Chapter 70 Facing Your Fears

Keigo moaned and gripped the bed sheets on his large queen sized bed. He bit his bottom lip as he felt Dabi going down on him, eyes squeezed shut as he felt the immense pleasure build up and cause him to gasp. "D-Dabi I-" There was a trill and a groan as he came undone, warm hands moving to hold Keigo's hips as he arched and bucked them. His wings were spread out below him and stretched to their full length, taught and rigid until he finished. Keigo was panting as his wings ruffled and he cracked his golden eyes open to look at the black haired young man with scars and sutures all over his body. Wearing black pajama pants, Dabi had taken off his shirt, letting Keigo kiss his shoulders and chest until the older had gotten impatient and flipped them so Keigo was on his back. It was easy to undress Keigo and send him over the edge while his turquoise blue eyes memorized every gasp and groan.

Moving a hand to his head, Keigo pushed back his messy blonde hair and smirked at his boyfriend as Dabi crawled up to lay next to him. Careful of his wings, the blonde rolled over to lay on his side to face Dabi who was on his side facing Keigo. "You're wonderful, you know that hotstuff?" Dabi smirks and reaches a hand up to run his fingers through Keigo's hair. "You sure you aren't just saying that because I found Mila and give good head." Keigo blushed furiously as his wings curled around him. "All bonuses. My mom is really grateful. She was crying and wouldn't let go. She's been under a lot of stress lately." Dabi nodded, eyes taking in all the details of Keigo's face. "You mentioned, your parents got out of jail." The smile left Keigo's face as he reached up to take Dabi's hand, face unreadable. This made Dabi think before he spoke.

"How bad is it? I know you said they hurt your mom, and I guessed they were shit parents to you. You know all about my history, I'm willing to listen." There was no response for a while before Keigo tightened his hold on Dabi's hand. "They broke into mom's apartment on my 6th birthday. Tied her up and beat her repeatedly, my birth dad smacked me around. Robbed Azumi and even when she couldn't move, they beat her worse when I went for help. Mom needed brain surgery because of it, she still has some issues." Dabi pulled their joined hands close to his mouth and kissed them. "And you, pretty bird?" Keigo frowned as he looked at Dabi. There was no judgement on his face, no look of disbelief or disgust, and it made Keigo feel better about talking to Dabi. He wished their intimate time hadn't become such an emotional ride, but Dabi found Keigo was more likely to talk about what was really bothering him like this. When he was relaxed, comfortable, feeling safe. Definitely when he was alone with Dabi.

"When I was three, they tried to remove my wings and feet because they hated my bird traits. Held me to a table and took a kitchen knife to me. I don't remember any kindness from either of them in the entire time I lived with them. I was always beaten, yelled at, never fed. I would fly away and get lost, but would be brought back everytime the police got involved." He bit his lip before speaking softly. "Azumi took me in and became my mother when they threw me out into a blizzard when I was five." Dabi smiled a little and tightened his grip on Keigo's hand. "You know they can't do anything to you now. You're one of the top ten heroes in the country. You have strong parents who love you and each other, and you have me. I won't let anything happen to you." Keigo laughed a bit as he blinked back some tears.

"Yeah. It's still scary, you know? It feels like what I imagine you go through when you see your dad or any mentions of your family." Dabi made a small hm and kissed their clasped hands again as Keigo spoke softly. "Now that they're out, I don't trust them. I can't believe they would suddenly change for the better, you know?" Dabi looked thoughtful and pulled Keigo close into a hug, one hand pulling the blankets up over them. "If they do start something criminal in the area, I'd know. What do they look like?" Keigo furrowed his brow thinking. "My birth mother, Sara, has blonde hair and bright green eyes. She's usually struggling with a need for sex and drugs. Obi, my birth dad, he looks like me with red feathers mixed in his hair and no wings." Dabi frowned and looked down at Keigo. "Same eyes as you?" The younger nodded and looked up at Dabi. "Yeah, why?"

Frowning, Dabi kissed the top of his boyfriend's head and held him close in a warm embrace. "I think I saw him at the bar talking to an information broker. I can find out what information he was looking for and confirm if it's him." Keigo furrowed his brows. "He shouldn't be around any info brokers or doing underground criminal work. It would violate his parole." Dabi kissed Keigo's forehead, earning a happy sigh from the blonde. Then kissed his nose and now Krigo grinned as Dabi rested their foreheads together. "You don't worry about it. I'll look into it and let you know."

Keigo smiled a little as he closed his eyes. He was content to cuddle with Dabi while trying to ignore all thoughts of the Takami's. It was a bit difficult because he knew how much this was also affecting his mother. She had been so anxious they medicated her when Mila disappeared and he knew she had more medication in the bathroom. Now she was safe at home with Mila and Soji, and he was safely with Dabi in his own home. Dabi mumbled, breaking the silence between them. "Where's Jin? He's usually in the living room when I'm over." Keigo smirked, eyes still closed.

