Miracle Prologue
[ACMItM: And only the miracle remained]
Three years ago
A spaceplane burns as it decends, it's engine has fallen away.
They can't possibly survive this trip. They will never return to earth.
Passengers panic while a girl prays.
Somewhere the sound of singing can be heard.
Somehow, when the plan comes down 88 passengers leave. As there were 88 passengers who got on the plane people say it's a miracle.
No body asks then, why a body is found.
[ASMItM: Daily Life - Movie Version]
Three years later, the 10th of September.
Two friends sat around a table, school had ended an hour ago so they were enjoying just hanging out.
Kuroko wasn't here yet and Misaka and Uiharu were refilling their drinks.
Saten was allowing Joule to listen to some of her music. She had become quite fond of Arisa's work.
"-first space elevator in the entire world!" Uiharu and Misaka rejoined the table as Uiharu gushed over the elevator.
Uiharu continued to talk to Misaka as she sat down "It would have been several times- No, several dozen times easier to build it at the equator but instead they did it right here in Academy City. Tell me that's not impressive!" Misaka looked a little bemused as Uiharu continued to explain
"And in spite of all the obstacles it's finally been completed. Endymion is a reality! It rises into the heavens, the first of it's kind, a bridge between earth and the sky. Isn't that the most beautiful thing ever?"
Misaka wasn't as enthusiastic but she did smile as she answered "Yeah, it's really great."
Misaka looked over at Saten and Joule. Joule was paying attention to their conversation but Saten had covered her ear without a ear bud in so she could better listen to the song.
Turning her attention to Joule and Saten, Misaka asked "How have things been for you?"
Joule nodded before answering with a simple "Good."
Saten though didn't hear her and only looked up when Joule passed the spare earbud over to her. At that she looked up to see what everyone was looking at her for.
"What were you two listening to?" Misaka asked with curiosity
"Arisa." Joule answered as Saten continued "She's been streaming a lot of her songs online lately."
At that Saten leaned over the table "She's popular enough now that she's even got her own urban legend."
Joule traded a glance with Uiharu before Saten explained the urban legend. It was oddly common for there to be a story behind most of them.
"So, people are saying that if you listen to her songs enough then good things are more likely to happen to you."
Joule briefly wondered if there was an Esper power for Probability manipulation. Arisa didn't mention if she was an Esper after all.
The earbuds moved around a bit so that all of them got the chance to listen to the song. When Kuroko arrived, she insisted that she listen to it with Misaka.
"Thinking about the space elevator again," Saten began after she had both earbuds again "isn't the name they chose... A little strange?"
"Endymion?" Uiharu asked "I don't know. I think it's a european word."
She looked it up quickly before speaking "Quite hard to search this sort of thing with the tower taking up most of the search results. It's from a Myth apparently, some shepherd or king who was loved by the goddess of the moon."
"Shepherd or king? Those are very different professions." Misaka noted with a raised eyebrow
Uiharu hummed a yes before looking into it a bit more "I can't see why they would name the tower after him though. Maybe due to it's nature as a bridge between the earth and the heavens in the myth?"
Kuroko shrugged "Maybe...? Regardless, want to do something with the rest of today?"
"We could go see Arisa?" Saten suggested.
No one had any real argument with that so they wandered to where Saten had said she was peforming.
She was packing up so they only just caught her. Well, they weren't the one who "Caught her".
She was lying on someone when they came across her.
When Misaka realised who it was she blushed and walked over to the sprawled pair.
She wasn't the only one who looked annoyed, there was a nun there. Actually was that?
"Is that you Index?"
The nun looked over at Joule's question. When she saw the group she smiled, her attention drawn away from Touma and Arisa on the floor.
"Joule and..." She looked at Saten "I don't think I ever learned your name."
"Saten," Saten introduced herself before gesturing to gesturing to her side "and this is Uiharu."
"Hello." Uiharu greeted Index.
"And over here is-" Saten cut off as she realised Kuroko was with Misaka, trying to pull her away from Touma and Arisa.
The groups looked at each other and they all took a moment to calm down so Arisa could finish packing up her keyboard and equipment. As she did so, everyone else exchanged greetings.
[ACMItM: ...I want to sing]
They moved somewhere quieter and Index started gushing about how good Arisa's songs were. Saten took the chance to join in with the praise and Arisa blushed hard.
"Please, Joule is nearly as good as I am." She tried to calm the two of them down and while Saten accepted her response without question, Index looked at Joule in surprise and asked "You're as good as Arisa?"
Joule blushed even harder than Arisa had before and muttered "Yes, sort of."
"Have you ever peformed together?" Index asked excitedly.
"We haven't. I want to though." Arisa admitted. Joule nodded before agreeing "Yeah, me too."
Misaka smiled "You've grown famous quite quickly. It's only been about two weeks right?"
"Yes," Arisa agreed "After that event my popularity grew quite quickly."
Index tilted her head "What event?"
Saten chose to explain "It's how Joule and Arisa met originally, there was an event for New Idols that wanted to prove themselves. Arisa ended up coming in first and Joule in second."
"Wow." Index's eyes looked bright when she heard that information. After a moment she continued with a wry smile "You know, I'm pretty picky when it comes to what I listen to and I know your stuff is the real deal. You aren't even casting any spells over your music and it still charms the pants off everyone who hears it."
"Casting spells? What do you mean?" Arisa asked, surprised at Joule's words.
Touma grabbed index to cover her mouth as Saten and Joule exchanged a look. They knew that Index had talked about and shown magic before.
"Well, yeah, you know." Touma began as he tried to stop Index from biting him "Everything in your song just comes across so clearly. Right! for a second it was Telepathy. But I guess that's not it?" As he finished speaking, Index managed to get an arm out of his grapple and wacked him on the head.
Arisa laughed for a moment before looking over the rail she was leaning on "No, unfortunately not. I'm a level 0 so that's impossible."
"Impossible now maybe." Saten shrugged "I used to be a level 0, I managed to get past it eventually. Maybe you just need the right kind of training."
"No don't worry, it doesn't bother me anymore." Arisa waved a hand airily "Now I'm king of greatful in a way?"
"Greatful?" Misaka asked.
Arisa looked down "It sounds weird but if I had an ability, I'm sure that is what I would be focusing on. That would be my passion, I doubt I ever would have started singing."
Joule wondered for a moment, she had an ability but it was one that used her music. If Arisa had an ability that wasn't related to her songs then maybe she was right.
"The only thing I ever really had talent for was singing. So I made up my mind to do whatever it took to become a singer." Arisa admitted "So that's my dream, to become a real singer, to peform before a huge audience on a big stage. I want it more than anything."
She gave a bright smile that almost dazzled everyone watching. Then, Arisa's phone rang.
She took the call quietly. Everyone looked on, curious as to what was happening.
After about thirty seconds the call ended and Arisa pocketed her phone.
An expectant silence filled the air as she took a breath. Finally Arisa explained "I had an audition and what do you know? That was them calling."
Her face filled with excitement again "I'm going to get a personal big debut!"
She jumped in the air, filled with joy.
End of chapter.
...Yeah, nothing I could do with the Orsala arc, I just skipped the rest of it.
You may notice we are now doing the movie. I changed the order of events around to make it all fit in the required amount of time. For those who don't remember, the timeline only allows three days for this movie (the 16th to the 18th) as it needs to happen after the remnant arc but before the Daihase festival. That doesn't actually work as I counted at least 6 days in the movie itself. I changed it around, the first half of this movie happens before the remnant arc and the second half starts after it.
