Chapter 69: Classical Talent

"Attention students of Duckburg High, the school is going to host the Winter Talent Show once again this month. Anyone who's interested to participate are to drop by outside the student council room and submit
The announcements are finished and as of now, it's the last period and all classes waited anxiously for the bell to ring. Tick, tock went the clocks and as time passes on, "RIIIIIIING!"
Finally as everyone packed up and left their homerooms as some went to their lockers to settle their stuff and others went to their respective areas or school facilities to begin their CCAs.
On one of the lockers, Webby just finished settling her stuff. "Okay...next, meet Lena, Violet and Gosalyn at the library for some revisions as a study group!" She thought as she locked her locker and made her way to the library.
On her way there, "I hear something." She looked to the female's restroom and heard cries and glees. Something is not right as she hid by the wall and waited. A minute later, the door opened and Webby caught as glimpse of Mandy, Stacey, Lacey and Tracey leaving the area. "What could they have been doing?" She wondered as she went inside the restroom. There, "Oh no..."
Right in front of her is a female nightingale student sobbing to herself. She has chestnut brown hair tied into a bun with 2 strands hanging on both sides of her face. She wore a long-sleeved pink shirt with a beige jacket, dark purple skirt, white socks and dark green shoes.
Looking down, Webby can see her books and notes scattered and good thing they're undamaged but what caught her attention the most is a guitar smashed into pieces and with the strings cut out. Approaching the girl, "What happened?" Webby asked the student. She said nothing but pointed at her broken guitar. "Why did they do this to you? Is it for humiliation and ruination?" Webby asked. She nodded and continued to cry. "Hey calm down. I'm here to help you okay?" Webby assured to her as she looked up. "Oh yes, Hi! I'm Webby!" Ha! Ha! Signature greeting as the student pointed at one of her books. Taking it, "Ah...your name's Vivica Von Nightingberg. Sounds interesting." Webby read for she wrote her full name on her books. "Tell me, you're from Europe?" Webby asked. She nodded. "Cool! France? Germany? Luxemburg? Great Britain?" She shook her head. "Ireland?" She shook her head again. "Funny. Kimberly once told me her parents are Irish." Webby thought when Vivica used her finger and wrote the letter A blankly in front of Webby. "Ahhh...Austria!"
This time, Vivica nodded as Webby comforted her. "It's okay. Don't let those mean girls do what they like. If ever they cause you trouble with their bullying, just go and seek help okay?"
She nodded as the girls gathered up her stuff. After that, "I can help you with the guitar. I know-" Webby was cut off as Vivica waved her hand left and right. "Hmmm...you can fix the guitar yourself?" Webby asked. She nodded and decided to leave. As she exited the bathroom. She turned around to look at Webby. "Th-Thank you."
Webby was stunned. "I thought she's..." Never mind as Webby looked at the time and left also to meet her friends.
In the library...
Lena, Violet and Gosalyn are seen revising their subjects and eating nacho chips with cheese and salsa dip mixed together at the library cafe. "You're right Gos. Mixing the dips really gave the flavour a new kick!" Lena spoke to her as she dipped a chip and ate it. "Webby should be arriving soon." said Gosalyn. "Exams are nearing and I gotta put in extra effort."
"Agreed." said Violet as she sipped her pineapple juice when, "Hey guys!"
"Webs! What took ya so long?" Lena asked as she sat down and took out her notes. "Have to avoid more mean bullying and help a student who's from Austria."
"Austria? Wait a frickin minute...you met that girl Webby?" Gosalyn asked. "Whoa! You all heard of Vivica Von Nightingberg?" Webby asked. "According to data, this student is a foreign exchange student who moved to Duckburg and attended this high school starting her second year here. Her class is Y209." Violet began. "And indeed she was born in Austria and after some years, moved here."
"I heard rumours that this girl is incredibly talented in classical music." said Lena. "Violin, guitar and piano are the instruments she's a prodigy in."
"Yeah. No wonder the band kids invited her to become part of their clique and the school band." said Gosalyn. "I'm surprised." said Webby. "In which factor?" Violet asked. "None. Because when I first met her, she was a target of bullying from the mean girls and she doesn't talk much." Webby explained. "It's natural for a foreign exchange student to be new here and it takes time for him or her to get adjusted." Violet assured. "But it worries me that she gets targeted by bullies like those mean girls. I've heard they've been harassing some of the freshmen for their own wants." said Lena as the girls continued their revision. "But there must be more to Vivica than her background..." Webby thought as she starting writing down answers on some math questions in her homework.
