Special AN: Just need to get this off my chest
You saw the title and immediately thought the worse but don't worry, it's not what you think. This story and my other RWBY stories will continue no biggie. Reason I'm writing this is because I have to say this and as stated in the title I really need to get this off my chest. Obviously this is about RWBY and the latest chapter (still haven't seen it yet but saw the reviews and I….Oh boy). First I have to say v8 started good, the usual flaws in the writing but I still like it and eventually it got bad from there all the way to now. I don't care what will happen in the remaining two episodes but I can safely say, I hate it. I hate v8. And I dare to say it has gotten worse than v5 (that's a big achievement for CRWBY).
Let me first say what I was expecting from this volume as a whole. I wanted RWBY and co to aid the Atlas military on the front lines fighting hordes of Grimm. I wanted them to push themselves and go their limit. I honestly thought this volume will be the Infinity War of RWBY, the heroes fighting to defend the universe from Thanos until their very last to their defeat at the snap. At one point the group will face the villains, at least a cool fight with Watts, Cinder and Neo. By the end of the volume Salem shows up, owns everyone, takes the staff, the lamp and Ruby (whatever her reasons are which most likely be turning her to a Grimm). But I was wrong, I was so wrong.
The spirit of the staff turning Penny human WTF?! Fans who use common sense are still asking themselves how the hell was that possible. Ironwood getting owned acting like an idiot after CRWBY butchered his character turning him into a cliché villain. Nothing, it's all shit, the writing is a freaking mess that even the fans like me that criticizes it have dropped the show. However, the volume can still be redeemed with these two last episodes. Unless Salem shows up from out of nowhere, kills a lot of people and beats the crap out of RWBY and the others. Even if that happens I'm still going to give v8 a 3/10 and that's me being kind.
Question is, will that happen? Because so far what I've seen in this volume is Team RWBY winning, over and over again. They're not just winning because they're the heroes, they're always right no matter what. They have made so many mistakes since v7 and they're getting a pass showing them in the right while Ironwood is in the wrong. I thought Salem is the antagonist of the show and yet they kept shoving down our throats the General is the bad guy that has to be stopped. Why? Keep in mind all of this happened because Ruby didn't told Ironwood the truth from the start. The guy gave them the lamp in return and trusted them and in return they kept the truth from him. After how they treated Ozpin for keeping secrets from them this is what they do. Acting like hypocrites.
Let me tell you I am VERY close to dropping RWBY. This last episode put me on the 99.5% rate of dropping it. Because the writers are that bad, I wanted war instead they gave us a lackluster conflict with someone who is not the enemy but forced him to be one. CRWBY is squeezing their tight budget to create this show to be the best but they keep forgetting it's not the looks that makes it great, it's the heart and soul that goes with it. To put it simple, you can make a show with the best in high quality animation but if the writing is shit, the story is shit no excuses. This show and the Star Wars Disney trilogy taught me that.
The Last of Us part 2 is another fine example. The game has amazing graphics, top notch voice acting, great sound effects, a killer soundtrack but the story is shit because the writing is shit (the leaks were true BTW but it was worse than what they showed). That is the main reason the game sucks and why people have returned it. Why you will see people giving copies of the game for free or to this day there are still new copies siting on the shelves of stores or in the back collecting dust. Ignoring all those awards it won because everyone knows it's all BS. It's called damage control. The portals made by Ambrosius (I think that's his name? I could care less if its correct or wrong) I'm not going to bother touching it without bringing predictable writing.
Another thing about the new episode why do you want to bring so many people to Vacuo? If we're following from what Qrow said about the kingdom in WOH (World of Remnant), it's a desert wasteland where it's extremely tough to live in. Even he mentioned their saying that "if you can survive here, you can survive anywhere" yeah I think that was it I might have to check later. So you want to send people to a big desert where survival chances are low, not to mention these people are used to live in the cold weather due to Solitas not a good sign either. Ever thought sending them to Vale? You know ask Mr. Create something that doesn't make sense to open a portal to Vale? They won't do that, it has to be Vacuo because again "plot convenience". Honestly they will be better off in Vale and from what I've heard according to the book" After the Fall" Vale was able to survived the Grimm attack from v3 and it's all good (shocking wow me being very sarcastic).
