I don't own Hetalia okay? I know it has taken me longer to update this than it's predecessor The Longing of the Heart but hey I will get it done and I am having 3 families interact over a decade! Cut me some slack! Anyway, enough of this A/N, on with the fic!

(from the journal of Katyusha Williams nee Braginsky)

I had settled for just sending a telegram. I couldn't take it much anymore. Not hearing from Al or Natalya is just driving me insane. I want to tell her about how the children are growing so much. Louise is such the little darling and Chadwick is so active, I can hardly keep up with him. I missed my niece and nephews. I miss my sister, I even miss Fredka. He was Vanya's best friend and seeing him always reminded me of Vanya and I knew that there was always some hope. He just gave that sort of personality. I had also written a few days ago but I didn't know if it got lost. Eliza brings over Maria a lot, and she is so tiny and hair so brown. All of Natalya and mine's children are varying shades of blonde but Maria's hair isn't much but I can tell will be as dark as her daddy's but as lovely as her mother's. I wish I could do more with Louise's hair myself but her hair is as wavy as Matvey's is and it's all I can do to keep it from getting tangled in itself.

I have been working hard trying to get Matvey the job at Yosemite as he needs something much less stressful than it is now and he hardly sees the children since that raid and since that one wimpy Italian had told everything he knew. Since Natalya took care of the one fool who tried to attack her while Fredka was gone, no one has tried to do anything more. Either they learned their lesson or that Romulus guy lost his influence going to jail. So far he has not been released and his trial was all over the newspapers. Not like it has done anything to discourage the gangs, it has only made them tougher and some of the officers that Matvey is working for have had him go undercover to try and get some information. It's running the poor man down. He's actually started having flashbacks again to the war. And what sickens me is he told me one of his bosses said it would help him as they wanted a former soldier as they have respect in the circles. I asked why they couldn't get Feliciano back in, Matvey told me he would likely be killed because he had told so much.

So by following Natalya's example I had went around and speaking with Mr. Seward, yes Vanya's old boss, the one who Fredka had gotten him to get Roderich his job and see what play he had to get Matvey a job as a ranger. Apparently he was a friend of the Roosevelt family and a prominent member of the Audubon Society. I had spoken with him and he is pulling strings to get him a good job there. It's nothing too risky like Natalya had to get with Eliza for Fredka's merits. I see how frustrated she was when Fredka was down at his job. I won't let my Matvey miss out on his children.

So how was that? Good? Bad? Short? Long? Let me know in a review. I finally got my prohibition era story started called In Too Deep nothing planned romance wise, this one is more of a drama. And yes, this one will have more chapters than its predecessor. I do hope to get it wrapped up by summer but hey, who knows how life is going to go at this point. I do have the hardest class of my semester out of the way so school stress is reduced. Anyway, remember to read (well you just did) and to review. Ciao for now,