The next day...
After school, Webby decided to get some more data and the first thing to do is, "Meet the Band Kids." She spoke as she arrived outside their turf which is the music room. Knocking on the door twice, she waited and then, "How can I help you?" A female pigeon student answered the door. "Hi, can I see your clique leader? I would like to ask him something regarding one of the band members. It's also personal." Webby explained. "Wait here." The student went back inside and a minute later, a male macaw came out to meet Webby. "The name's Stevens. Leader of the Band Kids clique. How can I help you?"
"Do you know anything about this girl named Vivica Von Nightingberg?" Webby asked. "Ah...yes! Her musical talents are extraordinary! A great asset to the clique. Wish I can say the same for the other members." Stevens spoke. "You see, envy is breeding in the clique and rotting some of the members due to her talents this school year. From what I've heard before, she had difficulty being sociable even before transferring to this school."
"She never had anyone as friends?" A surprised Webby asked. "I wish I knew. I tried to befriend her but she'll rather distance herself. Still, she took the offer to join the band." Stevens replied. "I see...anything else?" Webby asked. "Well...I do recall 2 things about her." Stevens recalled. "One is that she gets bullied in a way she was ignored or treated like she doesn't exist."
"That explains why she's silent most of the time." Webby replied. "True. I did hear a few words like yes, no, etc." said Stevens. "And second, she's participating in the Winter Talent Show. She signed up for it today."
"The one that the school announced and held every December?" Webby brought up. "Exactly. Last year, the Feather Heights Rock Band won it as far as I recall." Stevens replied as he looked at the time via his watch. "I gotta get the band started for practice."
"Understood. I got all I need. Thanks for taking the time to chat with me." Webby replied and thanked him as she left while Stevens went back inside the music room.
Outside, Webby exited the school when she heard commotion. She followed it to the carpark on the left and, "Not them again!" In front of her is Mandy and all her peers as Mandy just pushed Vivica to the ground causing her to drop her stuff and started to kick her a few times. "Stupid anti-social bitch!" She mocked as the girls laughed. While this was happening, Kimberly looked behind and noticed Webby. She gave her the hand signal to hide as Webby read it clearly and hid as, "Alright girls. We're done here! Let's hit the mall!" Mandy declared as the girls cheered and left. Kimberly then gave a thumbs up behind as Webby emerged from her hiding place. "Phew! Thank Kimberly for that!" She thought as she approached Vivica who's on the ground crying. "You alright?" Webby extended her hand out as the nightingale took her hand. "Why...why do you come for me?"
"Ooh. Now you're becoming bold in speaking directly in front of me!" Webby exclaimed as she gathered her school supplies and handed them back to her. "I came for you because I cannot stand seeing you get pushed around by those bullies. I'm here to help you."
"But-"
"No buts Vivica! A friend is someone who's willing to help others and stand up for them! A friend is someone who's willing to open up and lend a helping hand! And that's what I'm going to do!" Webby sure has strong words as Vivica started to tear up over them. "Anyway, I heard you're gonna participate in the Winter Talent Show?" Webby asked. She nodded and, "H-How do you k-know?"
"Asked the band kids clique leader about you and others mentioned you and your talents." Webby replied. "So what have you planned so far?" Vivica just shrugged her shoulders. "Haven't thought of it yet? Well, you still got until next week to plan and practice." said Webby. She nodded in agreement and, "Hey I know! Why don't you play some classical music?" Webby suggested. She looked surprised as, "Many have said that you are a prodigy in playing the guitar, violin and piano! This I got to see!" Webby exclaimed beaming in excitement. Vivica was most surprised by the bubbliness of Webby so, she decided to open up.
Later...
"Nice house." said Webby as the girls entered the place. It's pretty decent as Vivica brought her to her room and there, "No...way! You have your own piano! It's so huge and grand! Just like your room!" Webby exclaimed as she looked around the bedroom. Also decent as it has the bed, wardrobe, bookshelf, desk with chair and computer and, "Oh! Your guitar's fixed I see." Webby noticed. "I...I had it patched up...yesterday after...you helped me." Vivica replied as Webby looked around some more. She can see pictures of Vivica winning music competitions. "That explains the prodigy thing." She thought and she saw her award case containing trophies and medals. And beside it, "A violin!" She exclaimed as Vivica took it and sat on her bed as Webby gleefully felt more excited than ever. "What serenade you're going to play?" She asked. Vivica just smiled and started the music as she fiddled her violin with grace and tranquillity. Webby was in awe as for the next few minutes, the bedroom is filled with classical music and once done, "Schubert's Serenade." She revealed.
