Chapter 80 - Moving Forward
"It is with great pleasure that I present you, Logan Clay Stephenson, with the Indigo Trophy! Congratulations!" Mr. Goodshow said while handing over a large golden trophy to Logan. It had rainbow designs on the edges of it that glittered in the stadium lights.
Logan was emotional, but he took the trophy without crying. He held it over his head, and the crowd cheered for him. The competitors that had stuck around clapped, even Haruto. Dozens of photographers took Logan's pictures, and when he was finally allowed off of the winner's podium, he couldn't take two steps without flash photography blinding him momentarily.
"Logan, can we get a picture of you and Haruto together?" a photographer asked. He had dragged the boys together, and without even getting a yes from either one of them, snapped their picture and then disappeared into the crowd.
"I'm kind of glad I didn't win if this is how they're treating you," Haruto muttered. "Let's get to the back."
It took them roughly thirty minutes, because every five steps, they were asked to take pictures, but eventually, Logan was able to get to the backroom where Seshiru, Maleah, Sora, Aaron, Himawari, and Yurie were waiting. Haruto and Gordon followed him, and everyone was silent momentarily, waiting for Logan's first words after becoming the champion.
"Congrats, dude!" Himawari exclaimed, unable to read the room. He walked up to his friend and slapped him on the back. "You friggin' did it! I had very little hope for you, but you proved me wrong."
Aaron couldn't help but step up next. "Now I'm itching for a rematch! Best two out of three!"
"Me too!" Maleah exclaimed. "But, losing to the best trainer in Kanto isn't a bad thing, right?"
"You didn't lose to me," Seshiru said with a cocky grin. She looked at her friend. "Congratulations, Mr. Stephenson. You finally found a way to battle with your head and your heart."
"You're all fired up to battle him again," Sora muttered. "I think I'd need a lot of training first. Maybe I'm too nervous."
"I'm proud of ya!" Gordon said, choking back tears. "The first battle that I see from ya, and you win the Indigo Conference!"
Yurie walked forward. She had let herself cry, and she found that she couldn't stop. She looked at him in his blue eyes and smiled. "Logan, congrats. I'm happy for you."
Everyone was quiet again. Logan wanted to say something, but no matter what he thought of, he believed it wouldn't be good enough.
"Kiss her already!" Himawari exclaimed, slapping Logan on the back once more.
Haruto glared. "Don't you dare!"
Logan sighed and then focused back on Yurie. He opened his mouth to speak but was promptly interrupted.
"Well, that wraps up another conference!" Mr. Goodshow exclaimed as he came through the locker room doors. He regarded everyone and then smiled at Logan. "Since you've won. We have information for you, and there's more prizes than just the trophy."
"Which, I'll be taking back with me to Unova!" Gordon said while taking the trophy from Logan.
"As you know, you now have the chance to challenge the Elite Four!" Goodshow said. "Don't worry, you won't immediately jump into those battles! You have some time to rest. The four battles will take place over the course of nine months. You'll have plenty of time to train!"
"And if he wins all four battles?" Gordon wondered.
Goodshow grinned and held up his finger. "Then, you'll battle the Champion of the Indigo Plateau. If you win that, then congratulations, you'll be the new champion of Kanto and Johto."
Logan took in a breath through his nose and blew out from his mouth. A long time ago, it was his dream to become a champion, but simply the thought of standing across the battlefield against one was good enough for him.
"No matter what, you're given a chance to battle every single Elite Four member. Even if you lose three in a row, you'll still have a fourth battle," Goodshow said. "The details are currently a bit fuzzy on who you'll be battling first because we're still waiting for the results of the Silver Conference. We're gonna ask you to stick around Kanto for a couple of weeks while we iron out the details."
"When is his first battle?" Himawari asked.
Goodshow thought for a moment and then held up three fingers. "Three months from now. I think that's enough time to prepare, right?"
Logan nodded.
"Good!" Mr. Goodshow said. "Now, tomorrow night, we'll be having a private party! There will be other competitors and some special guests! I hope to see you all there! You should all shower. Logan, you smell like sweat."