"He's on a date." Dabi blinked his eyes open curiously. "A date…" Keigo grinned and kept his eyes closed. "Yup." Popping the end. "With a medic we keep encountering out in the field. She showed up at the agency upset he skipped a check at the end of a job and one thing led to another. I don't expect him to be home tonight at all." Dabi smirked propped himself up on one arm as his turquoise eyes seemed to glow under the dim bedroom light. His free hand playfully started tracing its way along Keigo's collarbone. "So what I'm hearing is we don't have to worry about volume?" A smile spread across Keigo's face as he let his golden eyes stare into Dabi's.

"You read my mind."

Soji stared at his computer screen frowning. Headphones on, he had been rewatching the University surveillance video of Azumi's assault again. Something was bugging him about it and he couldn't place the problem. After the first time he had seen it, Soji went home and cuddled with Azumi for the rest of the night. It had upset him way more than he thought it would. Then they watched it again together while Azumi recounted smells and things the recording hadn't caught. Soji loved his wife so much and wanted to ease some of the stress she was going through. The timing of his re-opening of Azumi's assault, the Takami's being released and Mila getting lost had piled a lot of stress on her. Soji wanted to help relieve some of it.

The video ended and he sighed, removing his headphones as he started to turn it all off. There was a knock on his office door and Soji called for whoever it was to come in. He didn't have any clients for another hour, so he wasn't sure who it would be. Akina walked in, smiling as he set a folder down. "Hey, Rubi said you were watching some camera feed, sorry to interrupt. This is a new settlement offer that the Endeavor Agency just dropped off." With a smile, Soji took the file and flipped it open as Akina peaked at the grey screen of the video. "What were you working on?" Soji shook his head and popped the disk out, sliding it into a sleeve.

"Azumi's assault case from years ago. The Private Investigator wanted me to look at it and see if anything was noticeable that he missed." Soji sry the disk down and started skimming the new offer. Akina looked at the disk and then his younger brother. "You have this look that tells me you have an idea but can't confirm it." Soji glanced at his older brother and sighed. "The mannerisms look so so so familiar but I can't place it for the life of me." Akina picked up the disk and turned it over in his hands. "Is there sound on the video?" Soji nodded as he looked at the offer again. "It's mostly grunts and swearing and threats. Not quite a whisper but it's really low."

Akina stopped moving the disk around and looked pointedly at Soji. "If it's familiar to you, it might be familiar to me. Mind if I take a listen?" Soni motioned for him to help himself as he pulled out a red pen and began to underline and circle parts. "Just make sure to wear headphones and lock your office door. It's not pleasant." Akina nodded and grabbed the same headphones Soji had sitting on his desk before he disappeared into his own office. Soji watched him leave and then focused on the offer to his client.

It was better than the first one they tried. It had more of what his client asked for and would pay out more than he needed. There was questionable wording that Soji would bring up with his client over lunch, to make sure the Endeavor Agency wasn't trying to get one over on either of them. It seemed unfair that the main thing he couldn't get them to budge on was their demand that this incident stay private and never be spoken to the news media. Despite the many things Soji knew Endeavor was guilty of, an entire team of lawyers was protecting him and hiding it away.

It was the same thing Soji was doing, if he was being honest with himself. Not just for his family but those his family considered family. Touya and Jin for example. He had covered up Dabi's arrest from the courthouse riots. Soji also had taken an interest in Jin with Hook Shot, and helped with putting legal pressure on the Pro Hero about the drug supplement use. It made Soji sort of respect the legal team Endeavor kept on call, that they worked so hard to keep anything that could ruin their client's image out of the media. It didn't mean Soji liked it.

He called his client and scheduled a lunch for the next day to go offer the newest offer, because his client was in therapy today. He also made sure to keep his weekend clear to take Mila to the indoor quirk playground that had a flying zone. She was trying to fly more and more, and a part of Soji had no idea how Azumi had handled Keogo when he was flying around at that age. The silver haired lawyer was seriously considering a child harness and leash, which made him chuckle as Akina knocked on the door and stepped in.

Soji glanced up with a smile that dropped off his face when he saw Akina's eyes full of concern and his face pale as if he was afraid of whatever was concerning him. Soji furrowed his brow as he looked at Akina, and noticed his brother stepped into his office and shut the door. "Jeez, Akina. I know the video is rough to watch, but you look worse than I did after my first time seeing it." His brother sat down on the opposite side of Soji's desk and reverently set the disk down between them as he took a shaky deep breath. "I know who that is."

