Been wanting to make a Constance chapter for a long time, and now I've finally got an idea!
More Ojou-Sama inbound.
Enjoy!
She could feel it. That piercing gaze of his, it was hard not to notice.
Constance turned around, glaring at the man responsible for the unsettling stare.
"Do you require something of me?" She raised an eyebrow, placing a hand on her hip.
Byleth simply stared back at her, the darkness of the Abyss obscuring half his face while one of the many torches that lit the wall illuminated the other half of his neutral expression.
Constance's glare only intensified the longer the silence dragged on. Eventually, he spoke.
"Your hair..."
Constance raised an eyebrow. "My hair?"
Byleth nodded. "It's interesting." He said, a grin forming on Constance's face shortly afterwards as she let out a hearty laugh.
"Ohoho~! I see you've finally taken notice of my unrivaled beauty!" Constance flicked her hair to the side with her hand, eyeing the Professor playfully. "Yes, my hair is one of my more outstanding features. I'm glad you've finally taken notice."
He tilted his head slightly, staring at her with a curious gaze. It made her a little nervous actually...
"How is it different colors? You must take good care of it."
Constance's smile only grew brighter. "Oh, but of course! I go to great lengths to ensure my hair is in excellent condition. A noble must always show the people the best side of them after all." She exclaimed.
Byleth straightened his head nodding.
"Ah, there you are." The two of them turned to her heads to see Yuri approaching them as he eyed Byleth.
"You're late." Yuri's brow was furrowed as he glared at the Professor.
"Sorry, I was talking to Constance."
Yuri turned to look at his noble friend. "Constance, do you need our friend here for much longer?" He asked, the blonde shook her head. Yuri smiled, grabbing Byleth by the hand and dragging him off. Constance raised an eyebrow at the odd display, when did those two get so close?
She found herself fiddling with one of the curled strands of hair that framed each side of her face, eyeing it closely. If she were being honest, she doesn't take the best care of her hair, figuring no one would notice. But the Professor noticed, and for some reason that worried her. She would need to go into town to see if there was any soap available to buy.
Wait, why was she worrying over her hair in the first place? Who was she trying to impress? The Professor? What good would come out out of trying to please someone like him?
"Constance? You coming?" Hapi said, standing in the door way of their room.
"In a second Hapi! You cannot rush perfection!"
"I can if it takes a whole hour."
Constance ignored her friend, continuing to brush every bit of her hair as she looked in a mirror. She had been doing this for the past hour, and the longer it went on the more Hapi wanted to sigh.
"What's even got you so worked up about your hair anyway, you never used to be so strict about it."
Constance glanced at her friend. "One must always look their best my dear Hapi."
"I get that but, you never stressed this much in the past." Hapi grinned. "Was it ol' Chatterbox? He get you worked up?"
Constance blushed heavily, and Hapi knew she hit the nail on the head.
"H-He most certainly did not! Why would I care about what he thinks of me?!"
"I never mentioned anything about what he thinks about you." Hapi said, still grinning. Constance furrowed her brows and turned back to her mirror, brushing her hair a bit more before setting down her brush and standing up, walking past Hapi; the red-head joining her.
"Bout time" She said as she caught up to Constance.
"Oh shush!"
Constance and Hapi walked up to Byleth as he was standing by the door to the classroom, welcoming everyone in. Hapi waved absentmindedly to him as she walked by and Byleth nodded back, Constance walked up to him, flicked her hair to the side in a very exaggerated manner and locked her eyes with his.
Byleth simply stared back. "Good morning Constance."
Constance didn't say anything, simply frowning and turning to walk into the classroom. Sitting next to Hapi with a huff and crossing her arms.
"The nerve of that man!"
"So much for not caring about what the Professor thinks, hm?" Hapi said, Constance turning to glare at her friend before looking back to the front as the Professor began the lesson.
"You wanna know what gets guys...Excited?" Balthus asked, scratching the back of his head.