Can't forget that Cinder is there ready to go to Vacuo with everyone yay!(fucking convenient again). Why is she still alive again? I swear someone in CRWBY must be secretly dating her VA or who knows. Because of all the villains she's the one getting enough screen time and the freaking spotlight, why? She sucks oh wait-we can't forget that she might get redeemed like Emerald. Probably a pat in the back and just like that she's a good guy no matter all the bad things she did in the past. It's all water under the bridge. But I look it on the bright side there are shows way worse than RWBY. Ex-Arm for example and it finally got canceled (along with the manga which it was way better than the crappy anime). And Batwoman worst writing you'll see for a superhero show or any other ever.
Ozpin's cane is another thing that has me annoyed (I didn't added this to my last review). Apparently Ozpin has in stored his magic inside of the cane for many years. Oscar used it to destroyed Salem (we know she'll be back), the whale and the Grimm (not all the Grimm even in the chapter all of them getting destroyed, yet in the next one they're back again? Doubt it's a blooper but CRWBY's screwing up because they think having Grimm will make the situation worse lol whatever). Here's the question I've been asking along with the critic fans. If Ozpin could have done this all along, WHY didn't he do this back in Beacon? Anyone has the answer?. Yeah I figure. Another thing if Ozpin knew how to use the staff why didn't he asked the spirit to lock Salem in an unbreakable prison, or at a Vault? It just doesn't make sense it's like the writers love making these characters stupid for the sake of the plot.
Poor Ironwood retconed to become a villain in the last volume only for him to be taken out in a fifty second fight. The guy should have expected an ambush so why not bring his men and the Ace Ops? No bring only Winter who has already betrayed him. He ordered her to bring Yang, Jaune and Ren and she let them go. So why the hell didn't he shot her along with Marrow? Stupid for the sake of the plot that's what VexedViewer says. He still trusted her and obviously turned against him. Jesus Christ the General of the Atlas Military turned into a complete idiot for the sake that he gets beaten so quick. I'm going to stop because I will only get angrier just by talking about it.
Lastly, I hate how it was all changed in this volume. It was supposed to be about saving Mantle and Atlas from the tyrant Ironwood and suddenly, it became about saving Penny. So basically they chose to sacrifice two cities over one robot. I'm starting to question who are the heroes in this show.
To sum everything I have said in one go. The writing is bad because it has gotten too predictable, everything happens for plot convenience, the good guys always winning, always having it easy. The villains are a complete joke, it feels like the whole war with Salem has been won from the very start. And of course the antagonist of the show (who is supposed to be all powerful) is crap just like the rest of the bad guys.
It breaks my heart to see this show that I love so much turned to shit. It saddens me that instead of hating Ironwood and love Team RWBY its the other way around. I hate RWBY, I hate what they have become basically having their victories handed down to them via plot convenience along with the destruction of their characters. Can you really combine the Team RWBY of v1 to this one and say they're the same? Anyway that's all I have to say for now.
The rest will go on the AN when I give my review of the episodes. Please keep in mind if I do end up dropping the show it won't change anything. I will continue to write this story and others. I will resume to make this story better than canon. Sorry for making this too long. Here's hoping the end of v8 is Infinity War style but somehow I doubt it. CRWBY really wants RWBY to win at all cost. Showing how obsolete the villains and the antagonist are.
PS: CRWBY if you refuse to take criticism from your fans because you hate it, how do you expect to learn from your mistakes and fix your writing to make it better? Ignoring and blocking your critics isn't the answer (twitter BTW). I'm talking to you Eddy Rivas and Neath Oum. For that reason RWBY sucks so much so congratulations in taking Monty Oum's greatest creation and turning it into a big sack of dog shit.