With that, Mr. Goodshow left with his colleagues, leaving the group alone again.
The group waited momentarily for the streets of the Indigo Village to clear before they left the stadium. It was well past midnight, and they were exhausted.
"Son," Gordon said as he suddenly stopped in the middle of the street. "I'm really glad that I was able to be here for this moment. However, this is your moment. Don't forget that. I can't express with words how grateful I am to have shared it with you. I feel bad, but I don't think that I should participate in the party."
"You are flakey," Himawari muttered.
"I'll take this trophy back with me to Unova for you. You won't have to pay for shipping," Gordon said. "Where do you want it to go? Your old room in Driftveil or Nuvema? I won't be mad."
Logan closed his eyes. "Nuvema. I'm sorry, dad."
"I understand. It was the last place you lived before you left on your journey!" Gordon said with a smile. "And hey, I'll get to see your aunt! I'll rub it in her face that I was here and she wasn't!"
Logan smiled. "Well, that's something, I guess."
"I have one more thing!" Gordon exclaimed. "So, I wanted to be the one to gift you Excadrill, but I totally messed that up. I'm glad that he could retire by your side. You did a great job raisin' him!"
"Thanks," Logan said.
Gordon pulled a Premier Ball from his belt. "Instead, I'm gonna make that up to ya by givin' you this. Its name is Melmetal. It's a mythical Pokémon."
Logan's eyes widened as he slowly took the ball. "A-a mythical Pokémon?"
"Yeah!" Gordon said. "Someone of your level can handle it, I think. And this Pokémon is feisty. He'll enjoy the adventures and attention you can give him! Also, your team could make do with more Steel-types!"
"Wow!"
"Enjoy this moment, kid," Gordon said while hugging Logan with one arm. "You earned it. I'll see ya when you come home."
"Thanks so much, dad."
The group all returned to the hotel, and they got their sleep. The next day, Indigo Village was quiet. The festival shops had closed down, and there were no more battles. The only people remaining were those that were invited to the party.
Maleah put her bag over her shoulder. "Alright, Logan. I'm off."
The two had met in the hotel's Pokémon Center. Maleah requested that they met alone.
"I won't wait for you forever," she said with a sly smile. "If you and Yurie don't work out, call me."
Logan's shoulders slumped.
"I'm just joking!"
"Thank goodness. I'm not good at any of this," Logan muttered.
"I got you something. I was gonna give it to you regardless if you won or not. I had my mom overnight me a couple of malasadas. I hope that you like them. They're fattening, and you used to be chunky, so I'm sure that they are your speed," she said while handing over a small paper bag.
"Thank you," Logan said while taking the bag. He did love malasadas, but he didn't like being chunky. He would eat them before Yurie found out though. "Where are you off too next?"
Maleah adjusted her bag and then shrugged. "I think I got one more year of training in me. Maybe I'll head off to Kalos or something. For now, I should get back to Alola though. There's a big battle coming up that I'd like to watch."
She stepped forward and hugged Logan lightly.
"Good luck against the Elite Four. Show the world how much a star we believe you are."
Logan enjoyed the malasadas. He let Nurse Joy check over his Pokémon, and he sent most of them back to Professor Juniper.
"And that's the last batch," Juniper said. "You're not even gonna come home for a bit? We were going to throw a party and everything!"
Logan shrugged. "Sorry, aunt Juni. If I want to win and become champion, I have to take it seriously. The Indigo Conference was hard enough. I'll be going up against some of the best trainers in the world now."
Juniper folded her arms. "Well, congrats. Logan, we're proud of you. Your mom is proud of you. She's been real busy with her job though. You know how she is."
Logan smiled. "I know. I promise that when I become champion, I'll go back to Unova for a bit. We'll party then, okay?"
"Promise?"
"Promise!"
"Okay…"
"Aunt Juni-"
"Yes?"
"Love you. Thank you for everything."
