"Is that? Okay why are we exploring next to LAVA!" Chloe screamed.
"Welcome to the real world Chloe. It's crazy." Ash said, clearly unfazed.
"Why are you so calm? That's lava!" Goh shouted.
"And that's a rock. And that's a Drifloon. As long as you're careful you should be fine." Ash said, heading into the cave. "Two paths, no clear difference."
'Ding'
"Until now. Follow me!" Ash said running down the right path.
"Hey wait up!" Goh said grabbing the pokeball holding the Drifloon.
"Ash! Why do we always have to run!"
Ash eventually reached a room, where lava flowed along both walls, heading even further into the cave.
"Are you Maddison?" Ash asked the trainer in front of him.
"You must be Ash, ready to begin?" Madison asked.
"You know it! Two on two sound good?" Ash responded.
"Good to me." Madison said grabbing an Ultra Ball.
"Flareon I choose you!"
"Come on out Pignite!"
"Flareon use Flare Blitz!"
"Pignite use Flame Charge!"
Goh and Chloe caught up to see Ash already in battle. As Pignite struck, Flareon seemed to get even stronger.
"Pignite use Flame Charge again!"
"Flareon use Quick Attack!"
Once again Pignite's attack only strengthened the Flareon rather than damaging it.
"Keep using Flame Charge!"
"Flareon use Iron Tail!"
"Why does Ash keep using Flame Charge. It's doing nothing." Chloe said.
"That's just it, it is doing something. Just not to Flareon." Goh said amazed.
"Now Pignite use Arm Thrust!"
"Flareon dodge it!"
With Pignite's increased speed, it was there and gone before Flareon could even react.
"Now use Body Slam!"
"Flareon use Flare Blitz!"
Pignite and Flareon knocked into each other, before tumbling to the ground.
"Pignite get up and use Arm Thrust!"
"Flareon use Quick Attack!"
Flareon was able to get out of the way in time to avoid Pignite, but the battle was only heating up.
"Pignite use Flame Charge!"
"Flareon use Quick Attack!"
Pignite ran into Flareon, knocking it into a ridge.
"Now use Arm Thrust!"
"Flareon get out of there!"
It was too late, in its dazed state Flareon wasn't able to get out of the way of Pignite's attack in time.
"Lucky shot. Try to take out this one though. Come on out Drapion!" Madison called.
"Pignite use Flamethrower!"
"Drapion use Cross Poison!"
Drapion broke through the flames striking Pignite.
"Pignite use Flame Charge!"
"Drapion use Crunch!"
Pignite hit Drapion, but was clearly poisoned from the last attack. It flinched momentarily, as Drapion went on the offensive.
"Pignite use Flamethrower!"
"Drapion use Cross Poison!"
Once again Drapion charged straight through the flames, knocking out Pignite.
"Good work Pignite. Take a long rest." Ash said. "Now Oshawott I choose you!"
"Drapion use Thunder Fang!"
"Oshawott dodge with Aqua Jet!"
Oshawott zoomed around Drapion, before it could attack.
"Now use Razor Shell!"
"Drapion use Night Slash!"
The Pokémon collided, neither giving in. Until Drapion got the upper hand, knocking Oshawott's schallop down a hole.
"OSHA!" Oshawott screamed out.
Turning around anger and sadness pouring out, Oshawott unleashed its largest Hydro Pump, holding nothing back. Drapion was blasted into a wall, indenting the wal in the process.
'Trainer Ash is victorious.' The Rotom judge declared.
"Come on Oshawott let's go look for your scallop." Ash said.
"Hey, I feel bad about what happened. I know these caves fairly well, I can help lead you around." Madison said.
"That'd be great!" Ash said happily.
The four trainers made their way further down into the caverns, getting to where Madison believed the hole led. The group split up searching for where it might have landed.
"Hey guys! I found it!" Goh shouted, seeing the scallop stuck in something. "Just gotta get it unstu woah!" Goh said as he fell off.
"Heatran!" The Heatran Goh had been climbing on shouted. It clearly didn't like being woken up from someone climbing on it.
"OSHA!" Oshawott shouted standing before the Heatran.
"Oshawott use Hydro Pump!"
Oshawott fired a blast of water at Heatran, only to be met with Heatran's Flamethrower.
"Okay I'm both impressed and scared." Madison said, seeing Oshawott's Hydro Pump pushing back Heatran's attack.
"Shouldn't we help?" Goh asked.
"No, I think Oshawott wouldn't want us to." Chloe said. "Ash has told me about Oshawott's pride. I think this is his fight and his alone. Otherwise at least Pikachu would have joined in."
"Oshawott use Aqua Jet!"
As Oshawott blasted forward, Heatran let out a horrific roar, sending the attack off course. Oshawott flew just over Heatran, before turning back towards Ash. As he landed, he had his scallop back in hand.
"Now Oshawott use Razor Shell!"
Oshawott charged forward unleashing attack after attack at the Heatran. Until Heatran sent it back with a Stone Edge.
"Oshawott use Hydro Pump!"
The Heatran retaliated with a Flamethrower, filling the room up with steam. As the steam cleared, Heatran was gone.
"It just left?" Goh said confused.
"Important thing is we got Oshawott's scallop back." Chloe said.
Back at the original fork
"So that way will take you straight to Undella Town." Madison said.
"I don't know about you guys, but I'm glad to be out of that heat." Chloe said. "I say we spend some time in Undella Town since we're stuck here. White sandy beaches, and crystal clear water."
"Sounds relaxing." Goh commented.
"I guess a bit of R and R couldn't hurt." Ash said.
"You know Ash, if it wasn't for the age, I almost mistook you for the Legendary Savior." Madison said.
"That's what I said! The resemblance is creepy. Not to mention the Pokémon." Goh said.
"Yeah, but Ash would have to be over 500 years old to be that girl." Madison said with a laugh. "Wouldn't that be silly."
"Yeah, silly." Ash said, with a nervous laugh. "Madison thank you for your help today, and if you're ever in Kanto feel free to look us up, for a rematch, or just to visit." Ash said, extending his hand.
"You know it." Madison said, shaking his hand.
