Although Cinder didn't entirely succeed, you're right. But she still acts the same with her partners (kicking Neo into the void and burning Watts alive). I'm not sure if she learned a whole lot.
I was actually talking about this with another user here. While I think the post credit scene is actually Remnant's Heaven and we get to see Pyrrha and Summer, he thinks differently (that it seems strange to kill off the main characters). Either way, I could see RWBY try to find a way back while Salem and Cinder make an elaborate plan to take Vacuo using the Staff. And yeah, I hope Jaune doesn't steal screen time.