Professor Juniper wanted to cry, but she held it back. She simply smiled and then nodded before hanging up the call.
Logan put his hands on the back of his head and played with his black hat. He looked down at Mightyena and grinned. Mightyena looked back at him with his tongue sticking out.
"So, just Mightyena now?" Yurie asked. She changed into a red dress for the party.
Logan shook his head. "Mightyena, Charizard, and Melmetal. I'm gonna let my other Pokémon rest for a bit. They've earned it."
"Let's party!" Himawari exclaimed. He struck a pose, happy to show off his pure white suit with his yellow necktie.
The party was an odd affair for the teenagers. Everyone was dressed in suits and there was a live orchestra that played for them. Logan wasn't sure what he was expecting, but after a week of loud explosions from Pokémon attacks, he was relieved that the music wasn't too much of a sensory overload.
"Logan," a voice called from behind. Logan had been looking at the different kinds of food, unsure of what to eat. It was all high end and expensive looking.
Logan turned to find Sora. He held a small picture frame in his hands.
"Hey, Sora! Enjoying the party?"
"I accidently drank some wine instead of juice," Sora muttered. "But other than that, I feel fine. I wanted to give you something!" He was in a different mood than his usual relaxed self. Logan couldn't tell if it had something to do with the alcohol or the party atmosphere. He handed over the picture frame to Logan.
It was a picture of when Logan first met Sora when he had to battle against Snorlax. He thought it was odd that Sora took pictures instead of helping at the time. Even moreso, he was confused, because the picture was well shot.
"Last night, Yurie and I went over all of the pictures that I've taken of you. She said this was the best one. I hope that she's not tricking me," he explained. "I picked out the frame. I think it's white, which is my favorite color." He couldn't help but smile at his own joke.
"It's great!" Logan said. "Thank you so much, Sora! I'll keep it forever!" Logan stepped forward and gave his rival a hug. Sora didn't hug back, unsure of how to respond.
The party continued, and the different rivals continued to mingle. Himawari met with some of the gym leaders from Kanto, and he asked them for tips. Haruto was approached by business men who wanted to sponsor him. He seemed uncomfortable with it.
"So, what's your next step?" Logan asked Aaron. He put his arm around his friend's shoulders, and the two bobbed back and forth to the music. "Surely, you won't lose five years in a row?"
Aaron sighed. "Traveling as a fourteen year old is a bit embarrassing don't you think? I should probably start thinking about my career."
"Really?"
Aaron shrugged. "Well, I was thinking of copying you. Maybe I'll go back and help Professor Juniper. I'll keep your aunt company, if you know what I mean."
Logan's eyes shifted. "I don't."
Aaron reached into his inner breast pocket of his jacket and pulled out a black and white bracelet made from dozens of thin strings. "You remember this? We made it in one of our art classes when we were eight."
Logan examined it closely. He had some sort of recollection of it, but he wasn't positive.
"I kept everything from when we were kids. Art class was always one of my favorites. We got to be creative. I was jealous though, because you actually knew how to draw," Aaron said.
Had Logan not become a trainer, he probably would have continued art. When he was younger, his dad let him read superhero comics, and from there, Logan became interested in becoming an illustrator. But, Pokémon was ultimately his calling.
"I want you to have this bracelet. Don't remember where you came from, Logan. Don't forget me, or Mao, or Luna. When you're the top trainer in Kanto, I want you to always remember your roots," Aaron said.
Yurie and Haruto sat at one of the tables, and they watched the crowd as people slow danced.
"You want to ask your boyfriend for a dance?" Haruto asked.
"I don't want to leave you alone!" Yurie said. "You'll be sad."
"I won't be sad."
"I can introduce you to someone!" she exclaimed. She looked around the room, but the only other young trainer around was Seshiru. "You like older women?"
Himawari held up Manectric's Premier Ball. "If you ever need him, give me a call. I focused on making him real strong this last year. Also, he's got some babies running around at the gym."
"Babies?" Logan wondered. "My Manectric is a dad? I'm a grandfather?"
