactly? My husband has just been shot. I hate not knowing what's going on. Now, is someone going to take me to Med or am I going to have to drive myself while I'm on pain killers?"
"I probably shouldn't drive yet."
"Me neither."
"Ok, Langan."
"I have to get back to work."
Olivia tried getting up but was in a lot of pain.
"Damn it!"
Olivia started punching her pillow and then she broke down.
"I can't do this. I can't just sit here and just wait to find out what's going on with him. I can't."
Erin wrapped her arms around Olivia to try to calm her down. They heard the doorbell, so Olive was going to get it but Trevor was heading out anyway.
"I'll get that."
"Thanks."
Trevor went downstairs and got the door. It was Ed, Lisa, Alex and Casey.
"Babe, are you ok?"
"I'm ok. Just a little shaken up though. How's Liv?"
"She really wants to go to the hospital and getting frustrated with everyone including herself because that can't happen. She already tried getting up by herself and couldn't because she is in so much pain. Erin and Olive said they shouldn't be driving yet and then she wanted me to take her but I said I had to get back to work."
"I'm ok, so it you want to go back, then go back. I have my mom and the rest of the family until you get home."
"If you need me to come home, I will."
"Ok."
Trevor kissed Lisa and then Ed patted him on the back before he left. They then headed upstairs. Olivia had taken more pain meds and ended up falling asleep. Everyone left the bedroom and went down to the living room. Erin grabbed Olivia's phone.
"She took more pain meds and then fell asleep. That is probably the best thing for her right now. How bad is Dad?"
"I don't know if he needs surgery or not but it didn't appear that it was that bad. That bullet was meant for me. I didn't want to say anything to Trevor yet because I know how he gets and I sure as hell don't want to say anything to my mom. She flew off the handle when I was shot the last time and then she blamed Olivia the longest time. It wasn't Olivia's fault that time nor was it her fault this time. It also wasn't her fault that she fell."
"It's not like your mom doesn't know that you were being held hostage, since Maggie went over there."
"Oh yeah, I know."
"What exactly happened?"
"I was getting into it with the guy because I felt we weren't getting anywhere with him. He was a lot like that guy that was holding us hostage last summer that kept saying he was innocent and didn't care if he killed any of us. He just wanted to get out of there with a guarantee that he wasn't going to be locked up. Kim tried reasoning with him. Hank was basically in the background. The guy had taken the safety off of his gun and had it pointed at me. He was going to pull that trigger one way or another. Hank started fighting with him and the guy pulled the trigger. The gun discharged and Hank got hit in the arm. The suspect got hit in the head from outside, which I am guessing came from either Al or Jay. Once Gabby and Sylvie got there and got ready to take Hank to the hospital, Justin rode with him, Jay got into the truck and followed them."
"Have you talked to Lieutenant Bradley yet?"
"Not yet. He was there but he said he'd contact me later. I wanted to talk to my Commanding Officer before I talked to him anyway. At least Lieutenant Bradley is a lot more reasonable than some of the others with IAB have been."
"Gradishar and Stillwell both come to mind. Hank hated them both so much."
"Definitely."
"We've met Lieutenant Bradley. He's definitely a lot nicer than what SVU had to deal with in New York. Although after seeing what Elliot did to Liv, I can see why you were so hard on them."
"A part of me just never trusted him."
"I understand that. Even though the ADA is on the same side as the police, we bucked horns with them all the time. At least I know I did."
"I did too."
"Rafael said he did too, especially Liv. That was one of the reasons why he chose to quit doing SVU cases because he didn't want to get into it with Michelle or he didn't want to show favorites because they were together."
"That's how we are. We were both hired to do both SVU and Intelligence cases but when I started seeing Kyle and Casey started seeing Antonio, we decided to go with the squad where our significant other wasn't. The State's Attorney is aware of the situation, so we can't cover for each other if the other is sick or on vacation."
"A lot of times though, Rafael will advise the current ADA for SVU if an old case comes up that he happened to remember. That happened maybe a month ago. We stopped in with the boys to see Jenna and Rafael was there with ADA Baldwin. Tutuola said that it was a similar case to one that had been tried a few years ago, so she had asked for Rafael's help on it. She obviously had to do the trial herself because he couldn't."
"Casey and I tease each other all the time because we're always at the other's house working on our respective cases. More times than not lately it seems like Kyle is the one she deals with the most and I deal with Antonio a lot too."
"Kyle really takes things seriously now that he's a Sergeant. I get Olivia wanting to cut back on being out in the field and she had said she was going to cut back more once Hank was promoted. I'm trying to be out less too because I want to be around for my kids more than I am. Adam and Tyler have already lost one mother. When I get into situations like I was in today, I start thinking a lot about my grandpa and wonder what he would do to get out of this situation. I know he's always there looking out for me and I'm sure Kevin is too."
