All the girls are in the living room of their apartment, after the disaster that has been the last two hours - Faragonda got in before anything too incredibly terrifying could happen to the Trix, all but forcing Bloom to let them go.
They think, anyway. Its kinda hard to imagine anyone forcing Bloom to do anything.
Bloom didn't say as much, but they could all see she wasn't particularly pleased about backing off at a look from Faragonda. The death glare the Trix got when they were sent back to Cloud Tower, though…they should've legitimately burst into flames, especially since Bloom could access her magic. Ten minutes and a lot of explaining later, and they got their magic back and got permission to head back to their Apartment.
Musa leans into the back of the sofa, muttering "Well, that was something else, ladies."
Stella groans, massaging the area on her ribs where that thing picked her up - it wasn't exactly gentle, she counts herself lucky she didn't crack any ribs! - and says "Yeah, something. Hey, Bloom?"
Said girl looks up from the other side of the couch, where she's sitting cross-legged with Hedwig sitting in her lap. "Yeah?"
"Where'd you learn to fight like that? It was incredible!"
Musa asks "Also, where'd you learn to get so scary?"
Techna adds "And the way you broke through Headmistress Faragonda's binding on your magic? That's supposed to be impossible!"
Bloom blinks, then says "One at a time, ladies. Alright…so…" After a minute, she shrugs and says "Years of practice, those same years of practice, and I learned to use my magic earlier than most. Grew up using it, couldn't imagine living without it." Had Fudge and Umbridge had their way and sentenced her…well, there wouldn't have been a Ministry for Magic any longer in Britain. The physical building, anyway - she'd have made sure to leave Sirius and Lucius alive, Amelia Bones, to. Whoever tried to keep her from killing Fudge and Umbridge though… S
tella's questioning voice breaks her from her darkening thoughts, asking "How long ago was that? Most of us don't start really using our magic until we hit puberty, but things still do happen from time to time."
Flora nods, and says "None of the plants in my room ever died, no matter how much or how little sunlight my room got."
Musa adds "I've got perfect pitch. I can recreate any piece of music I hear."
Techna says "I was creating video games by the time I was seven."
Stella says "I'm great with colors. Something to do with the color spectrum in light, I don't remember the explanation all that well since it was years ago."
Bloom hums, then says "Lucky you ladies. My magic awoke fully when I was six, and it took me over a year not to accidentally become an arsonist. And then another four until I went to a magical school to learn spells and such."
Hedwig trills and hops up onto the arm of the couch, nipping gently at her ear when she's in her new spot. When Bloom looks up, she's faced with identical looks on four other faces - oh Merlin, they look a bit like sharks on the hunt for a source of fresh blood. They also look like they won't stop until they're satisfied. Bloom groans, then says "Ask away, ladies. Its written all over your faces that your almost literally dying to."
Stella asks "Six? Your magic awoke when you were six?"
Musa asks "How are you still alive?!"
Bloom blinks, asking "What? Context, please. Something tells me this answer won't be very good."
Techna says "The earlier a person's magic awakens, the stronger their connection to it grows…and the more dangerous it is for them. You could've been burned out by your magic, Bloom, children can't regulate the flow like teenagers can. A teenage Fairy's body can more or less handle using up even all our magic at once without many complications, but if you started at the age of six…it's a miracle you didn't get overwhelmed and burn yourself out. Especially since you said you were using magic all that time to learn to fight."
Bloom blinks in shock, putting the pieces together rather quickly - she couldn't not use her magic else she'd get a smashing headache and it would get used on its own. It would build up inside her, forcing her hand in some way or showing itself when she was in trouble. And that stopped around the time she hit puberty, the headaches getting less and less frequent as that second summer passed and she started growing again. But…Merlin, she could've taken out the entire British Isle?! If Vernon beat her too badly or Dudley and his gang of friends got 'lucky' and caught her by surprise? She's going to kill the lot of them…and Dumbledore. Had it not been for him, she wouldn't have been there in the first place.
