Professor Cerise looked at his watch, 2am. He had to stop drinking coffee so late in the day. Making his way through the lab, he saw a light on in the main area.
"Who's in there?" Professor Cerise said holding a broom, partially for attacking, partially for protection.
Opening the door, he saw Ash asleep in front of a computer.
"What are you looking into at this hour?" Professor Cerise asked.
There were a few windows open on the screen, an energy reading over Alola, an old Lumiose Gazette report, and a missing persons report!
"So that's Serena? No wonder you're looking for her." Professor Cerise said with a smile. "I hope he finds you soon, you're clearly important to Ash." Professor Cerise said to the photo.
He gently placed a blanket over Ash, before turning off the lights and leaving the lab.
The next morning
"Morning Ash." Chrysa said with a laugh.
"Huzzat whozzere?!" Ash mumbled waking up.
"Fell asleep working, I've been there, I had the left half of my keyboard marked on my face for a week once." Ren said with a laugh.
"That was last week." Chrysa said, poking his face. "Everything okay Ash?"
"Yeah, just lost track of time, I guess I should go and get ready." Ash said, heading towards his room.
"No rush, Chloe had school today so it's just you and Goh." Professor Cerise said walking in.
"Aren't you going to say something to him?" Chrysa asked.
"What is there to say, I don't know for sure what he was researching last night, I only know what I saw." Professor Cerise said. "Besides he's hardly the first person to look up someone on one of these computers."
"Fine, I won't bring it up, and it was one time." Chrysa said.
"That I know of, and that's the same with Ash. I won't intervene unless I see it becoming a problem." Professor Cerise said calmly.
Ash stepped out of his washroom to see a message from Goh.
'Free day today, wanna see if we can find something at the abandoned Power Plant?'
'Sure, give me a few and we'll get going.' Ash replied.
"Ash, how is it Charizard Can keep up with Golurk?" Goh asked. "I mean mine is literally rocket powered."
"No idea, just experience I guess." Ash said. "I'm guessing you are going to try and catch the remaining electric types today?"
"I think I stand a chance at it." Goh said happily.
"Good luck with that, electric types get nasty if they become overcharged." Ash said thinking back to the times it happened with Pikachu.
"Yeah, but what are the chances of that happening." Goh said.
5 minutes after entering the Power Plant
Goh came running out of the doors screaming, before falling to the ground.
"I thought you were behind me!" Goh screamed.
"I was, I thought you saw the crazy Electabuzz too." Ash said. "I even heard it when we entered."
"Okay, just have to think. It's electric types in there, so a ground type would be useful. Golurk is to big, but maybe this one. Come on out Ryhorn! Okay let's try this again." Goh said marching back in.
10 minutes later
"You left me again!" Goh shouted.
"No, this time I didn't even bother going in. There's a difference." Ash said.
"How am I supposed to deal with so many electric types at once?" Goh asked.
"There's your problem. These Pokémon have made this place their home and you're trying to fight all of them. Of course they're going to fight back." Ash said. "Watch and learn."
Ash carefully made his way around the electric types, ducking around a corner whenever he heard that crazy Electabuzz coming.
"First objective, catch that Electabuzz." Ash whispered.
The barrels they were hiding behind were knocked away as the Electabuzz cried out in rage.
"Pokeball go!" Goh shouted.
After a second of shaking, the Electabuzz broke free, now angrier than ever.
"Really didn't think that one through did you." Ash said.
"Nope." Goh said, before the two took off running.
"Marshtomp use Dynamic Punch!" Ash called.
Marshtomp leapt up, pushing Electabuzz back on impact.
"Now use Mud Bomb!"
Marshtomp hit the Electabuzz while it was down.
"Goh! Do I have to fight this thing on my own!" Ash yelled.
"You said we weren't going to fight them!" Goh complained.
"Yes, just not all at once!" Ash said angrily.
"Pokeball go!" Goh shouted, throwing another pokeball.
