SummerSlam: 26/8/2007

WWE SummerSlam was live at the Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The first match that aired was between Kane and Finlay. Kane controlled the opening minutes of the match, performing a variety of moves including a scoop slam and a big boot. After some back and forth action, Finlay was able to hit Kane with a shillelagh in the ribs. Kane kicked out of the pin attempt and executed a chokeslam, pinning him afterwards for the win.

Next was a Triple Threat match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship that involved Umaga, Carlito, and Mr. Kennedy. Kennedy attempted to form an alliance with Carlito in the beginning, but Umaga quickly turned the match in his favor. Kennedy and Carlito soon gained the upper hand after Carlito dropkicked Umaga to the outside. Shortly thereafter, Carlito turned on Kennedy and attempted to pin him with a roll-up. After a back and forth match between the three, Umaga regained control and performed a Samoan Spike on Kennedy, which led to Umaga pinning Kennedy for the win and successfully retaining the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

The third match was Rey Mysterio versus Chavo Guerrero, which was Mysterio's first match since Guerrero injured his knee in October 2006. Mysterio gained the early advantage when he was able to perform an arm drag and a plancha on Guerrero. Mysterio then performed a low dropkick to Guerrero's left knee, followed by a diving hurricanrana. Towards the end of the match, Guerrero was able to perform a Gory Bomb on Mysterio after Mysterio had missed a crossbody. Mysterio kicked out of the pin attempt and performed a 619 followed by a springboard splash for the pinfall victory.

Next was an Interpromotional Divas Battle Royal involving Beth Phoenix, Melina, Mickie James, Jillian Hall, and Maria from Raw, Michelle McCool, Torrie Wilson, Kristal Marshall, and Victoria from SmackDown, and Kelly Kelly, Layla, and Brooke from ECW. Shortly after the match began, Phoenix threw Brooke over the top rope. Soon after, Hall eliminated Maria and Layla was thrown out by Melina. Kristal then eliminated Victoria, but was then thrown over the ropes by James and accidentally knocked off the apron by McCool. Shortly after, Phoenix and Hall eliminated Kelly, and Hall and James began pulling each other over the ropes. Wilson threw Hall out to the floor whilst Melina knocked James off the apron. McCool and Wilson then worked together to eliminate Melina. The two continued their alliance, but Phoenix was able to get the upper hand, first eliminating Wilson, followed by throwing McCool over the ropes to win the match and a future WWE Women's Championship match.

Shortly after the match ended, WWE United States Champion Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP) came to the ring and challenged Matt Hardy to a beer drinking contest. Hardy declined and named a replacement, Stone Cold Steve Austin. Austin came out and mocked MVP by doing several warm-up exercises similar to those MVP does before a match. As the contest was set to start, Austin delivered a Stone Cold Stunner to MVP and left the ring.

Next on the card was John Morrison versus CM Punk for the ECW Championship. Punk gained early control when he was able to perform a scoop slam as well as a springboard dropkick; however, Morrison was able to counter a shoulder block attempt into a neckbreaker on the ring apron. After Morrison controlled the match for several minutes, Punk was able to put the match back in his favor after performing a diving crossbody followed by an enzuigiri. Morrison, however, countered a Frankensteiner attempt into a pin-cover while using the ropes for leverage. He got the win, thus retaining the ECW Championship.

The sixth match of the event was between the returning Triple H and King Booker, who was accompanied by Queen Sharmell. Triple H gained the early advantage as the match began; however, Booker was able to gain control after performing a low dropkick. Triple H regained control after countering Booker and performing a variety of moves, which included a corner clothesline and a spinebuster. Booker put the match back in his favor after reversing a clothesline attempt into a Book End, which was followed by a sidewalk slam. After Booker missed a diving somersault leg drop, Triple H was able to recover and perform a Pedigree. Triple H pinned Booker afterwards to gain the victory.

The World Heavyweight Championship match between champion The Great Khali and challenger Batista was next. Khali controlled most of the match and performed a variety of moves, which included a brain chop, a big boot, and multiple clotheslines. Batista won the match after Khali intentionally disqualified himself by hitting him with a steel chair. Since a championship cannot change hands via countout or disqualification, Khali retained the title. Following the match, Khali attempted to hit Batista with another chairshot only for Batista to duck it and spear Khali. Batista would then use the chair to his advantage and hit Khali with it multiple times.