"I just cannot imagine what your family has been through. You lost your grandpa in the line of duty and then you lost your cousin on 9/11."
"Yeah, it hasn't been easy and we have all dealt with in our own way. I just wish the rest of the family would move here."
"We're back to thinking about it again. Jenna said they've discussed it and he would like to be closer to his twin sister. Kevin loves Chicago, so we know he'd come to see us. Not seeing Kevin and now Lucie all the time is Maggie's biggest concern."
"Wasn't your son-in-law thinking about doing the training for one of the other units?"
"He is but he knows that if he transfers to Chicago, things are a little different here."
"He's interested in water rescues?"
"Yeah."
"We do have a Marine Unit here."
"I noticed that. One of the times we were here, I saw one of the CPD boats on the lake."
"There is always someone that doesn't listen to the warnings about not going into the water on certain occasions and they're out looking for those people all the time."
"We get that all the time too."
"You guys had that plane that made an emergency landing in the Hudson a few years back, right?"
"We did. That was mostly our Scuba and Aviation Units that assisted in that. We were just hoping it wasn't going to be another plane flying into a building situation."
"That movie was good."
"It was. They depicted it very well. I've seen a lot of the 9/11-related movies as well. As hard as they were to watch for me personally, they depicted them very well too. Maggie gets upset watching Home Alone 2 and I understand why since they do show the Twin Towers. Dickie has also said that he would love to work with Hank but he's not sure he wants to be a Detective."
"I'm sure we'd be able to find room for Jenna."
Olivia's phone rang. Erin saw it was Justin, so she answered it.
"Hey, Justin."
"Hey. Where's Mom?"
"She finally fell asleep. She was trying to get someone to take her to the hospital and when she tried getting up herself when no one would take her, she ended up experiencing a lot of pain. She took some more pain meds and then fell asleep. I took her phone in case you called. How's Dad?"
"He needs to have surgery to fix the muscle in his arm. I think Mom has an appointment tomorrow at the orthopedic specialist to get her cast put on, which probably means I'll have to take her. You and Olive shouldn't be driving until you're both ready. Having you and Olive home right now helps but you're both kind of limited as to what you can do. Jay said he'll do what he can to help too and so has everyone else. Natalie and Will said they will help in any way they can too. They said they'd even take care of coming over and checking on Dad's incision or taking him to appointments. Mom should be a little more mobile in a few days but it may still be hard to drive."
"Yeah, that's true. Hopefully we can keep her home for the rest of the week. They're both going to be on desk duty for a while. We'll figure it out. Let me talk to Dad."
"Ok. Hold on."
Justin handed the phone to Hank.
"Erin."
"Hey, Dad. You ok?"
"I'd be better if I was there or your mom was here."
"She wants to be there but right now she's asleep. She ended up taking more medicine. I took her phone in case Justin called."
"Tell her I love her and kiss her and the kids for me. All of them."
"Yeah, I will. Don't give everyone a hard time."
"Would I do that?"
"Yes. Tell Justin to let us know how everything goes."
"Ok."
"Love you."
"Love you too, kid."
Erin hung up and told everyone what was going on.
"Maggie and I will help in any way we can."
"Trevor and I will too."
"Kyle and I will help in any way we can too."
"Same with us. Alex and I can bring our work here and only go into the office if we need to or when we have to go to court."
"Absolutely."
"I'm just guessing here but Mom could take more time off while he's recovering."
"No doubt she will. Kyle and I will step up in any way we can and she already knows that."
"MAMA, DADA!"
"Lexie's awake."
Then both Nadia and Millie started crying.
"So are they."
"I'll get Lexie."
"Thanks."
Erin and Olive went to get the babies, while Alex went to get Lexie. Erin had gone into Olivia's room and she was awake, so she told her what was going on. She also told her that she talked to Hank and he told her to tell her that he loves her. Alex heard them, so she knocked on the door.
"Come on in, Alex."
"Thanks. Someone wants her Mama."
"Hi Sweetie."
Alex handed Lexie to Olivia. Alyssa and Maggie came back with the boys and then Lisa, Maggie, Ed and Casey came up with Noah. They tried explaining to Noah what had happened to Hank and then Lisa told Olivia exactly what had happened.
"I wanted to talk to you before I talked to Lieutenant Bradley."
"It's not your fault and I do not blame you for what happened. Hank would have done what he did even if it was just Kim in there. If it were me or Erin that had been in there, we're talking a completely different scenario. He probably would have killed the guy himself."
"Oh, no doubt. Justin did say he would probably end up taking you to your appointment tomorrow. He also said Will and Nat offered to come over to check his incision and take him to his appointments. Jay just texted me and said they were all going to stick around until Dad got out of surgery."
"Thinking about it, it's probably going to be hard for me to get out of the car on the driver's side, since I'd have to put most of my weight on my left leg."
