I sit in biology, staring at T&T as she outlines the importance of the kidneys.
The chair next to me is empty, is always empty.
Edward dropped AP biology the day after we started the break.
I'd offered to instead, but he said it was my only AP class, so I should stay.
He doesn't need it anyway; his GPA is one of the highest in our year.
I'm actually doing really well in this class without him, much to my amusement.
He really was a big distraction.
The class breaks up and I link arms with Alice in the hallway. My heart starts racing as I see Edward at the end of the hall, talking to Corey.
He's put some muscle on, his cheeks fuller, eyes bright and clear. They sparkle at me as we lock gazes, and his lips curve up a little.
This is our new game.
Smiles and stares.
I feel the familiar pang in my chest, that ache that comes from missing him, but it's soothed by the warmth that spreads there too, at seeing him healthy.
Heidi says that the stronger we are apart, the stronger we'll be together.
I want to be good for him, so smiles and stares are all we can have right now.
It's enough.
