The guys walked off the plane and looked at the far west corner of the base.

"What's all that?" asked Clay as he pointed toward the news vans.

"A party we weren't convened to?" said Full Metal.

Eric and the guys stopped as a jeep driving the general stopped in front of them.

"General."

"Commander Blackburn," said Ian as he looked at Eric then Sonny, "Petty Officer Quinn, I need both of you to come with me."

"What's going on?" asked Clay. "Why are there news vans outside the base?" He looked further out and then looked at Goodwin puzzled. "And a medical triage center on the back parking lot?"

"What I need to tell Commander Blackburn and Officer Quinn is of private business," answered Goodwin. "The rest of you can head back inside to your quarters where you will be advised of the situation we are in."

"General Goodwin," said Eric, "with all due respect Sir, we are a family, whatever private business this pertains to, we're all affected."

Goodwin looked at him, then at the others. "Very well. First of all, I want to make it clear that you are not to address the press or make any statement. Three hours ago, a very unfortunate incident involving one of our own has brought on a critical situation without precedent on this base. The result of this incident has led to some of our men and women being injured, while others are still trapped and at this time, we don't know what their status is. We are still trying to get them out."

"Among those who we still don't know of are Warrant Officer Ray Perry," Ian looked at Clay and Lisa as they gasped lightly. He then looked at Eric and Sonny, "and Emily."

Sonny looked at him with incredulous eyes. Eric's question, seemed muffled in his ears and in slow motion.

"Where are they trapped?"

"In TOC. We've set up a search and rescue and a temporary cell, you should come with me."

Eric and Sonny handed over their bags to the rest of the guys and hopped in the jeep.

"We'll meet you there," said Jason as they drove away.

When they walked into the boardroom, they looked around. The pictures of all the people that had been in that room were posted on a white board and their status was written just underneath. Before they could spot Emily or Ray on the board, Lindell came to them.

"She's alive and so is Ray."

Both Eric and Sonny let out a sigh of relief.

"Are they OK?"

"They are injured. We're doing everything we can to get to them."

"And when will that be?" asked Eric.

"They are still stabilizing the first part of the room. One wrong move and it could be worse. We're only going to get one chance of getting them out, it needs to be 100% safe and secured."

"How do you know they are OK?"

"We've managed to establish radio contact with them," said Greyson as he pointed to the corner of the room.

"I want to talk to her," said Sonny as he started to walk over. Greyson put a hand on his shoulder to slow him down.

"What?" said Sonny.

"Wait just one minute." He then called out to Greg.

"Dr. Greg Johnson," he said as he shook hands with Eric and Sonny.

"Commander Eric Blackburn."

"Petty Officer Sonny Quinn."

"You're Emily's husband and brother," said Greg as he took them toward the radio corner. He had already advised Naima of Ray's condition and they too had managed to talk briefly together.

"Emily's right leg is currently trapped under, what appears to be a big and heavy slab of concrete."

If someone had stabbed Sonny into the heart it would have felt exactly what he was feeling at that moment.

"Is.." He could hardly put the words into an audible sentence. "Is, she…Is she in pain?"

"No. She says she doesn't feel any pain. She's probably got a few broken ribs, but she's conscious and alert. That's a good thing."

"What about Ray?"

"Ray has an abdominal perforation that Emily is putting pressure on as best as she can. Right now, she's the difference between him still being alive and not."

They both nodded.

"What does her injury imply? I mean what happens when you get inside?"

"The first thing will be to assess the leg. From what she tells us it's quite dark inside the room. The concrete could only be on the foot, just as it could be on the entire lower leg. Depending on what is being compressed and with what weight, we need to be extremely careful in removing it. As she feels no pain, it's more than probable that blood circulation has been lessened. If we release the pressure too quickly, it could kill her."

Sonny sat down on the table within his reach. Eric put his hand on Sonny's shoulder, not just out of comfort, because right there and then they were going through the same hell, but simply because he wasn't sure he'd be able to stay standing if it wasn't the case.

"When we removed the slab, it will need to be progressive and painful. The best thing will be to sedate her prior to starting."

"I want to talk to her. I wanna talk to my wife," said Sonny.