Now it was time for the WWE Championship Main Event.

Randy Orton's theme hits to boos and out comes the Legend Killer and #1 Contender for the WWE Championship. Orton makes his way towards the ring and enters, going to a turnbuckle where he does his signature pose before he gets down and turns to the stage as his theme dies down, watching, waiting...

OOOOOOWHOOOOOO!

'Oh, ah, ah, ah, ah! Get up, come on get down with the sickness!'

Down with the Sickness plays to a loud pop and out comes the Bladewolf with the WWE Championship around his waist, no baseball bat in hand. He makes his way down to the ring and pauses at the apron, staring straight at Orton with a cold look on his face. Bladewolf climbs onto the ring apron then enters through the second rope and stare Orton down once he was inside the ring.

His theme dies down as he takes his coat off and Lillian Garcia begins introductions. "The following contest is scheduled for one-fall and it is for the WWE Championship! Introducing first, the challenger, from St. Louis, Missouri, weighing in at 245 lbs...RANDY ORTON!" Orton raised his arms and stared coldly at the WWE Champion. "And his opponent, from Death Valley, weighing in at 290 lbs, he is the WWE Champion...THE BLADEWOLF!"

Bladewolf takes the title off from around his waist and raises it without taking his eyes away from Orton before he shoves it into the referee's hands. The referee shows Orton the title, getting a nod from Orton. The referee shows the title off then hands it to someone at ringside before he searches both men for any illegal weapons of any kind but finds nothing so he calls for the bell.

'Ding! Ding! Ding!'

Bladewolf and Orton circle each other, eyes not moving off the other at all. They lock up and Orton quickly gets in a side headlock until Bladewolf shoves him off and shoves him down with his shoulder, then rebounds off the ropes but Orton slides under his feet, then Bladeowlf comes back into a grapple with Orton that they try to overpower but can't. Bladewolf then knees Orton in the stomach before he picks Orton up and drives him into the corner, driving his shoulder several times into his stomach, then goes for a hard right but Orton ducks it and starts hitting some rights of his own, to which Bladeowlf shove shim back.

Orton grins at the WWE Champion, while Bladewolf rolled his shoulders and neck as he glared at Orton. They locked up again, and this time Orton was quick to lock in a headlock but Bladewolf slipped behind him, wrapping his arms around Orton's waist but Orton was quick enough to get out of it and back off, knowing Bladewolf could hit a German Suplex. Orton gets's to his feet and the two men circle each other once more.

Bladewolf backed Orton into a corner before going for a hard right but Orton ducked, got Bladewolf into the corner and hits some rights of his own to the head of the Bladewolf then quickly backed off. Bladewolf shakes his ehad before he boots a running orton, taking him down. Bladewolf rebounds off the ropes and hits a runnig elbow drop, hooking the leg but gets a two count.

Bladwolf grabs Orton, locking in a headlock but Orton fights back and pushes to his feet, driving his elbow into the stomach of the WWE Champion before sending him into the ropes, then gives him an uppercut once Bladewolf came back. Bladewolf stumbled to his feet and turned into a hard right shot to the jaw from Randy Orton, who hits several more hard rights before he Irish whips Bladewolf into the corner where Orton unloads with heavy rights to the head of the Bladewolf then a couple of stomps to the legs, making Bladewolf sit on the bottom turnbuckle, allowing Orton to deliver a stomp to his head.

The referee backs Orton off and checks on Bladewolf but Bladewolf shakes his head and stands up, saying he can continue. Bladewolf keeps his eyes on orton as they circled each other again and Orton called for another lock up but Bladewolf went for a knee to the gut only for Orton to back up and hit a dropkick to the face of the WWE Champion.

Orton hooked the leg but Bladewolf kicks out at two. Orton hammers away at the head of the Champion with heavy right hands before he pulls Bladeowlf to his feet and goes for an Irish whip only for Bladewolf to reverse it, Orton halts himself on the ropes but Bladewolf runs and clotheslines the Challenger for the WWE Championship over the top rope and down to the floor. Bladewolf went to a knee, using the chance to get a breather as the referee began the ring count.