Bloom rubs her temples, and says "Well, that's…news. So, long story short, I've been a nuclear bomb just waiting to go off all this time…bloody wonderful."
Techna asks "What happened to make your magic react? To make it fully awaken, you would've had to nearly die."
Bloom gives her a mirthless smile, and says "Funny you should mention that. I did nearly die. And I don't particularly like talking about it, so can we change the subject?"
Flora nods, then asks "So, where'd you go to school before now? You said you went somewhere."
Bloom nods, and says "Don't make fun of the name, but its called Hogwarts. School of Witchcraft and Wizardry - in case your wondering, Earth doesn't have Fairies like us. Not anymore, at least. It has Wiccans, a society that's in hiding from the nonmagical people to escape prosecution ever since public opinion culminated in the Witch Trials seven hundred years ago."
Musa asks "So, when you say 'witches'-"
Bloom chuckles, and says "I don't mean people like the Trix. Wiccans can't usually fly on their own, or anything else like what we can do. I was named the Strongest Witch of our age because…well, I outperformed everyone else with utter ease. I never needed a wand like literally everyone else uses back there, and honestly…I probably would've destroyed any other wand I tried to use."
Stella curiously asks "Other?"
Bloom takes out her wand, and says "Its called the Dragon Wand, 'cause of this legend about a dragon giving a bit of its own fire that became the wand. Don't ask me how, or if its even true, because I don't know. What I do know, however, is that it works for me perfectly when it killed anyone else that tried to use it. Its an outlet for my magic…scared poor Ollivander about out of his mind when the wand blew up the box and flew straight towards me. I caught it, and fire came shooting out of the tip. He fainted."
Musa wryly says "Gee, I wonder why. A killer-wand blows up the box it was in and chooses you, making you catch fire..."
Bloom shrugs, and says "I learned spells I can use there, and I learned some measure of control, but…things kept happening there. It was supposed to be the safest place in all of Britain, but I kept getting put in life-threatening situations at least once a year. Usually more. And the Headmaster of the place was almost obscenely obsessed with me. So, I transferred to Alfea."
Musa asks "So…how'd you get here? At Alfea? From what your saying, it sounds like you wouldn't have known how."
Bloom smirks, and says "I didn't, but Hedwig did. She could always find wherever she needed to go, even before she was turned into a Phoenix. I sent her to the headmistress with a letter, she sent a reply back, we corresponded a bit, and then Hedwig brought me here yesterday. Simple as that."
They spend a few more minutes sharing life stories, and then Bloom puts Hedwig on her shoulder and says "Lovely as this has been…I'm calling it for the night. I'm sore, and we've got classes tomorrow."
Plus she still needs to wrap her head around the detail that she very seriously could've killed all of Britain if she'd become a Fairy's version of an Obscurial. Merlin, that's…truly terrifying, it makes her blood turn to ice.
Damn Dumbledore and the Dursleys to hell and back!
AN: Hey, everyone! Yes, the next chapter is up! Got a lot of questions about the last two chapters, like how did Bloom get to Alfea and such...so, here it is. Also, for everyone who's wondering where i got the scene about cleaning the entire school...please watch the Nickelodeon special. Its the only version I've seen, as I didn't have the other two channels growing up. For some reason, the girls have to clean the entire school despite not having done anything wrong in the special - it didn't make much sense to me either, but there you have it. I did try to make it a little better, though, having all the freshmen Fairies get some difficult task to complete.
If anyone's wondering why I'm suddenly adding the bit about Bloom being a ticking time-bomb this late in the story...who on Earth, literally, would've known about it?! Before anyone says the Room could've gotten a book on the subject, she'd have still had to know to ask for the book in the first place. As it is, its only because most of her magic had something to do - keep her alive, since the Dursleys didn't believe in feeding Bloom much at all - that Surrey is still on the map. So...yeah, that. I've had the idea in the back of my head for a while now, I just couldn't realistically put it in until now.
Anyway, enjoy! More updates coming soon! Please review!