Himawari tucked the ball away on his belt and then gave Logan a confused look. "Not sure if that's how it works."
"Oh."
"I have something for ya, buddy," Himawari said while removing his usual sunflower necklace. "I want you to have this. I've had it all of my life, but I think you'd like it."
Logan took it and held it up, observing the detail on the sunflower petals. He was slightly overwhelmed by all of the gifts that he had been receiving during the day, but he felt that it'd be rude to refuse any of them.
"I heard that there's a vast sunflower field somewhere in the region between Orre and Unova," Himawari said. "It sounds like it'd be one of the most beautiful places in the world."
Logan looked at his friend. It was rare that Himawari ever appeared genuine, but the way that he looked off into the distance and thought about the field brought warmth to Logan's heart.
"Maybe, one day, I'll go check it out," Himawari said. "Eventually, I want that necklace back, okay? I'm giving it to you so then we have to meet again. Promise that we'll meet again."
Logan nodded. "I promise, dude."
"What are you guys talking about?" Seshiru asked as she made her way between the two.
"I was giving Logan a special present!" Himawari said. He smiled down at the short Kanto girl.
"Oh really?" Seshiru wondered. She didn't bother to dress up like the others. Instead, she continued to wear her short sleeved purple shirt and her overalls. She reached into the front pocket and pulled out a fishing bobber. It was designed to look like a miniature version of her. "For when you're fishing! I'd like if you can remember all of the times that we fished together. It was nice to unwind from battles with Neo Rocket and the like. I've never really had another friend that likes to fish."
"Because fishing is boring," Himawari said.
Seshiru glared.
"All of your friends are giving him gifts. Do you have something planned?" Haruto asked.
Yurie sat back and put her hands together. "Maybe. But, I'm not sure if he'll like it."
"I'm sure that anything you give him, he'd appreciate. At least, he should appreciate it. That's his job as your boyfriend," Haruto said. "Not like I'd know much. I've never had a girlfriend."
"You should get on that! I'm beating you! I'm sure that Yui is beating you too!"
"Yui has a boyfriend?!"
"I don't know, but she's cute, so it's possible!"
Once the party started to wind down, and the business people began to leave the trainers alone, the energy from the teenagers changed. The music became lively, and they started to dance. However, there were two trainers who were disinterested in taking to the dance floor.
"I have nothing physical to give you," Haruto said as he sat down next to Logan. "In fact, I think it's ridiculous that everyone is giving you something."
"I'm not asking for any of it," Logan exclaimed. "But it'd be rude to say no."
The two were quiet momentarily.
"Not dancing?" Haruto asked.
Logan shook his head. "My leg hurts from standing all night."
Haruto clicked his tongue and then sat up straight. He looked at Logan's right leg and recalled the stories of what he did in Sootopolis. "I do have some advice that I can give you. You can consider it my gift."
"You don't have to-"
"Yes, I do. Did you know that each flower has some sort of meaning? If you give a flower to someone, especially someone who cares about flower language, it can be a really nice gesture."
"Oh really?"
Haruto nodded and looked at the sunflower necklace that Logan was now wearing. "Yeah. For example, the sunflower. If you give it to someone, it means that you only see them. It's a promise of sorts. It's a promise to not look at other people, essentially."
Logan looked towards the dance floor and at Yurie, who was dancing with Seshiru and Aaron. "I see."
"There are hundreds of other flowers though. If there's ever something that you want to tell someone special, but you aren't good with words, then maybe giving them a flower is a way to go," Haruto explained.
"Thanks, Haruto. It's something to think about."
Haruto pat Logan on his knee and then stood up. "Liven up a bit. Maybe you'd enjoy dancing."
"I don't think I would," Logan muttered.
The music suddenly quieted and Mr. Goodshow got on the stage. He was holding a metal box in his hands. He took the microphone and tapped it to check the sound. "Can I have everyone's attention? I have an announcement to make."
The trainers stopped dancing, and they all looked at Mr. Goodshow.
"Logan, can you come to the stage please?"
