Johto Chapter 14: Miltank girl Nyx
Two days passed since Nyx witnessed Whitney's victory over Xenia and she was at the Pokemon Center, tying her shoes before getting up and doing some stretches ''today, I will get another badge!" she claimed fired up. She then got down where Marina was having her breakfast and then turned her head as she noticed her cousin coming down.
"Good morning, ready for the match?" she asked, with Nyx doing thumbs up with a grin.
"I have everything planned out!" she claimed fired up. After a while, both girls arrived at the gym and to their surprise, they saw the Whitney Fun Club immersed in a rather hot blooded activity.
"WHO IS THE CUTEST GYM LEADER IN THE WORLD?" asked the club's leader while roaring fired up.
"WHITNEY TAN!" answered the fans
"WHO WILL EASILY CRUSH ANOTHER CHALLENGER TODAY WHILE BEING CUTE?" asked the leader again while crying.
"WHITNEY TAN!" they answered again while crying too, making the girls and Whitney who was in her corner awkward.
"Um, I appreciate your enthusiasm and support, but the challenger has come" said Whitney, freezing them in place and they then went swiftly to their seats while the leader went to his spot as referee. Whitney looked at Nyx who was on her spot and gave a fired up look "I wanted to see how good the one that gave such a beating to my fun club really is" she explained in anticipation, with Nyx smiling,
"You will see" replied Nyx also fired up and the referee then talked.
"This battle is between Gym Leader Whitney of Goldenrod and challenger Nyx of Pallet Town. Both trainers will use three pokemon, but only the challenger may change during the battle, begin!"
"Alright, come one out, my sweet clefairy" said Whitney as her clefairy came out "clefairy".
"I knew you would begin with clefairy so, come on out tauros!" said Nyx as she brought out her tauros "moo".
"She brought him back?" wondered a surprised Marina.
"Oh my, what a tough looking guy" said an excited Whitney as she rushed towards him and petting him at various spots, making him feel nervous. Whitney then suddenly stopped and rushed towards her corner "ekhem, that was too much, anyway, minimize to meteor mash!" she ordered after regaining her calm self "fairy".
Clefairy then shrunk and disappeared from sight, much to drapion's confusion while looking around alerted, only for Nyx to smile "I came prepared for that, sludge bomb on the whole arena" she ordered fired up "grah". Drapion then began filling the arena with poison, with clefairy manifesting while visibly hit slightly by the move "catch it and use cross poison" she ordered, with drapion catching clefairy and executing the move, throwing her later down fainted.
"No, clefairy!" shouted a concerned Whitney as clefairy was on the ground with twitching hands and feet and she rushed to its side "you did your best" she said as she returned her to her pokeball.
"Clefairy is unable to battle, tauros wins!" announced the referee.
"Good job tauros!" said Nyx, congratulating a proud tauros, with Whitney smiling fired up.
"That was unexpectedly fast, but, let me show you my second strongest cutie, come out lopunny!" said Whitney as a bipedal, rabbit like pokemon with dark brown fur an cream fur on its ears, hands and feet coming out of its pokeball spinning and then doing some rapid kicks on the air and punching with its ears.
"Lopunny, the Rabbit Pokemon. It is very conscious of its looks and never fails to groom its ears. It runs with sprightly 's notably wary and has a dislike of fighting, but at the same time, it can deliver powerful kicks with its lithe legs" "seems tough" commented Nyx while talking to herself "let's play safe, use sludge bomb drapion !" she ordered.
"Grag" drapion then used the move on lopunny who was gracefully avoiding it.
"Use double team while jumping via bounce" she ordered, with lopunny doing that and all the clones were about to kick tauros in a descending manner.
"Intercept with cross poison" ordered an alerted Nyx, with drapion doing the move but lopunny managed to hit drapion's belly before his move could connect.
"Finish it with high jump kick!" ordered Whitney and lopunny then was about to hit drapion with her right foot clad in white, but he barely avoided it by side stepping, causing lopunny pain and before he could catch her with his extended tail, she used the move by reverse kicking with her left foot on the belly, sending him flying back fainted "yes!" shouted a happy Whitney.
"Drapion is unable to battle, lopunny wins!" announced the referee with a hidden happiness, with lopunny then returning to her corner and Nyx returning him to his pokeball.
"That pokemon has great agility" commented Marina while talking to herself "Nyx must choose carefully her next one or else, she will lose".
"You were great drapion, take a good rest" she whispered gently "that's a pokemon with nasty moves" she commented in appreciation, with Whitney keeping a fired up smile "however, I have someone suitable for her, come out murkrow" she said as she brought out murkrow who placed his twig on his peck.
"Alright lopunny, double team and bounce" ordered Whitney, with lopunny then descending with her clones at murkrow who was standing in place.
"Use haze" ordered Nyx "crow" growled murkrow as he created a cloud of smoke that threw the landing lopunny off balance "now, wing attack on her legs" she ordered and murkrow showed himself, attacking lopunny's legs before it could react and then barraged it with numerous attacks, but lopunny managed after some hits to hit him twice with her ears, throwing him out of the smoke that cleared up, with both pokemon being near their limits.
"Wing attack, high jump kick!" shouted the both of them at the same time, with both pokemon lunging on each other, but lopunny managed to hit murkrow before he could hit it, with him falling down.