Orton pulls himself to his feet using the ring apron, but when he got to his feet Bladewolf came running and baseball slides out the ring right into Orton, taking them both down to the outside of the ring, and causing the referee to restart the count now that both men were outside. Bladewolf gets to his feet first, grabs Orton by the hair before he whips him into the barricade, runs and hits a high knee to the chest of Orton on the barricade then unloads with lefts and rights all over the challenger for the WWE Championship.

Bladewolf backs up a little, turning his back on Orton, before he turns and runs at Orton but the Legend Killer quickly retaliates with a clothesline that floors the WWE Champion. Orton grabs Bladewolf and rams his head into the barricade, sending the Champion to his knees. Orton grabs Bladewolf and brings him over to the commentary tables and rams Bladewolf's head into the RAW announce table, sending the Champion down to his back.

Orton rolls into the ring and back out to break the count, knowing he cannot win the title by count out or DQ. Orton grabs Bladewolf and send shim over the RAW announce table, causing JR and Jerry Lawler to move out the way. Orton walks over and pulls Bladewolf out from the table and tosses the WWE Champion back into the ring and slides in after him, crawling over and going for the cover but gets a two count as the Bladewolf kicks out.

Orton has a frustrated look as he glares at the referee before looking at the Champion and gets behind him as Bladewolf gets to his feet but is quickly put into a headlock by Orton, to which Bladewolf struggles to get out of it as he tries ripping Orton off him but Orton had his arms locked tight around the neck of the WWE Champion.

Orton keeps the hold locked in, the pressure making Bladewolf starting to fade as he goes to a knee, Orton using the headock as a Sleeper Hold of sorts. Bladewolf goes down as Orton keeps it locked in when Bladewolf starts coming back, getting to a knee and slowly pushes himself to his feet. He grabs Orton with both arms before lifting him up and runs back into the corner, driving orton into it hard which makes him let go due to the pain. Bladewolf fell to a knee for a moment but he got back to his feet, turns and runs at Orton only for Orton to move out the way which made Bladewolf hit the turnbuckles hard. He stumbled back, clutching his stomach. Orton kicks him in the side of the head and goes for the cover but Bladewolf kicks out at two.

Orton shakes his head before he grabs Bladewolf and sends him out the ring. Orton follows and grabs Bladewolf, bouncing his head off the steel steps then backs him uo a little before he goes for an Irish whip only for Bladewolf to reverse it and send Orton into the steel steps!

Bladeowlf falls to his knees, breathing heavily for a while. He gets his second breath back and gets to his feet before walking over to orton, stomping away on the challenger, then nails a few heavy right strikes to the head before he headbutts Orton, then starts ramming his head into the steel steps again and again.

Bladewolf picks Orton up and sends him into the barricade back-first. Bladewolf walks over and picks Orton up, tossing him back into the ring and slides in after him. Bladewolf grabs Orton from behind and hits a German Suplex, then a second, and then a a third! He hooks the leg! ONE! TWO! THR-! Orton kicks out at two.

Bladewolf grabs Orton and yanks on his left arm, driving his shoulder into it. Bladewolf hammers away at Orton's forehead a few times before he picks Orton up and drives him into the corner, hitting several shoulder thrusts before he wraps Orton's left arm around the ropes and pulls on the arm, causing orton to yell in pain before Bladewolf hit a sharp right punch to the joints connecting the arm to the shoulder.

Orton falls to a knee, clutching his arm. Bladewolf grabs Orton and hits another hard right to the head, then he elbows Orton in the back, then elbows him in the side of the head before he rams Orton's head into the turnbuckles. Bladewolf backs up, watching as Orton stumbles and turns around...ITO A GOOZLE! Bladewolf stands in the middle of the ring before he lifts Orton up for the Chokesla-! ORTON HITS AN RKO OUT OF NOWHERE!

The crowd popped at that sudden move as it was similar to what Orton did with Undertaker at WrestleMania 21 a couple of years ago. Orton hooks the leg! ONE! TWO! THRE-! BLADEWOLF KICKS OUT!