Logan nodded and then ran to the stage. He smiled at his friends.
"Logan, once more congratulations!"
The group clapped and cheered.
"Your battle against Mr. Kawahara was one of the most intense finales I've ever seen. I'm thankful that I got to see it live," he said. He held out the box. "In my hands, I hold a gift not only from the Pokémon League but also Silph Co. Please accept it."
Logan bowed and then took the box in his hands. He pushed a button on the box, opening it up. Inside was a purple Poké Ball with an 'M' inscribed on the top half.
"This is the Master Ball, the rarest Poké Ball in the world. It's beyond powerful, Logan, and it can catch any Pokémon without fail," Mr. Goodshow said.
"Without fail?" Logan wondered. Isn't that cheating?
"You'll spend the next year doing intense training and going up against the strongest trainers in Kanto and Johto. You probably won't have the time to train a new Pokémon from when they're young. You can use this Poké Ball to get yourself a strong new team member," Goodshow explained. "Some have even gone on to capture legendary Pokémon, but there's a moral dilemma with that."
Seshiru snorted. "I didn't even need a friggin' Master Ball."
"The Silver Conference in Johto will be wrapped up within a couple of weeks, and we'll know the details of your challenge then. We have your contact information from your Pokédex, so we'll be able to find you," Mr. Goodshow explained. "We'll be wrapping up this party soon, so make sure that you all have your fill!"
The music started to play again, and most of the group, including Haruto, resumed dancing. Logan sat away from them and stared down at the Master Ball. He thought of what kind of Pokémon he could catch with it. He had already been gifted a mythical Pokémon in Melmetal. But, he didn't even consider that he could one day catch a legendary Pokémon. He thought about Neo Rocket and how they captured Mewtwo. Would he be any better than them if he caught a legendary Pokémon?
"What ya thinking about?" Yurie asked. Logan had been too focused on the ball to notice that she stood over him. "Would you like to dance?"
"Music isn't really my thing," he said.
"Okay then," Yurie muttered before sitting down next to him. She looked at the Master Ball and grinned. "What are you gonna catch?"
"I have no idea. It might just be best if I train what Pokémon I have instead of going out and looking for something new," he said.
"Maybe that's not a bad idea," Yurie responded.
The two looked at one another. Yurie blushed upon seeing Logan's blue eyes, and Logan could feel his heartbeat increase.
"I-I have something for you," Yurie said. "I know that you've gotten a lot of gifts today, and nothing I give you could equal a Master Ball, but I have something."
Logan continued to look at her in the eyes. "You don't have to give me anything."
"But, I can't give it to you in front of everyone here. It's kind of embarrassing-"
"Is it a kiss?" Himawari's voice called.
The two trainers turned, finding the entire group standing off to the side. They had been too distracted by each other's eyes to notice.
"It better not be," Haruto said harshly.
"It's not a kiss!" Yurie exclaimed while waving her arms in front of her face. "It's not! It's not!"
"That's disappointing," Aaron muttered.
The party wound down, and everyone returned to the Pokémon Center. They got their sleep, and the next morning, they were up early, all prepared to leave for their next journey.
"Where you off to, Sora?" Logan asked as his rival slipped on his backpack.
"The world is a big place," Sora said. "I'm not sure where I'll go or what's in my future. I think I'll go and print off some of these pictures for my family. It'd be fun to catch up with them."
"I'm sure that they'll be happy to see you," Himawari exclaimed. "And you'll be happy to see-" He paused. "Wait, Sora. Are you blind?!"
Logan laughed and then gave Sora another hug. This time, Sora hugged back, but only lightly.
"Good luck, Logan," Sora said. "If you come through Newbark Town in the next couple of weeks, come and find me. My mom is a great cook."
"Thanks, buddy!"
Sora gathered his bag and then left, waving to the group one last time.
"I guess that means I'm off next. I'm taking a flight back to Unova," Aaron said. He smiled at Logan. "I'm gonna ask Juniper if I can study to be one of her assistants. I'm not sure how well I'll do in Nuvema, but I'd love to do some research for her in one of the cities."
