Chapter 74: Power of the Moon
*****Previously on Delos*****
As the moon rose, all of the were-creatures evilly grinned. Moonlight fell over them, and they all changed.
Jacob grew brown fur and a buff body with bear claw hands and feet. Hawk grew wings under his arms with bird claw hands and legs. Lillian had the nine tails of a kitsune with fox claws. Griffin now had lion claws with golden fur and a fierce mane. Celia became a black cat creature, but more dangerous. Selena had antlers sprout from her head, also gaining deer legs and tail. Genesis had the arm-wings of a snowy owl with bird claw legs and amber eyes. Nicos was like Alain's wolf form, only with silver fur. Katie became an orange and black wild cat creature. Jax grew scales with lizard claws. Eros got a horse mane with a unicorn horn and horse hind legs. Basil had the lower body of a snake with green and black scales with snake fangs and eyes.
Alain and Caitlin were in front, fully transformed. The shock and dangerous auras of their frightening appearances made it seem like the whole battle froze in place. Most of the ghosts had the common sense to back away from the were-creatures.
"I like them more and more everyday," Conner smirked.
"The world is so lucky that your bullet proof skin makes you immune to their infectious bite," Roy said, disturbed by thoughts of a were-creature combined with Superboy's strength, super jump, and anger.
"The moon gives us strength," Caitlin hissed.
"And you're about have all that strength brought down on you like a meteor on a house of straw," Alain growled.
The were-creatures, Red Arrow, Pandora, and Superboy all looked at him in a weird way.
"Okay, I've been spending way too much time with Phantom and Siren," he said.
*****Present Time*****
It was the full moon, and were-creatures have entered the battle. Things were about to go to the dogs, cats, and every other animal that the fourteen mystics were.
''So, which one of you wants to be the first one to be eaten,'' Jacob growled.
They all looked at the agents, growling, hissing, neighing, and whatever sound a stag makes. Hawk and Genesis both took off into the air. Lillian, Celia, Selena, and Basil all vanished into the surrounding forest, their animal furs hiding them in the trees. Jacob, Griffin, Eros, Nicos, Katie, and Jax joined Alain and Caitlin up front as they charged.
"Do we join them, or just stay out of their way," Roy asked.
Superboy yelled, running back into the battle.
"Join them, okay then," Roy accepted, notched his silver bow again. "You really do have to give credit to Phantom and Siren. They sure know how to pick interesting friends."
"That's my sons for you," Pandora smiled.
The were-creatures that had hidden themselves in the woods ambushed the agents in the back. Who would have thought a fox, snake, stag, and panther would make such a deadly combo. Basil waved her arm, her snake tail shooting out and wrapping two agents. She flung them into the nearest tree.
"I really love having this tail," Basil snickered. "Not to mention the poisonous fangs."
To prove her point, she pulled in another agent with her tail and sank her fang right into his neck.
"Really, Basil," Selena said, nailing an agent in the head with her hoofed foot. "Leave the fangs and the biting to the vampires."
"I'm a were-snake, it happens," Basil smirked.
Celia was, by no means, a merciful were-panther. Jungle cats were always more temperamental than were-cats like Caitlin. And they took the "eye for an eye, life for a life" rule very seriously. To them, it wasn't just a rule. It was their way of life. No one messes with a were-creature, or their pack, and gets away with it.
"Don't you run from me," Celia yelled, going after a few agents that ran when they saw her emerald cat eyes. "Stay and fight, you cowards."
"Oh those poor men," Lillian shook her head. "I'd feel bad for them if they weren't homicidal maniacs."
Hawk flew down, in a dive. He split the agents right down the center of their small army. His falcon claws took down a good half a dozen as he did.
"The moon is full, and that spells your doom," he glared.
A few agents took aim at the were-falcon.
"Oh no, you don't," Jacob said.
He grabbed any agent he saw with their gun aimed at his friend. He took five agents that had been within his reach. The were-bear then, using his enhanced strength, did something strange to punish them for trying to hurt his friend. He started to juggle, using their bodies instead of balls or bowling pins.
