My little baby sister Natalya,
It was go good to finally hear from you. I was just oh so worried. I love hearing that my precious niece and nephews are adjusting well to their new school and a new place of living. I do hope they don't have skin like you do and more like Fredka's. He tans so much when summer comes in and you have as fair skin as Vanya did. Matvey told me what Fredka said about little, well from the picture you sent not so little Nikolai, he loves swimming and the beach and has a thirst for dangerous things. Surfing. I swear, I saw the pictures that Fredka sent Matvey and it's crazy. I would hope that Nikolai has become that good a swimmer if he wants to try and get into that. I know you were so proud of his piano skills. Did Fredka get a piano? Would be a shame to have the kids lose the skills they picked up. I do remember Roderich asking that as he was actually proud of him. And he's not one to be proud of a student lightly.
We may be able to head out to California as well if my plans go through. I took a page out of your book as it is said. Matvey has been working longer and longer shifts since the Vargas family was arrested and Feliciano told the police and federal agents everything he knew. So they keep using Matvey. It's a shame really. He has missed Chadwick and mine's birthdays and I know he never did mean it but it's still quite disheartening. I know he has had about enough of it all. So I have begged Mr. Seward to do the family one last favor. He knows some of the National Park officials and I asked and begged for him to talk his friends into making Matvey a park ranger at Yosemite out in California. I know it is Northern California as to Southern California where you and Fredka are, but it is much closer than the whole width of the North American continent. He just gave me one condition I have not really told him. Once Matvey gets the job, we sell the house to him for his investment purposes. Should I be ashamed of that detail? This was Vanya's house that he left to me. I can see how easy that Fredka and you were when selling your house as he had bought it himself. And he loves helping people out when 'the system' as he says makes things hard, thus the sale to Eliza and Roderich, but this, is different. Oh if he were still with us, I don't know. You are right, I am sure he would have loved to see the Pacific. There are times that the weather here in New York is as bad as it was back in Russia and he always dreamed of sunflowers and warmth.
You had asked how Eliza and Roderich are doing and they are doing well. I am sure you are in contact as that is part of your agreement to buy the house was it not? Or was the savings and bounty Eliza received as part of the raid more than enough? I am not sure. But their little Maria is growing up fast. I swear she looks so much like her mother with her father's dark brown hair. I wish dearly I could actually see you again and if all goes well, I will be able to. I have included some of my jam as the garden did well this year, and a few photos of the children. Louise is begging me to tell you that she misses Anya dearly. Pray my dearest sister and maybe, just maybe my plan will work as well as yours. I am surprised that Matvey hasn't caught on. Louise tells him so many things and Chadwick repeats everything I say, but they have kept Mommy's little secret.
