World: Sonic and Amy have grown up a lot. (Future-ish?)

Summary: You always do prmpts with sonic giving amy mixed signals. Sooo…one of these days, I want to see you do the challenge of them being WAY older and her tired of waiting to where she literally calmly just confronts him for a yes or no on her feelings before giving up on him completely.
Clarity: I'm interrupting this as Amy ask Sonic directly if he loves her or not, in which Sonic responds. I'm pretty sure you're asking for a 'Ultimatum' which I'm more than HAPPY to oblige… but I will state that this may be slightly out of character than. For Sonic to accept an ultimatum deal isn't his style… neither being direct, but I will do my best! ;D
Prompt:
"It's been three years since you hunted down Eggman and put an end to his last plan… The day he finally accepted his age… and admitted you bested him on all fronts…. but now… Now-!"
Amy spun around, her quills slightly longer, and swayed back with her quick moment.
She held her hands up to her heart, in tight fists, her eyes showing a conviction but also conflict happening within her.
"Please… I need to know…"
Sonic looked down, his eyes hidden in shadow.
So this is why she phoned Tails that it was an 'emergency.' She had to get him out here and this was the only way to get him alone nowadays…
"I've waited 23 years for an answer! I've waited and thought I'd grow old waiting for you!" she looked down, shaking her head as she tried to shoo away the tears that wouldn't be absent from this moment.
"Does that mean nothing to you!? That I would literally wait a thousand years or more for a simple answer!? There were nights I would dream and wake up wondering why that wasn't a reality, There were days I would daydream and wonder why I had to see you only in my head and not in my life… There were afternoons I would stare at both the moon and sun and wonder if our fates were the same! To have moments where we crossed one another,… only to have an infinity before we were ever together again… Do you know what's that's like..? Being alone.."
"…"
"Say something!"
"…" he clenched his teeth.
"Anything!"
"…"
She stepped back, slightly gasping at his struggled silence.
"Don't… don't you want to say anything?" she also lowered her head, realizing there was no way she could 'play nice' anymore with him.
If she wanted a future, any at all! She'd have to force it out of him…
Her heart sank, she knew this was wrong to ask someone so free to surrender so suddenly… but it wasn't that suddenly…
He had a lifetime to think it over.
"Sonic… Just tell me…" her eyes were now in shadows.
His fists twitched to his sides.
A trail of sweat slowly lingered before falling on the side of his face.
"..Do you love me?"
the air was silent and still.
He took a deep breath, before moving his head slightly more up.
"..Is there someone else?"
"No." she stated immediately, dropping a hand from her chest, disappointed he dodged her yet again on this subject. "There never has been… and I'm kinda scared there may never be."
…More wind passed the two.
"….Are you willing to accept what I will say?"
"…" This one she hesitated on. "..Yes…" it was faint, but it was an answer.
"You're so cruel, Sonic… making me answer… Instead of you."
"You're willing to move on?"
"DO I HAVE TOO!?" she leaned forward abruptly, her eyes shook, the tension in her face tightening each muscle in her face.
"Sonic… please.. All I'm asking for is an answer… Do you love me?" saying it twice made her voice crack, the heaviness of despair and loneliness settling in her throat.
"…Ei." He flinched, and then sped up to her, putting an arm around her. "No."
She froze.
"..No..? As in… you'll never…" her body shook.
He smiled for a second, and then moved his head to the side, closer for her to hear. "No… I mean, you don't have to wait anymore,… or move on."
Her eyes widened, "Ah!"
"I don't think I'd ever forgive myself.." he smiled more now, whispering to her over the wind… "If I let my first love pass me by."
In tears and loud crying of complete joy and relief, Amy wrapped her arms around him, and cried and cried the whole rest of the day.
He would chuckle nervously at first, before realizing that this was her last hope, and she had betted everything on this moment.
He never let go of her the rest of her days…