This time the pokeball captured the Electabuzz.
A while later
"Ash, I'm sorry!" Goh said chasing after Ash.
"I'm not angry." Ash said.
"I can tell you are, I'm sorry for not fighting with you." Goh said.
"I'm not angry, just annoyed. I do all the work, and you get all the credit. I don't mind helping, but throwing a pokeball to catch them doesn't help." Ash said.
"Let me make it up to you, I'll buy lunch." Goh apologized.
At lunch
"Will you at least talk to me, I said I was sorry." Goh whined.
"I can't always be there to help you out. You've gotten reckless lately. First Iron Island and now earlier today, what happened to the level headed Goh I met on Lugia." Ash said.
"To be fair that wasn't much of a level headed decision back then, but what happened is you. You go into things just like how I did, but it works out for you, with or without a plan." Goh said.
"It works out for me because I can usually fight my way out of things. You don't have the same battle experience I do." Ash said.
"Then help me! How can we be a team if we don't communicate." Goh said.
"Sorry for intruding." A woman's voice said. "We couldn't help but notice your little spat."
"We believe we have a way to help you through your differences." A man said. "A couples battle against us."
"What do you say Ash?" Goh asked.
"I guess it couldn't hurt." Ash responded.
"Wonderful!" The woman said overjoyed. "By the way, I'm Julia, and this is Roman."
"It's a pleasure." Roman said.
A ways off at a battle field.
"Alright Nidoking you're up!" Roman called out.
"Nidoqueen, come and join your king!" Julia said.
"Let's go Cinderace!" Goh shouted.
"Come on out Gigalith!" Ash said.
"Nidoking use MegaHorn!"
"Nidoqueen use Helping Hand!"
"Cinderace use Pyro Ball!"
"Gigalith use Flash Cannon!"
Nidoqueen threw Nidoking forward, intensifying the speed of his attack. Cinderace shot a Pyro Ball at Nidoking, only for it to be hit by Gigalith's Flash Cannon. Nidoking then slamming into Cinderace.
"Hey you messed up my attack!" Goh yelled.
"Cinderace is fast, go for the one further away next time!" Ash shouted.
"Ah, young love. Remember when we were like that?" Julia asked softly.
"Like it was yesterday." Roman responded. "Now how about we show them a true attack?"
"I love it!" Julia responded.
"Nidoking!"
"Nidoqueen!"
"Sludge Bomb of Love!" The two commanded.
"Gigalith use Wide Guard!"
Just before it hit Cinderace, a shield stopped the Sludge Bomb attack completely.
"Okay, I'll go long." Goh said agreeing with Ash.
"And I'll attack from the front." Ash replied.
"Cinderace use Bounce!"
"Gigalith use Stone Edge!
"Nidoking use Mega Kick!
"Nidoqueen use Mega Punch!"
Cinderace jumped off the back of Gigalirh into the air. Gigalith took both the attack, before launching his opponents into the air with Stone Edge.
"Now Cinderace use Blaze Kick!"
Once Nidoqueen was in front of him, Cinderace pounced, forcing them to the ground.
"Now Gigalith use Flash Cannon!"
The Nidoking, still prone and falling, was hit by the attack. Giving Ash and Goh a mostly clean win.
"Now that you two can work as a team together, you can make up." Julia said eagerly.
"Look, I'm sorry I've been rushing in lately. I'm just trying to do my best." Goh said.
"Your best is when you think things through. My best is the rushing, and I'll try and remember that next time." Ash said, before embracing Goh in a hug.
"And now you seal the deal with a kiss." Roman said, before doing just so to Julia.
"Oh, umm no we aren't…". Ash was stuttering, before being interrupted.
Goh had given him a quick kiss on the lips!
"Well you two make a lovely couple, I'm sure this won't be the last we'll see you two." Julia said expectantly.
Goh knew he went too far, he just had to try though. The flight home was silent, and Ash went straight to his room.