"That is correct, because despite my natural charm I still seem to be lacking something." Constance stated.
"Um well..." Balthus cleared his throat. "Listen Constance I understand your infatuation with me..."
"What?"
"But I just don't think we'd be a good match."
"What!? You think I'm coming on to you?!" Constance exclaimed.
"Well yeah, why else would you ask for advice guys, you were dropping a hint right?"
"No I was not! I was asking for advice so I could show off my beauty to the Professor!" Constance blushed almost instantly upon stating the Professor.
"Oho! The Professor eh? Smart thinking Constance, you'd get good grades that way."
Constance rolled her eyes and walked away, entering the hallway that led to her and Hapi's shared room. Balthus clearly wasn't going to be of any help, honestly what was she thinking even going to him in the first place.
Now who else could help her? Who else could help her with fashion? There were plenty of girls who knew about fashion on the surface, but that would require going into the sun.
"Rare to see you so frustrated."
Constance jumped and whipped around, seeing Yuri standing behind her.
"Yuri! Would you quit sneaking up on people!"
The man chuckled and shook his head. "Sorry, so what's got you so worked up?"
"W-Well I am trying to...Brush up on my fashion." Constance replied, while it wasn't the whole truth, the last thing she wanted was Yuri learning of Constance's need to show off to the Professor.
"Fashion eh? Well maybe I can help with that."
Constance looked Yuri up and down, despite being a male he had a extraordinary sense of fashion. "Very well then, show me your ways my dear Yuri!"
"Good morning my dearest Professor!" Constance said as she approached the man. Byleth stood by the classroom door, welcoming the students into the classroom as he always did.
"Good morning Constance." Byleth responded, before turning away from her and welcoming Edelgard. Constance frowned and walked past him, sitting at her desk next to Hapi, who was rest her cheek on her hand lazily. "You look different."
"Apparently not different enough! That dull man didn't even notice!"
"Who Chatterbox? Thought you didn't care what he thought about you."
"I don't! But I clearly touched myself up, and yet he made no comment! How rude!"
Hapi shrugged, turning to face forward upon hearing the doors close and Byleth walked towards the front, instructing everyone to open their textbooks and beginning the lesson.
Constance pushed aside her frustration with the Professor and listened to the lesson, which dragged on for far to long in her opinion.
After the lesson was over, Constance remained at her desk, staring at the Professor while everyone else gathered their things and shuffled out of the classroom. When it was finally just her and the Professor alone she furrowed her brow, standing up and walking up to the Professor, who was sitting at his desk going through paperwork, he looked up upon hearing her footsteps.
"Constance, did you need something?"
The blonde put both hands on her hips. "Explain yourself!"
Byleth simply started at her, that same stupid unnerving stare. "I'm not sure what I need to explain..."
"I've gone out of my way to look my absolute best for you and yet you have not made even the slightest comment on my appearance!"
Byleth looked away for a second, before turning back to Constance. "Would you...Like my opinion?"
"Yes!"
The man nodded. "Very well, I don't like it."
This only stoked Constance's anger further. "What!? After everything I've done you don't like the way I look!?"
"I don't like what you're doing, you're trying too hard." Byleth smiled, that same old stupid smile. "YI think you're perfect the way you are, no reason to go overboard."
Constance's mouth was agape, stunned as her face blushed a deep red. "I...Um...Thank you..." She had been fishing for more compliments this whole time, but to finally receive them...It made her feel all warm inside.
"Anytime Constance." And with that he returned to his paper work, leaving Constance to let herself out. As she shut the doors behind her, she turned her head to see Hapi grinning at her.
"So? Did he like it?"
"Oh shush."
I know it's a Constance chapter, but I've been struggling latetly, plus I've been extremely busy this past month. My pacing is kinda slowing down, which is both a good and bad thing I feel.
I hope you enjoyed this chapter, it personally does not feel very good. So let me know what you guys thought of it.
Until next time.
