A.N. — For the Order members I have covered, I seem to focus on their deaths. That just highlights how ineffective they were in fighting the forces of evil, both times around. The kids really did all the work, and the adults paid for it with their lives a lot of the time.

77. Emmeline Vance

Her murder might've been overshadowed by Amelia Bones', but Emmeline Vance's death was just as critical a loss for the Light. That it was the Order's double agent, Severus Snape, that divulged the information that led to Emmeline's demise, rankled.

Snape's position in the Dark Lord's inner circle hinged on the intel he conveyed to Voldemort. The Order members knew this war would not be without casualties. But that it was affable Emmeline, who'd rather be flying than fighting, hurt.

She was memorialized, in both magical and muggle press, but the void of the Order's beating heart being silenced lingered.
