"No fair! You cheated!" Lily Luna Potter screamed. Hugo shook his head.
"I did not. You lost, fair and square."
"I would have won if you'd let me use the right dice!" Lily argued. Hugo only sighed.
"We both know those things roll exactly what you want them to roll."
"No they don't. They don't always roll doubles," Lily commented, pulling the aforementioned dice from the pocket of her shorts. She tossed them onto the floor, smiling as they both landed on five. Hugo raised an eyebrow.
"They don't always, just almost always."
"You've jinxed those things to work for you, which is why you win every single game."
"Only when you don't cheat."
"It's not cheating if someone else wins, Lily. Fine, let's find a different game, one that doesn't involve dice."
"Or boring muggle cards?" Lily asked. "Or better yet, it's stopped raining, let's go outside and see if we can find some worms to put in James' bed," she smirked. Hugo blinked.
"Why?"
"He ate my last chocolate frog and won't let me have the card back, and it's one I need!" Lily whined as if it explained everything. Maybe it did, in her mind. Hugo honestly thought Lily was mad most of the time, but she was his best and, currently, only friend. So he rose to his feet and followed her outside.
"Hugo, Lily, if you're going outside, please put on your rain boots!"
"Yes, Mum!" Lily called back, stopping at the door and picking up a pair of pink rain boots with frogs on them. Hugo didn't have a pair here, so he just wore Albus'. They were a little big but not too bad. Once outside, the search for worms was completely forgotten as the two noticed a large rainbow crossing the sky.
"We should go look for the end of it! There might be a pot of gold!"
"That's a tall tale, there's no pot of gold," Hugo argued, but there was no stopping Lily Luna Potter when she decided to do something. She smiled widely and grabbed Hugo's arm, leading him towards where she hoped the rainbow ended. Hugo wished he'd just thrown the game, maybe then they could have stayed inside, and not gone looking for something he was sure was going to end up with them both being in trouble again.
