A.N. — I did a deplorable werewolf earlier in this collection. Now it's time for a cheerier tale of lycanthropy. A very happy birthday to Remus John Lupin.
69. Remus Lupin
He was going to Hogwarts. He, a supposed Dark creature, was being allowed to intermingle with hundreds of other children and learn like a normal wizard. Remus Lupin, a prisoner of the moon, would get to enjoy a measure of freedom for the first time since he was bitten.
Remus' childhood was filled with pain, the public's disdain, and a rapidly-developing inferiority complex. Having Albus Dumbledore actually throw around the power his many titles denoted so a werewolf could go to school didn't make everything immediately better, but it was a balm on a kind soul that desperately needed one.