"So cool!" Webby cheered. "You heard of Haydn's Serenade?"
Vivica nodded and played the serenade filling the room again for a few minutes. After that, Webby applauded for her as, "You...ever played any instrument?" Vivica asked for she's starting to warm up even more. "Oh! I played the cello for 7 years." Webby replied. "Wow...not bad." Vivica replied as she took a deep breath. "Anything?" Webby asked. "Well...you mentioned that students say that I'm a prodigy in the art of classical music. I never told a soul about it but for the first time because you want to be my friend, I will share it to you." Vivica then gestured at the piano as Webby watched her go to it. She opened the fall and got ready. And one can say that Webby has figured out an idea for Vivica to perform in the upcoming Winter Talent Show.
The next week on that night...
Night time at Duckburg and the Winter Talent Show takes place in the auditorium. Students and some of their families are seen seated and among the audience is, "For once, the triplets aren't with us." said Gosalyn. "Also, the Feather Heights and Russell." said Jennifer. "What the fuck? Russell is performing?" A surprised Duncan asked. "One of his life goals is to sing in the talent show. He told me about it." said Violet. "So anyway, how many performances?" Angelo asked. "Beats me. Although some of my peers are gonna rap for the talent show." said B.N.D as they waited.
At the backstage, "Now whatever happens on stage, keep cool, muster up all your courage and confidence and do your very best! Prove to the school your unique talents!" Webby encouraged Vivica who shyly nodded and she's wearing a blue violet dress and white high heels when, "Webs!"
"Lena! Lana! Luna!" Webby greeted her friends as, "Gonna win twice in a row Brittania?" Webby asked using the British accent. "Definitely Englabeth." Lena replied using the British accent as Lana and Luna laughed when, "Hey guys!"
"Well, well, well, the red, blue and green bros are here!" Luna exclaimed as the triplets showed up when, "Hey Webby, who's that nightingale girl you're talking with?" Louie asked. "Oh? That's Vivica Von Nightingberg!" Webby then called for her to come and meet her other friends. At first, she stepped away but Webby got to her and gently pushed her to meet her friends as she introduced each of them to her. "Ah...so this the classical music prodigy I heard about..." said Louie. "Classical Music? Wow! Heard it's soothing and calming. Tel me Vivica, which instruments you play?" Huey asked. "Just to let you know, I have a girlfriend." Dewey then locked his beak on Webby's surprising her. "Kinky." Lana whispered to her bandmates as they snickered. "Oh yeah pink, are you participating?"
"Nope. Just helping Vivica with her talents." Webby replied. "Tonight's the night that the whole school will acknowledge her prodigy in the art of classical music!" She declared surprising the gang. "So at last...we'll see her perform...interesting." Lena thought when, "Heh. I bet 20 bucks to see it myself." said Louie. "I bet
On stage...
"Good evening students of Duckburg High!" Principal Aquila greeted as all quiet down. "As usual, several performances and first prize goes to the top performer/performers." He then gave the signal and Vice-Principal Skylar went onstage showing the whole school a gold trophy. "All the best to those participating and I'll hand the mike to the head prefect." The principal then handed the mike to Horatio who just got on stage as the he and the vice principal left the stage to be seated.
Talent Show Time!
"First, we have second year student, Russell Northshore!" Horatio announced as Russell stepped in from the left side with a mike on his hand. "Russell sing song." He stated to the audience as behind him, the music teacher began playing the piano as Russell began. (He's singing Beautiful by Christina Aguilera and the piano will be on stage throughout the event)

However in the middle of his performance, a shoe flew and hit his face. "KSH!" Russell felt it and noticed several junior varsity jocks snickering and laughing at him. "RUSSELL PISSED THAT JV JOCKS SCREWED MY SINGING!" He then threw himself onto the J.V Jocks causing a tumult among the audience. "BREAK IT UP! BREAK IT UP!" Horatio ordered as Yoko, Ignatius, Cedric, Sanders and many more of the prefects jumped into the action.
Several minutes later, "Heh. I feel sorry for Russell." said Duncan. "Yeah me too. He got a week of detention and the J.V Jocks got 2." said Cornelius as the talent show continues on.
After that, a graduating male fox student played the saxophone playing the Benny Hill Theme Song. Pretty jazzy and everyone applauded for him as he waved to the crowd.
