"And the world coronation series Champion is Ash Ketchum of Pallet Town!" The announcer declared.
All around him, Ash could hear his friends and family chanting his name.
"Ash! Ash! Ash! Ash!"
"Yeah! I'm the champion!" Ash said.
"Ash. Ash. Ash! ASH!" Chloe shouted, shaking him awake.
"Wait what happened to the stadium? The championship!" Ash said bolting up.
"Ash, you fell asleep. We made it to our destination." Chloe said plainly.
Goldenrod City, home to the bustling markets of Johto. As well as their newest research almost. The group had come here for Goh to be on Professor Oak's talk show. Ash had opted out, despite being there, this was Goh's dream. The lab staff and Goh's family were all brought out here for the discovery.
"Alright everyone, we have the interview in an hour, and dinner at 7. Meet back at the center at 6, and Ash this is a formal dinner." Professor Cerise plainly said.
"Bye Goh, have fun." Chloe said, grabbing Ash by the arm and dragging him off. "Chrysa come on I'll need your help with this."
Outside a mall
"Okay so what are we doing here?" Ash asked.
"First, I need your phone." Chloe said extending her hand.
"Okay, here I guess." Ash said handing over his phone.
"And your Pokémon." Chrysa said holding out a bag.
"What why my Pokémon!" Ash exclaimed.
"Less distractions from what we need to do." Chloe said. "Now every Pokémon you have with you except Pikachu goes in the bag."
"Fine, here you go." Ash said, dropping some Pokeballs into his bag.
"Thank you Ash." Chrysa said with a smile.
"Hold on. Let me see your bag." Chloe said plainly.
"Fine!" Ash said digging around pulling out another Pokeball, and placing it in Chrysa's bag. "Are you happy now?"
"Chrysa are there five Pokémon in there?" Chloe asked.
"I see three pokeballs, a lure ball, and a Fast Ball. That's five Pokémon." Chrysa said.
"So yes now I am happy. Now follow us." Chloe said walking into the building.
A bit later
"Seriously all that for me to try on dresses!" Ash exclaimed.
"You heard my dad, it's a formal dinner." Chloe argued.
"Can I wear a shirt and tie or something like that?" Ash bargained.
"We don't have time to find something like that, that you'd be comfortable in, and at this point it would look odd on you, so these are our options." Chrysa proclaimed.
"You wait in here, I'll find something for you to try on." Chloe said, pushing Ash into a dressing room.
"Black is a little too formal. Yellow, no bad idea. Oh this one looks nice!" Chloe said, skimming through the dresses.
"Here try this one on." Chloe said, passing it through the open door.
A few minutes later
"Everything okay in there?" Chloe asked through the door.
"No, I can't get this final part." Ash said struggling.
"Here let me in, and I'll see if I can help." Chloe said.
"I got it on fine, I just can't get it tight." Ash said trying to reach behind him.
"It zips in the back, here move your arms, and stop flailing around." Chloe said, zipping the dress up. "Come on they've got a place for you to see how it looks."
Ash stood in front of the mirrors looking at him in the dress. It was a navy blue, sleeveless dress that went to about his knees.
"What's with the skirt, it feels weird on the outside." Ash asked.
"A tulle outer skirt, it looks nice, along with the lace at the top." Chrysa said. "She'll need something other than those socks and her current shoes but I think it'll do nice for tonight."
"Why do you keep referring to me as a her?" Ash whispered.
"Ash, we are in the woman's department trying on dresses, you tell me why you are a she right now." Chloe threateningly whispered.
"Fair." Ash gulped.
"Now let's go see about some shoes, and maybe a pair of tights." Chloe said, changing her tone quickly.
A pair of black tights, and a pair of heels later and they were all set.
"It was nice that they let you wear it out of the store." Chrysa said.
"Don't you two need dresses?" Ash asked.
"They're back at the hotel." Chloe responded. "And we still need another thing or two."
"Can I at least have my phone back?" Ash pleaded.
"I guess, there isn't much left now, and the hard part for us is over." Chloe said handing Ash his phone.
'ding'
"Oh you've got to be kidding me!" Chloe exclaimed. "It doesn't matter, you only have Pikachu."
"Think again." Ash said holding up a Pokeball. "You really need to be better at double checking things."
"But how you put five pokeballs in the bag!" Chloe exclaimed.
"That's true, but the fast ball hadn't been used yet." Ash said with a smirk, heading off to the challenge.
"So is there going to be a pumpkin carriage to pick you up or what?" Ash's opponent asked.
"Don't worry about how I'm dressed. Does a two on two sound good?" Ash asked.
"Sounds good to me princess." He laughed.
"Bayleef I choose you!"
"Come on out Granbull!"
"Bayleef use Body Slam!"
"Granbull use Headbutt!"
The Pokémon collided into each other, both knocked back from the impact.
"Should we wait for Ash, or…". Chrysa asked.
"No, we'll get what's left to get. He'll just have to deal with what we choose." Chloe said annoyed.
"Bayleef use Razor Leaf!"
"Granbull use Play Rough!"
Granbull charged straight through the attack, hitting Bayleef hard.
"Bayleef!" Ash shouted, grabbing her Pokeball.
"Bay!" Bayleef protested, before charging straight at the Granbull.
"MEG!" Meganium shouted, having knocked out Granbull.
"Bayleef you evolved!" Ash said, ecstatically.
'Meganium the Herb Pokémon. The fragrance of Meganium's flower soothes and calms emotions. In battle, this Pokémon gives off more of its calming scent to blunt the foe's fighting spirit.'
"Granbull return. Come on out Houndoom!"
"Meganium use Body Slam!"
"Houndoom use Fire Fang!"
Meganium hit Houndoom, but her leg was bit by the attack.
"Now Houndoom use Fire Blast!"
"Meganium get out of there!"
Meganiums bulkier size ended up causing problems as it wasn't able to get out of there fast enough before getting hit by the attack.
"Meganium return. Pikachu you're up!" Ash said.
"Houndoom use Crunch!"
"Pikachu use Thunderbolt!"
Pikachu jumped out of the way just in time, before turning and landing a powerful thunderbolt on Houndoom.
"Houndoom use Fire Blast!"
"Pikachu use Quick Attack!"
Pikachu zoomed out of the way of the attack, hitting Houndoom, and knocking it off of it's feet.
"Now use Discharge!"
"Houndoom use Dig!"
Houndoom wasn't fast enough as Pikachu landed the finishing blow.
"Well princess, you win." Ash's opponent said.
"You don't need to call me that, but thanks for a great battle." Ash said, happily. Looking down at his phone, he watched his number tick up to 100!
Later at dinner
"To Goh, for being the youngest person to have proof of Mew." Professor Cerise said giving a toast. "And to Ash, you've made it to the Ultra ranks, something to be very proud of."
It was a happy night of friends and family, but that would all soon change.