"I can still pick you up, take you to work and bring you home."
"I think for now, I'm going to stay home, so I can spend some time with Hank. If you could bring me all the paperwork I need to go through, that'll be a big help. I would suggest though that you take a few days off this week though. Kim needs to do the same thing."
"Yeah, I know. My uncle gave me the same advice."
"Force of habit. So, we're thinking about coming to Chicago permanently."
"I thought Jenna, Dickie and the boys were basically the reason you weren't."
"That was part of it but he wants to be closer to his twin sister."
"It does seem like they've gotten closer as they have gotten older. We'll be happy to have Jenna join the squad if they decide to come here."
"Dickie has said he still wants to do the water rescues but he also said he would love to work with Hank. He just isn't sure he wants to become a detective. He doesn't want to be like his father."
"I can understand that. What about Kevin and Lucie?"
"Kevin is fine with it and we know he'd come visit us. We're backup babysitters for Lucie though."
"If that is only while Lucia is gone, why couldn't they get a nanny for those months? I'm sure Lucy knows someone looking for work. She's the one that introduced us to Alyssa. Rafael can afford it and I basically know what Michelle makes. I never thought I would find anyone as amazing as Lucy but Alyssa is great too."
"It's a tough choice to make because New York is all I've ever known."
"Same with me."
"I felt the same way. It wasn't like I moved here not knowing anyone. I already had Hank and Erin and knew Lisa. That made the transition easier for me. You'll have almost your entire family."
"It will be everyone. Ellen and Paul are talking about it too."
They heard the doorbell and then Jenna, Dickie, his mother and sisters came upstairs.
"Hey, Olivia. How are you feeling?"
"I actually feel like crap. Now Hank is in the hospital."
"We heard about that. Kyle had called to check up on Lizzie, so he told her about Hank. He's in surgery right now?"
"He is but I haven't talked to him."
"I told him not to give everyone a hard time. He asked if he'd do that and I told him yes."
"Oh, he definitely would. Ed and Maggie tell me you're thinking about moving here?"
"Yeah, we are. They are too actually. I'd like the boys to get to know their cousins, so I wanted to be somewhere close to one of my sisters. Lizzie and I have always had that bond as twins even though we haven't always gotten along. The boys and Molly really seemed to hit it off."
"Are they here?"
"Yeah. We left them with Alyssa, Daniel and Olive in the family room."
"Noah, why don't you go down there?"
"Ok."
Noah kissed Olivia and then he went downstairs.
"I need to use the bathroom."
Ed helped Olivia up and then he handed her her crutches. She then went into the bathroom. Once she was done, she tried getting up but she couldn't.
"Damn it! Can someone please help me?"
Lisa went in and helped her up.
"Thanks."
"No problem."
Olivia washed her hands and then they went back into the bedroom. Meredith, Cindy and Donna were all there.
"Olivia, how are you feeling?"
"It really hurts."
"We heard about Hank. If you need any help, please don't hesitate to call any of us."
"Thank you."
"Are you planning to go see him at all?"
"I have an appointment tomorrow morning at the orthopedic specialist, so hopefully, I can go see him after that. I don't feel right not being there now though."
"Who's taking you to that?"
"Justin said he was. At least that's what he told Erin. I'm also guessing he's going to stay with Hank tonight."
"It's hard to say with him."
Olive came back up with Millie.
"Anything yet?"
"No."
"This is crazy."
"Yeah, it is."
"Alyssa is still here, right?"
"Yes."
"This is making me crazy. I need to be there with him."
"You need to rest."
Olivia rolled her eyes.
"I'm still hungry. Hank was going to pick up Portillo's but didn't because he had to go to that scene."
"How'd you take your meds?"
"He brought me some crackers when he brought the meds to me."
"Ok."
Everyone talked for a while and then Lisa called Trevor to pick up Portillo's for everyone that was there. Trevor, Pauline and the kids joined them. Lisa ended up telling Trevor and Pauline exactly what had happened. Donna and Cindy had left but everyone else stayed and had dinner with Olivia. While they were eating, Justin called and told Olivia that things had gone well and he was in recovery. He said that he was planning to stay with Hank. Olivia said that she could get someone else to take her to her appointment but Justin told her he'd be home. He and Jay worked it out that they'd switch. Jay would come to the hospital and he'd come home. She told Justin that she wanted to go see Hank after her appointment. He said he figured she would. Once she hung up the phone, she told everyone that things went well. She told Erin and Olive that Justin was planning to stay with Hank and then Jay would switch with him, so he could come home to take her to her appointment. Everyone left and went home or back to their hotel. Jay had come home and helped get the kids to bed and then everyone went to bed. Noah decided he wanted to sleep in Hank and Olivia's bed and Olivia thought it would be ok.