There was a heavy silence in the office as Soji stared at Akina. "You're sure? I know your quirk let's you rem-" Akina cut him off sharply before swallowing nervously. "I'm sure." There was silence again. As Soji felt more and more uncomfortable. It felt like hours before Akina slowly spoke again. "I called dad, because he knows exactly where he is and might know more about this than we do." Soji was getting very concerned as he finally asked. "Akina, who is it?" His brother took another deep breath before speaking slowly.

"It's Hasu Nakamura, the same Uncle that helped dad start the law firm."

Azumi made hotpot for dinner, showing Mila how to thinly slice vegetables with a peeler and how to add them to the pot as they worked together. Keigo was home tonight, the two had watched him on TV bringing in a robber and saving some civilians from the gunshots the robber had sprayed around trying to get away from the heroes on his trail. There were times Azumi thought the cameramen for the news were as crazy as some of the heroes she saw on TV. Mila had cheered on her brother and then ran around the living room with her wings out yelling "Whoosh!" as Azumi laughed and suggested the Hot Pot for dinner. It distracted Mila from her indoor flying enough to beg to help make dinner.

Soji came home and called out his arrival, earning a loud happy chirp from Mila as she ran to see her daddy. Azumi smiled in the kitchen as she heard him pick up their daughter and ask her about her day. Despite her stress and concerns about the Takami's, Azumi felt comfortable right now with her husband and daughter safely under their roof. Keigo, she knew, was home with Jin, because he had called after work to see what she was making for dinner. Jin had been in the background yelling about Keigo having no faith in his dumpling making skills. Now, she grinned as Soji walked into the kitchen, Mila on his hip telling him all about the Hot Pot for dinner as he inhaled and made a happy noise. "It smells delicious."

He gave Azumi a kiss on the cheek. "Hello wife." Azumi grinned and turned the heat off so she could get ready to serve dinner. "Hello husband, how was work?" Soji paused and looked at her with a look she knew meant he didn't want to talk about it right now. "Later?" He asked softly and she nodded easily. "Of course. Get washed up and I'll get dinner on the table." Soji looked to Mila playfully. "Hear that little bird? Let's go wash those hands of yours!" She chirped happily and let him carry her to the bathroom.

Dinner was a picture perfect moment of domestic bliss. Followed by all three playing a boardgame and then Soji watching the news while Azumi gave Mila a bath. Both adults got her to bed and then Soji sat on their own bed, with the bedroom door shut, letting out a deep sigh. Azumi was getting ready for bed as she spoke quietly. "Dr. Seeks asked if I could work a few extra hours tomorrow. Would you be able to pick up Mila from Sion's?" Soji nodded as he stared off in thought. Azumi moved onto the bed sitting behind him and hugged him gently as her forehead rested on his upper back, her left hand held by him around the front as she spoke again.

"What's wrong?" Soji blinked before bringing her hand up to kiss her knuckles. "If you found out who assaulted you, would you want to see them?" Azumi thought about that moment before speaking softly again. "Yes. I would want to ask a few questions, like why me. What they gained from what they did. Whether they regretted it." Soji nodded again as he asked. "And if you never found out?" She kissed the back of his neck. "Then I'm not worse off than where I am right now. I know you're working so hard on it. After getting the results for Mila and what happened to her mother, I'll be ok if my case stays unsolved."

Now Soji turned and wrapped her up in a hug as he buried his face in her soft blue hair. "I don't want you to be hurt anymore. Not by this, not by the Takami's. I want you to be safe and happy as long as I can give that to you." Azumi smiled and ran her fingers through his hair. "Then I'll be fine. Whatever has you conflicted, you don't have to tell me until you're ready." Soji sat up to argue and Azumi put a finger on his lips. "I mean it. Whatever it is, I can wait for you to tell me. If you're never ready, or you think it will hurt me too much, I trust your judgement. So please don't let it stress you out and make you upset." He smiled a little and wrapped his arms around her, hugging her close.

"How did I get so lucky to marry the most beautiful and strongest woman in Fukuoka?" Azumi laughed and helped him lean back so they were laying on the bed, Soji looking into her eyes and brushing some of her hair back as she spoke. "Well, you got Keigo's ok first, and then you claimed to have counter arguments for every argument I could have come up with. In reality, I think I got lucky that you even asked." He grinned at her. "I thought you liked my verbal skills? Or was it really my tongue skills?" He leaned down to kiss her as she tried to keep quiet "Soji!" He chuckled as she covered her blushing face with a hand and laughed.

Out in the hallway, Mila was leaning on the wall outside their closed bedroom door listening. She smiled when she heard them laughing and had to restrain her wings from flapping too loudly as she slipped back into her room. The little winged girl had so many questions to ask Sion about tomorrow.