"Murkrow is unable to battle, lopunny-" wanted the referee to announce, but lopunny too fell down to Whitney's shock "it's a tie" he announced, with both trainers recalling their pokemon.
"That was unexpected, but still, this battle is exciting!" said a squealing Whitney while having now a pokeball in her hand "but you know what is coming now, don't you?" she asked a silent Nyx "come out miltank!" she shouted as miltank came out excited.
"Indeed, this battle is exciting" replied Nyx while smiling fired up, holding a pokeball in her hand "but I knew what was coming and I'm totally prepared for it, come out serperior!" she ended up shouting, with serperior coming out battle ready.
Both pokemon were looking at each other "rollout" suddenly ordered Whitney, with miltank beginning to roll towards serperior that was staying in place, with Nyx then giving a fired up smile.
"Time for test number one, use aqua tail" she ordered and serperior executed the move from a distance, with the water swirl stopping miltank in place even though serperior seemed to struggle.
"That was a nice thought" commented Whitney "but, miltank can't be stopped by something like this, go miltank" she said and miltank pushed forward, pushing through aqua tail and hitting serperior.
"Oh no, serperior!" shouted Nyx as serperior was barraged by rollout and each strike was getting stronger. "Use aqua tail to throw yourself up" she ordered. "Ser" serperior then used aqua tail on the ground, freeing herself from miltank's barrage, with miltank then returning to her corner.
"Nice idea, to be honest, when Milky usually catches a pokemon in her continuous rollouts, it's usually the end of them" explained Whitney genuinely impressed, with Nyx smiling.
"Serperior isn't like your usual pokemon, use solar beam" she ordered, with serperior charging the move.
"Sorry Nyx, but we aren't so merciful to just let you unleash a move, rollout" she ordered and miltank was coming at serperior in zigzag, with her unleashing a missing solar beam and miltank almost coming at her.
"Quick, use aqua tail to jump and charge another solar beam" ordered an alerted Nyx, only for serperior to be sent flying by a rollout but she then unleashed solar beam at miltank, with the explosion pushing her back but without damage as the rollout protected it and it later undone it. Serperior then landed, with her having some bruises and breathing heavily from exhaustion "serperior won't hold for long, I must finish this quickly, use quick solar beams around" she ordered, with serperior then gathering light for some seconds and firing around, creating some holes much to Whitney's confusion.
"Huh? You said you came prepared for miltank, but, is filling the arena with holes in order to trap it what you managed to come up with?" she asked surprised a silent Nyx "you would need a much deeper hole to manage that and even if you did it now, serperior is visibly exhausted, go win miltank!" Whitney ended up shouting as miltank began rolling.
"Serperior, it's time, use one more solar beam on miltank head on!" said Nyx pleading, "ser...Perior!" shouted as she fired one final solar beam after a while, with miltank trying to overpower it and an explosion happened. When the smoke cleared though, serperior was nowhere to be seen, with miltank looking around confused.
"It disappeared, how?" wondered Whitney who then froze in shock to Nyx's grin "quick miltank, get-" she tried to say, but miltank was grabbed by vine whip and by energy tendrils "don't tell me, a combination of vine whip and giga drain from beneath!?" she wondered as she then saw an open hole made from the last solar beam.
"Your miltank is truly powerful, so much in fact that even my partner serperior can't possibly do anything with her speed, but what would happen if we didn't face it head on and do something sneaky like this?" explained a pleased Nyx.
"Now that's a crazy strategy, truly a family thing" commented Marina while shaking her head and shrugging her shoulders all while the other spectators were shocked.
"Use rollout to free yourself or even drag her out miltank" ordered Whitney panicked and miltank was about to execute the order.
"We have this covered too, use aqua tail to throw it off-balance!" ordered Nyx and serperior did an upward aqua tail, with the vortex barraging and trapping miltank "finish it" she ordered "ser…perior!" serperior then lunged from the ground and struck miltank on the face with aqua tail, sending it crushing on the ground fainted.
"Yes!' shouted both cousins excited.
"M-Miltank is unable to battle, serperior wins, therefore the winner is Nyx from Pallet Town!" announced the fan club leader in disbelief, with him and the club members crying for whitney who kneeled over miltank and helped her stand up "you were amazing miltank" she said while crying in a mix of sadness and pride.
"This was a close battle" said Nyx who approached her.
"Yes, it was a reckless strategy though, using continuous solar beams to create escape routes to have serperior burrow underground and strike from a blind spot" commented Whitney amazed, with Nyx scratching her cheek and then, Whitney brought out a case from which she got a yellow, diamond shaped badge which she presented to Nyx.
"This is the Plain Badge, you have earned it fair and square" she said while crying from sadness and emotion along with her fans, with an awkward Nyx then taking it and raising her hand high.
"Alright, we got the Plain Badge!" she roared in excitement along with serperior. It was afternoon and both girls were at their room at the pokemon center, with them already wearing their pajamas "so, will you challenge her too, Marina?" asked Nyx while sitting down on her bed, asking Marina who was finishing her stretching.
"Heh, I may do so tomorrow, who knows?" she said uncertain and looked at the ceiling "to be honest, gym matches hold me down" she said skeptical, making Nyx curious. "You see, while my pokemon have become stronger thanks to them, I realized that I must focus more on a more contest like training" she ended up saying while looking at Nyx who then smiled.
"If that's what you desire, then follow that path to its end" she said in a warm voice.
