Hey everyone!

Well it appears that the whole northern hemisphere is freezing and the days are slowly getting longer. I think we can say the long dark of winter is finally beginning to make an exit. Hopefully Spring brings with it happier and brighter times that we will all enjoy. I can safely say that I am writing again which is great. I should just warn that I may be changing my name on here between this update and the next one. So just in case I do I wanted to give a warning.

Stay safe and warm.

Lots of love,
LM xx

Hidden Child-Part 89:

Abraxas had spoken to Lucius and Narcissa as he knew that he could also help Lyra in ways that nobody else could. He waited until it was one of his better days and he got Priscilla to escort him to Hogwarts to see his granddaughter… of course he would ask to see Draco as well… but he was mainly there to see Lyra.

He was made comfortable by the fireplace in Dumbledore's office before Draco and Lyra were sent for at the end of their lessons for the day. Both met up and were confused about what they had been summoned. Neither had done anything wrong so they were rather confused… until they walked into the office and saw their grandfather in a chair and Lyra ran over to him, falling down onto her knees and her head resting on his lap.

"What are you doing here Grandfather?" Lyra asked as she looked up at him as Draco had sat down in the other chair.

"I came to see you both but I can also help Lyra with the challenge she is facing with Bellatrix. And today is one of my good days so I thought that I'd come and see you both as I am unable to get away from the cottage a lot these days," Abraxas said, causing Lyra to sniffle as she rested her head on his lap once more and the aged wizard sighed before he stroked his granddaughter's golden locks. He hated that he was dying and he wished he could have helped Lyra more but he couldn't so this was the best he could do.

"Forgive me Grandfather but how can you help Lyra? Surely there is no other help to give her…?" Draco finally asked causing Lyra to lift her head up and she looked at him, rubbing her eyes, trying to hide the tears that were threatening to fall.

"I know spells that Bellatrix doesn't because I created them," Abraxas said, "nobody else knows how to cast them except me and your Grandmother and she's never had to use them but they are useful to know, especially if your opponent doesn't know them my girl," he said as he cupped Lyra's cheek and looked at her, "I want Draco to learn them so he can help you train because there is no way that I will be allowed to in my condition," he said and Draco looked at his grandfather and nodded.

"I'm guessing I will also be the intended target as Lyra learns them from you at first…" he said as he bit his lip.

"Of course you are Draco," Abraxas said, "and that lip biting is clearly something you both picked up off your mother," he said with a chuckle as he looked at her, "one that I wish you hadn't but that's ok. You are Blacks as well as Malfoys," he said before looking at the Headmaster, who appeared with drinks, "I trust that this room has shields and charms on it…"

"You are correct Abraxas. I am assuming that you wish to use my office to teach Lyra these spells…" Dumbledore said and Abraxas nodded, "very well. I shall retreat to another area of the Castle and leave you three to your work," he said softly before making a swift exit.

Abraxas passed Lyra a pen, not a quill, and he began to show her the wand movements as he explained what the spells did. As expected Lyra was worried about hurting Draco when she began to cast the spells but Abraxas reassured her that the spells would not hurt Draco because they could sense if the person was good or evil upon casting. So the good people wouldn't get hurt but the bad ones would.

Lyra had been about to ask how it knew but that was probably something that she had to discover and feel for herself as she looked at her Grandfather, Ebony wood now in hand as Abraxas was sure she knew some of the easier spells and hexes now.

"Remember what I told you," Abraxas said softly as he looked at her and she nodded trying to feel the connection with her wand again. It was a long time coming, partly because she knew everyone was waiting for her to feel the connection.

Eventually she began to feel it and she looked up at Draco and did the first wand movement and it gave off a minor effect on Draco so she could see what it did but Draco wasn't hurt.

"How does it know who is good and who is evil?" she asked finally as she couldn't stand not knowing any more.

"Those that mean to do harm will have their wand pointing at you. Your wand knows exactly who means to harm you and who doesn't," Abraxas explained, "Draco didn't have his wand pointing directly at you but, as time goes on, he will have to point his wand directly at you so you can see what the spells do to people that do mean to harm you," he said as he looked at her and smiled softly, "this next time Draco will point his wand a you," he said seeing the horror on Lyra's face, "trust in your wand," he said softly as he rested his hand on her arm and she nodded biting her lip as always.

She walked over to her position on the floor and stood opposite Draco and pointed her wand at him. Draco was nervous but he had to trust in Lyra and her wand. He knew the connection… Merlin everyone close to the family, except Bellatrix, knew about the connection between Lyra and her wand.

"3, 2, 1… duel!" Abraxas said and he watched as his grandchildren began to duel. He knew that the next step for Lyra was actually casting the spell in a duel situation and he sat back, waiting for Lyra to cast it.

Lyra waited until Draco was off his guard and then she launched the new spell at Draco sending him backwards against a springy piece of wall that Abraxas had no doubt made that way.

"That will send an enemy far away from you allowing you time to recover but with Draco it didn't send him back too far because your wand could see that Draco wasn't a threat," Abraxas explained before calling time on the duel and then allowing the two a break, feeling that Lyra was learning things quickly… new things anyway at least. He couldn't wait to go back to Malfoy Manor and inform everyone about what happened at the Castle.