"Seriously, Jacob," Katie raised an eyebrow, taking a second to slice an agent behind her.
"I may not be able to go out very often, but I always find a way to attend the circus," Jacob smirked.
While it may surprise most, Jacob did love the circus. But his favorite has always been Haly's. They were some of the few circus's that treat their animal acts with respect. Especially Peanuts the elephant.
He had been there the night Tony Zucco's sabotage had caused the Grayson's demise. He had also been there while Robin, Superboy, Artemis, , and Red Arrow had been posing as the Daring Dangers. Like they keep saying, magic and mystics are always around. Even in places nobody would ever look.
"Yeah well, quit the clowning and get back to fighting," Katie told him.
"It's juggling, not clowning," Jacob said, then throwing his juggled agents behind him and letting the ghost centaur blast them.
"Then maybe you should stop acting like a clown," Katie rolled her eyes.
"Clown can be a compliment," Jacob countered. "Where would the world be without laughter."
"I am friends with a nutcase," the were-cheetah facepalmed.
"You love me and you know it," Jacob joked.
"Boys," Katie huffed.
Red Arrow very much was living up to the "Arrow" in his name. The moon bow seemed to match him just as much as music went with Siren or as acrobatics went with Nightwing. The hairs on the back of his neck stood on ends. Immediately turning around and firing another arrow, a flash was the result.
"That was a close one," he sighed in relief.
Before him was an agent he just froze. But this one also had a frozen anti-magic blast only a few inches away Red's face. He had shot the arrow just in time.
"Getting slow in your old age," Conner smirked toward his teammate.
"Just because you're only six years old, doesn't mean the rest of us are old," Roy threw back.
"Of the few advantages that being a clone give you, a young age is one of them," Conner crossed his arms.
Red Arrow was glad how much Superboy's relationship with Superman had changed because of Siren. Siren has the power of pure heart, but that also means he takes matters of the heart as seriously as the siren of love. And he values family love above all else.
Alain and Caitlin were the most destructive of all the were-creatures. It was their home they were protecting.
Alain slid along his ice path. Killer Frost wasn't the only one that could use them as an advantage. Weather over their heads or right near the ground, Alain was able to strike fast and avoid all attempts to shoot him.
"There's a reason why ice is slippery," he smirked. "Because even ice users are hard to catch."
The werewolf jumped off of his slid, slamming down into a group of agents. When he landed, an explosion of ice resulted on contact. It looked like a splash that a fat person would make in a pool. As the ice sprang up all around him, some agents were frozen while others were impaled by the ice spikes.
"People don't call me Winter Wraith for nothing," Alain growled. "Winter is here, and it's the coldest one on record."
Caitlin was using the best of her cat agility. When she wasn't jumping from tree to tree, she was shooting them with a light arrow, blasting them with a solar beam, or maiming them with her claws.
"Catwoman's got nothing in me," she snickered.
Her hands lit up. Spinning like a ballerina with super speed, she unleashed her light. Diamond light shards scattered around her. Multiple agents fell by her sunshine.
"That would be lesson number one on why you shouldn't mess with a were-cat," Caitlin sneered.
She rose her hand, sending up a flash bang of sunlight. It blinded the agents around her. Raising her other hand as a fist, covering it in light. She punched her fist right into the ground. Much like Superboy punching the ground, she caused a wave of light to explode out. Like a ripple effect in a pond, her light wave caused two dozen agents to be thrown in all different parts of the forest.
She looked over at Alain, who had just froze another agent to a boulder.
"I just know that we're gonna get a talking to from Krinos and Lena when this is over," Caitlin told him.
"I'm pretty sure those two are causing plenty of damage on their own, so it won't be like they'll have any room to lecture us," Alain chuckled.
"They'll still try," Caitlin giggled. "You know how nature users are."
"I do, and that is why I prefer to stay on their good side," Alain said.
He threw an ice crystal, pinning an agent to a tree.
"Most of the time, anyway," he smirked.