He and Logan shook hands and hugged once more before he was out the doors of the Pokémon Center.
Haruto looked at Logan, Yurie, Seshiru, and Himawari. "I think I'm gonna leave next. I stick out like a sore thumb around you four."
"Where are you off to next? I'll make sure to tell mom when I go back home," Yurie said.
"No need," Haruto exclaimed while waving his hand. "I'm going home for a bit. I don't plan on quitting, because I still have my goals, but I don't think it could hurt to take a short vacation. I'm sure mom would appreciate some help around the shop."
Yurie nodded. "I'll see you after a while then! Stay out of my room!"
Haruto adjusted the straps on his backpack and then glared at Logan. "I'm not interested in training in Unova, but I also think that getting out of the East could be good for me. Maybe I'll head to Galar or Kalos next."
"They have funny accents," Logan said with some of his slight Driftveil twang. "But good luck, Haruto."
Haruto waved and then left, leaving Logan, Yurie, and their two traveling companions in the Pokémon Center lobby.
"We're taking a boat back to Hoenn. It'll leave from Pallet Town," Himawari said.
"We?" Logan wondered, looking at Yurie and then Himawari. Yurie appeared just as confused.
"We," Seshiru said. She held Squirtle tight to her chest. "I've accepted the position with the Battle Frontier. They want me in Hoenn for a meeting. I figured it'd be best if I went with Himawari so he could show me around for awhile."
"Yeah!" Himawari exclaimed. "Logan, can I talk with you?"
"Sure," Logan answered while Himawari dragged him away from the girls.
When they were out of earshot, Himawari wrapped his arm around Logan's shoulders. "So, two things. I wanted to take out early so that I could give you more time with Yurie. I know that she wants to give you a smooch before she leaves to go back home, and she won't do it in front of us. Also, I kind of have a crush on Seshiru, and I could use some advice."
"Advice?" Logan wondered. "Also, what's this about a kiss?"
"Look, I know that I talk a big game, but I actually know zero about girls. Out of all of my friends, you're the only one with a girlfriend, so I figured I'd ask if you have any pointers."
Logan put his hand to his chin and thought momentarily. "I got nothin'."
Seshiru dragged Yurie's arm and pulled her away from the boys.
"Himawari is kind of cute, right?" she asked.
"Huh?" Yurie wondered. She looked back at the blonde boy and sighed. "I guess in a conventional way, but when he talks, it pretty much ruins it."
"I think I have a small crush on him."
"Really?!"
"Shh!" Seshiru yelled while putting her finger to her lips. "Do you have any advice? We're going to be on this boat alone, and I'm not sure if I can handle it. I know that I talk a big game, but I actually know zero about boys. Out of all of my friends, you're the only one with a boyfriend, so I figured I'd ask if you have any pointers."
Yurie sighed. "I don't think I can help you. Maybe let the boat work its magic, and you'll be fine?"
Seshiru pulled back and smiled. She hugged Yurie. Although she was older, she was still shorter.
"I'm gonna miss you so much," Seshiru said. "You're like the little sister I never had."
"Good luck, Seshiru. You'll do great in the Battle Frontier. There's so many Water-type Pokémon in Hoenn!"
The four left Indigo Village. They descended through Victory Road, choosing to set up camps outside of the Pokémon Centers so that they could enjoy the summer sky. Within a couple of days, they arrived in Pallet Town. Himawari and Seshiru bought their tickets for the ferry to Hoenn, and the four waited on the docks.
"Remember to give me back my necklace someday!" Himawari said while letting go of a hug with Logan. "You promised!"
"I'll keep my promise! We got plenty of time to meet again!"
"Good job, buddy," Himawari said. "On everything. You too, Yurie. Next season, no matter where you go, you'll do great!"
"I believe that too," Seshiru added.
"I'll miss you!" Yurie said as she pulled the four into a group hug. "Good luck to both of you!"