Orton slaps the mat in frustration before he starts hammering away at Bladewolf's forehead, then elbows him in the forehead. Orton keeps up the punches to the forehead before he headbutts Bladewolf then locks in a headlock, whips him into the ropes and Bladeowlf comes back, ducks a right and Orton whirls around quickly to see him running back...AND HITS ANOTHER RKO OUT OF NOWHERE! HE HOOKS THE LEGS! ONE! TWO! THRE-! BLADEWOLF KICKS OUT AT TWO!

Orton slaps the mat in frustration before he grabs Bladewolf, going to hit a third RKO but Bladewolf shoves him off...AND NAILS A SUPERKICK OUT OF NOWHERE! Bladewolf and Orton fall down, one from exhaustion, the other from the sudden move. Bladewolf gets to his feet and then raises his right hand to signal a Chokeslam is looming before he grabs Orton by the throat, pulls him to his feet before he lifts Orton up...AND PLANTS HIM WITH A CHOKESLAM! BLADEWOLF HOOKS THE LEG! ONE! TWO! THRE-! ORTON KICKS OUT!

Bladewolf got to his feet, shakes his head before he does the throat slit taunt then grabs Orton and lifts him onto his right shoulder, going for the Tombstone, but Orton wiggles out and Bladewolf turns around...INTO AN RK-! BLADEWOLF SHOVES HIM INTO THE REFEREE! THE REFEREE IS DOWN!

Orton sees this and grins before he turns to Bladewolf who walks over but Orton...KICKS HIM IN THE GROIN! Bladeowlf groans in pain as he falls down. He stumbles around, using the ropes to get to his feet and turns around...INTO ANOTHER LOW BLOW!

Bladewolf goes down this time and Orton quickly rolls out the ring, grabs a steel chair and slides into the ring with it. He puts it down in front of him and starts measuring Bladewolf, who gets to a knee before he stand sup and turns around...AND GETS HIT WITH A THIRD RKO! RIGHT ONTO THE STEEL CHAIR! Orton shoves the chair out of the ring and hooks the leg as the referee slowly got back into this! ONE!...TWO!...THRE-! BLADEWOLF KICKS OUT AGAIN!

"WHAT?!" Orton shouts in shock and anger as he punches the mat. The crow dpopped at seeing the Bladewolf kick out, loving the fact he kicked out and that the match was still going.

Orton gets to his feet and starts setting up for a fourth RKO. When Bladewolf gets to his feet he goes for it but Bladeowlf shoves him off again, then quickly runs...AND NAILS ORTON WITH A SPEAR!

Bladewolf rolls off Orton and slowly gets to his feet, taking off his sleeveless top and tossing it aside. He grabs Orton and lifts him up into a Fireman's Carry but Orton wiggles out, boots Bladewolf in the stomach...AND HITS A DDT! HE HOOKS THE LEGS! ONE! TWO! THRE-! BLADEWOLF KICKS OUT AGAIN!

'Leg's go Bladewolf! Let's go Orton! Let's go Bladewolf! let's go Orton! Let's go Bladewolf! Let's go Orton!' The fans were chanting, half of which were Bladewolf fans, the other half being Orton fans.

Orton gets to his feet and glares down at Bladewolf before he backs up into the corner and starts setting up for the Punt kick. Orton snarls before he runs...AND HITS THE PUN-! BLADEWOLF LIFTED HIM ONTO HIS SHOULDERS! BLADEWOLF HITS THE FURY OF THE WOLF! HE HOOKS THE LEGS! ONE! TWO! THREE! BLADEWOLF RETAINS THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP!

'Ding! Ding! Ding!'

Down with the Sickness plays as Bladewolf rolls off Orton and lays on his back. "Here is your winner and STILL WWE Champion...THE BLADEWOLF!" The referee gets the WWE Championship as Bladewolf slowly sits up, pain in his expression. He shakes his head before he gets to his feet.

Bladewolf takes his title and the referee raises his arm. Orton rolls out the ring and glares at Bladewolf. this wasn't over, not by a long shot.

Bladewolf raises the WWE Championship, standing on the middle turnbuckle and raises the title with both hands as fireworks go off in celebration. The reign continues. Bladewolf has held the WWE Title for 272 days, now he will be entering day 273. He may possibly be over 300 days soon...

The reign continues, but this feud between the Bladewolf and Randy Orton ain't over just yet.