Next performance is a dance and it's the mean cheerleaders as all 10 of them wore skimpy Christmas outfits and danced sexually as Christmas music is being played. Only the guys enjoyed it as they slapped their asses before the audience. "Demonic whores." Leticia insulted. "All of them?" Ennui asked. "9 out of 10." Leticia replied and he nodded in agreement.
3 performances had passed as more took place. One freshman got jeered for his pathetic stand-up comedy and it's followed by a breakdance group doing breakdance moves with a Japanese song, a barbershop quartet consisting of 2 second year and 2 third year students and a beatboxer that got a good applause.
And after him is the Feather Heights as Lena, Lana and Luna rocked and rolled hard and with
And then, "Next, we have the triplets. Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck!" Horatio announced as the triplets walked on stage from the oldest to the youngest. On the centre, Huey stood there while Dewey and Louie stood by his side. Once ready, the triplets nodded at each other as jazz music is being played and the triplets began their performance. (They're singing the song, "How Deep Is Your Love" from the Bee Gees)

And yes, they're done as the audience cheered and applauded for the triplets loudly especially the besties. "As expected from these guys!" said Ricardo. "If only their uncle was here but I heard he's busy and likewise, the family." said Gosalyn. "An epic performance with a high score!" Melvin cheered as onstage, the triplets left.
It cuts to backstage as the boys cheered. "Huey, your idea was something!" Louie exclaimed. "I told you we can pull this off!" He replied to his brother as, "Yeah! We dew it! We're gonna win this talent show! It's gonna be dewtastic for us all!" Dewey cheered when, "Never thought you boys can give the school a good show." Lena spoke up as she, Lana and Luna went to catch on with the triplets.
Nearby, "Alright Vivica, you're the last. Ready?" Webby asked the nightingale. "Well...you really believe I can do it?"
"Of course you can! I know you will and you'll show the school your gift! So go out there and display your classical talent! I'll be right here rooting for you." Webby assured as she placed her hand on her shoulder for encouragement. Vivica then took a deep breath as she nodded at Webby and is on standby as, "Webby!" Dewey called for her as she went to meet up with her friends. "What do you think of our performance?"
"Well Dewdrop, how deep is your love for me?" Webby asked. "As deep as the blue ocean." He replied as he cuddled to his girlfriend when, "Wait pink, are you participating?"
"No Lena. I was helping Vivica instead. She's gonna show the school why she's a prodigy in classical music." Webby revealed as, "Interesting. We get to see it with our own eyes." said Louie as they watched from the side.
Back onstage, "This talent show is something! And finally, the last one for tonight, a soloist to chill with the piano, Vivica Von Nightingberg!" Horatio announced as the nightingale walked on stage and headed to the piano. She sat on the seat and took a deep breath as from the audience, murmuring took place. Vivica then took out something. A black blindfold as she tied to around her head and covered her eyes surprising the audience.
"Is she serious?" Darby asked. "Heh! My money's on her if she can put up a good show!" said Biff. "Deal then." Darby replied as he and Biff shook hands.
"Don't tell me..." Stevens fixed his sunglasses and began his observation.
Now onstage, a blindfolded Vivica placed her fingers on the keys of the piano feeling them a bit for a few seconds. From the sides, "Come on Vivica..." Webby was nervous on how she'll pull off when she made her move. The classical music, Moonlight Sonata is being played as despite the blindfold, Vivica surprisingly and miraculously executed the sequence as her fingers felt and keyed down on the keyboard of the piano.
The entire audience had thunderstruck looks on their faces including the teachers and even the principal and vice-principal. And not to mention those performing could not believe their eyes. Webby on the other hand smiled as she recalled it.
(Flashback)
"So this is why you're a prodigy." Webby exclaimed as they're in Vivica's room as she closed her piano and removed her blindfold. "At a young age, the piano was the first instrument I played. 7 years of it paid off to the point I can surprisingly memorise the entire keyboard of the piano and thus, I challenged myself by hindering one of my 5 senses."
"And it lead to the fact that you challenged yourself to do this?" Webby asked. Vivica nodded as Webby gave her a smirking smile implying the idea for the Winter Talent Show.
(End Flashback)
As Vivica played on, her mind is also focused as every key she played was exactly the sequence like as if it's memorised easily. Already, several minutes passed and she finally ended her performance.