The horn from the ferry sounded, telling them that they had to board. Logan and Yurie waved furiously while Himawari and Seshiru got on the boat. Slowly, the boat started to pull away from the docks, and the two watched as it disappeared across the sea.
Logan sighed when the ferry was completely out of sight. "That leaves just you and me."
Yurie nodded. "Where would you like to go first?"
"I've decided to train in Johto," he said. "There's a bullet train from Saffron to Goldenrod City. I have a couple of weeks to get there though."
"Spending a year in Johto?" Yurie wondered out loud. "The food will be wonderful."
He nodded. "You know, you could always do contests in Johto? We could spend another year together."
Yurie looked out at the sea. "I'll go with you to Saffron or you can come with me to Vermillion City, but I made the promise that I'd go to Sinnoh. I said I'd go to Michika's tea shop. I think, I want to travel alone for a while. When we first met, you were so independent and confident, even if you were a little lost. I want to be that way too. Even though it'll create some distance between us, I think it'll be good for me to travel alone."
Logan thought about it. When he first met Yurie, he was twelve, and she had turned ten. Now, she was twelve, the same age he was when he stepped foot in Hoenn. He had so much going through his mind at the time, and his heart was troubled. He went to Hoenn to find himself, and it seemed like Yurie wanted to go to Sinnoh to do some soul searching herself.
"I'll support you, and I'll make sure to write to you every week," Logan said.
"I'll call you when possible. Don't do too much camping," Yurie exclaimed. "We won't be able to call if you don't stay at a Pokémon Center on occasion."
"I will."
"Promise?"
"Promise."
"Then, I have a gift for you," Yurie said.
AUTHOR'S NOTES:
So, this is goodbye to Seshiru, Himawari, Gordon, and the rivals.
Originally, I wanted to end Kickin' It In Kanto on Chapter 81. No real reason. I just didn't want to belabor the point. However, now that most of the characters have said their goodbyes and it's just Logan and Yurie again, I want to do an additional chapter or two.
I've been rereading through Healing in Hoenn for nostalgic reasons, and it gave me the idea to do sort of a flashback chapter. Even from Logan and Yurie's first encounter, I thought they were really cute. It won't be all flashbacks, and most of it will be entirely new dialogue, but I wanted to take one last chapter to go over their history together.
REVIEWS:
pokemonking0924 - "Can't wait to see what Logan does next during and after her challenges the Kanto elite four. Maybe he'll take some time to travel a bit more and catch some new Pokémon, maybe a dynamax alcremie like he always wanted." - I don't want to get anyone's hopes up, but I don't really intend on having Logan do anymore traveling or to have a big story after he challenges the Elite Four. I'll be introducing a new main character in the coming weeks/months who will essentially be replacing Logan as one of the leads for my universe. I want to help normalize having an end for characters in Pokemon fanfic.
The Imprisoned of Hell - "Beautiful chapter. Logan has finally won a conference and completed his journey." - He's got a little bit left in his tank! But only a little bit.
UKEagleClaw - "The right call was 100% made, haha. Loved the 'People were watching worldwide' paragraph. Brilliant/nostalgic/heartwarming to see snippets of their reactions. Had an almost poetic nature to it, especially, especially with how Cyan's sentence read." - I kind of stole that bit from you. Haha, and I'm all about poetry!
wisdom-jewel - "I'm happy that Logan won. But I wonder if he would explore Kanto and Johto when he's having some downtime." - Looks like he'll be heading to Johto! It won't be a full story like Healing in Hoenn or Kickin' It In Kanto, but it'll be something!
CrescentApple - "Good job on the winner, I literally had no idea who was going to win up to until the announcement. It was genius to throw hints that Logan's goals were beyond becoming Champion. That he didn't consider it the most important thing in the world, and he had plans what he would do if he won or not. Even Gordon hinting his son could be Gym leader if he lost." - I think I'm not a great technical writer, perhaps. But when it comes to writing the psychology of a good battle, I think I have it figured out. I guess that's where doing pro wrestling comes into my fanfictions!
