Chapter 80: UB Files 07: Assembly
"Alright folks, pack it up!"
Work ground to a halt at the stadium's construction site. Machines powered down as the workers began making their way out of the yard.
"Man, this stadium sure is a lot of work."
"Tell me about it! But hey, if this is what it takes to put Alola on the map, then I'm all for it!"
"Hear hear, buddy."
Just then, a low rumbling was heard, shaking the ground as it passed.
"Wh-what is that?"
"I don't know, but I'm getting out of here!"
"Wait for me!"
Some of the workers were frozen in place momentarily, only to book it when a stack of metal shifted to reveal some sort of crab-like creature, a single glowing eye peeking out from a hole near the bottom. Another Ultra Beast had arrived.
When Max, Dawn, and Iris reached the scene, the building site had been abandoned, with the Ultra Beast lumbering through building materials.
"Man, these things just get weirder and weirder."
"Tell me about it. Last time I fought a bunch of living electrical cords."
"Whatever, let's just get rid of it. Go, Sceptile!"
"Typhlosion, let's go!"
"Dragonite, I choose you!"
The Ultra Beast, frustrated by their presence, swung its large leg out to swat them away, but fortunately they all jumped or flew out of the way in time.
"Typhlosion, use Flame Wheel!"
"Ice Punch, Dragonite!"
Before the monster could wind up another swing, Dawn's Typhlosion charged up and spun around, burning it and causing it to stumble back. Before it could catch its footing, Iris's Dragonite flew up and punched it hard with a frozen fist, causing it to howl in pain.
"Leaf Blade, Sceptile!"
Max's starter was next, slashing at the Ultra Beast multiple times, causing its body to crack as it fell over. Unfortunately, it wasn't down for the count yet. Getting back up on its feet, it began chucking rocks at its opponents, who managed to dodge most of them before taking a few hits.
"This guy won't stay down!"
"We need to put more heat on him! Typhlosion, use Lava Plume!"
"Hyper Beam, Dragonite!"
"Bullet Seed, Sceptile!"
Slamming its fists into the ground, Typhlosion sent a huge wave of lava at the Ultra Beast, connecting and sending it flying. Dragonite then flew up above it, shooting a powerful Hyper Beam at it and sending it plummeting back to Earth. Struggling to its feet, it was quickly bombarded by seeds shot out of Sceptile's mouth, knocking it back down to the ground. But before Max could send a Pokeball out to capture it, it swatted their Pokemon away, causing all three great pain.
"Man, how much punishment can this thing take?"
"I don't know, but we'd better think of something fast!"
"Accelrock, Lycanroc!"
Suddenly, a Midday form Lycanroc shot onto the scene, hitting the Ultra Beast head on. Its trainer came running up, revealing himself to be...
"The Masked Royal!"
"Step aside, kids, and let a professional handle this. Lycanroc, hit him with Stone Edge!"
Lycanroc landed gracefully shooting pillars of sharp rock shooting out of the ground, hitting the Ultra Beast straight in the chest. Hit hard, the beast began to stumble.
"He's weak, Lycanroc! Let's finish him off with a Z-Move! Continental Crush!"
The Ultra Beast groaned, shaking itself off and surveying its surroundings...
Just in time to see Lycanroc drop a huge mound of Earth on it, knocking it out with one powerful blow.
"Good job, Lycanroc!"
While The Masked Royal stroked his loyal canine, Max threw a Beast Ball, easily capturing the creature.
"Thanks for the hand!"
"Hey, no problem! Can't let the site of Alola's future get messed up! Especially not when I'm competing in the league!"
"Wait, you're competing?"
"Sure am! Which reminds me, I got to finish my laps. Come on, Lycanroc!"
"Roc!"
With that, the two jogged off, leaving the three teens rather confused.
"Well, that just happened."
"Does anyone else get the feeling that they know him?"
"Now that you mention it, kind of. Can't think of where, though..."