She then stood up, faced the audience and bowed to them. And then, Ted Sinclair stood up first. He then started applauding her Jackson joined him and then, Weston followed by every player from the football them as Darby stood up next and all the preppies followed his action and the next thing it happened, the entire school cheered for her leaving Vivica in awe of this reaction. From the side, Webby gleefully applauded for her and likewise, the triplets, the Feather Heights, the other performers including the cheerleaders except Mandy who ignorantly walked off not caring about her. "Oh yeah. You owe me 30 bucks." Biff told Darby. "Dang it." He groaned as he paid his main lieutenant.
Results time...
"We have the results students." Principal Aquila announced. "Third place goes to the triplets!" All cheered as Huey, Dewey and Louie went onstage and got a bronze trophy. "Second place goes to the Feather Heights!" The principal announced as the girls went onstage. "Last year we won but this year we dropped by a rank." said Lana. "No matter, we'll climb back up next time." said Luna as Lena received a silver trophy as the trio cheered. "And finally...first place goes to...

"Vivica Von Nightingberg!" The principal announced as the audience gave their loudest applause as Vivica went onstage shyly and received the gold trophy from Vice Prinicpal Skylar. She could see everyone cheering and complimenting her. "Shit dudes! I feel like asking that chick out!" A rooster punk named Carlos told his peers. "How is she able to play the piano so well? I feel like asking her to teach me!" A female goat band kid named Macey exclaimed to herself. "At last, you have earned the respect of the entire school band." Stevens thought with a smile as Vivica waved to the audience as they continued cheering for her.
After the event...
"So, how does it feel to win first prize?" Webby asked Vivica as it cuts to them at the main hall and Vivica has the gold trophy on her hands. "Well...I feel so joyful! Everyone praised me and saw my talents! Even the jocks and preps wanted to...uh..."
"It's natural. So many boys eyed on me but I paid no attention." Webby replied to Vivica when, "Webby! Vivica!" They turned to see the Besties Clique approaching them. "So...many?"
"That's right Vivica. It's called a clique and I myself am part of it." said Webby. "And I myself as clique leader am here to give your friend an offer." Louie began as he looked at Vivica. "I heard you had difficulty adjusting to your new life. I am aware that you tend to cut yourself off from society. But things are going to change..." All agreed with Louie as they nodded their heads. "Are you saying that-"
"Yes Vivica. I officially offer you a place in the Besties Clique." Louie declared. "With us around, we can help you as how we all help each other out as best friends." All the other members agreed with smiles of pure positively as Vivica started to cry and spoke these words. "Th-Thank you!"
"Hey Vivica, there's no need to cry about it." Webby stated. "No...in my heart, I feel so much joy! First Webby, you had the will to befriend me while I was tormented. Second, you are the reason why I gave it my all during the talent and finally, your peers accepted me not only as a friend but as part of the clique!" Vivica then wiped her tears and continued on. "As a result, it's all thanks to you that I have been renewed to become a better student and be more sociable to others!"
"Awww...and you even spoke properly with confidence! Have you noticed how much improvement you progressed so far?" Webby revealed and Vivica nodded in agreement as, "Welcome to our inner circle." Louie declared as the gang cheered and they started to socialize with Vivica as the clique left the school for a midnight snack.
Oh boy! Classical music to my ears hypes my mind and brings peace to my heart!
Gee, things are getting out of hand ever since more promos are released. Like for instance, May and June are making an appearance but not April and as we all know, these 3 girls are triplets and nieces of Daisy Duck as evident in the comics and the Disney Wiki. Now the insane thing going on in the fandom is this.
There were claims that Webby is related to May and June. Webby is April. Clones or whatsoever stuff because there are probably too many claims. Seriously...what is all this? Even though I saw the promo videos for the finale, how will I ever know...
I don't what to say and sometimes, does the crew ever do their research on the characters and stuff? I mean, why did they have only May and June appear but not April? Too many questions if you ask me. I bet you all also wonder about it right? But still, we must not jump the gun over all these claims and theories. We may not even know what the show has in store for us also.
And speaking of which, some people say that the birthday party image in the Last Adventure episode may be Webby's birthday. Now I have much to ponder about if ever the episode is released and the date of her birthday is revealed. As you all know, I made up the birthday date of Webby in chapter 60. So...I need your opinions. Do I still stick to my idea or follow the canon or stuff?
Well, for all that I've mentioned, you can all leave your reviews about it and I'll just work on the next chapter. Woo-hoo! (Actually I'm in the corner feeling angst about the finale. LOL!)
