Shadow glared at Sonic. "Any last words, Sonic?"

Sonic grunted as he stood up. "Yeah. "Volcano Wonderpants!""

Shadow narrowed his eyes at the blue hedgehog in confusion. "What? That doesn't even make any-"

Sonic used that advantage to attack Shadow, and once again the two shared punch after punch.

Eggman giggled excitedly. "I'm gonna look totally awesome when I superimpose my character skin over this."

Shadow glared down at Sonic. "You have the reflexes of a panther."

"Is that an insult?" Sonic hummed in confusion. "I thought panthers were fast."

"Maybe compared to you."

Sonic growled and the two began fighting again. "And what about Penny!?" Sonic hissed at him. "What did she ever do to you?!"

Shadow ignored Sonic and hurled the blue hedgehog into a wall. Eggman grinned widely when he glanced at his footage. "This footage is even better than I imagined! I gotta go home and program it into my game."

He flew off, leaving Sonic and Shadow to fight. Sonic managed to strangle Shadow, and he glared at the dark hedgehog. "Why are you doing this, Shadow?!"

Shadow growled and kicked Sonic off him. "You'll pay for the things you said about me." And at that, Shadow smashed Sonic into a Meh Burger table.

Sonic groaned, glancing at Shadow in confusion. "You mean that stuff Eggman recorded? I didn't say anything bad."

Shadow stared at Sonic in confusion. "What are you implying?"

" I dunno. What are you inferring?"

"That Eggman manipulated that footage? To manipulate me?"

"Yeah, he'll do that."

Shadow growled. "I cannot allow Eggman to make a fool of me. He must pay for this!"

"Can't wait to see how the battle came out!" Eggman grinned, watching the footage he collected.

BANG.

Eggman jumped. "What the?!"

The lair shook. Eggman turned on the spy system and saw Shadow banging on his door.

Orbot glanced at Eggman. "Your new teleportation guard is working wonderfully. But I fear your wall won't hold up much longer."

Shadow soon closed in on the camera and growled angrily at Eggman. "Eggman! Come out, you coward!"

Eggman gulped. "I think it would be best if I gave this Shadow guy some space. Orbot! Cubot! Stall him!"

Eggman ran off, and the next thing that happened, Shadow burst in and glared at Orbot and Cubot . "Where is he?!"

"Uh...where is who?" Cubot tried.

Completely fed up, Shadow broke them apart, leaving their heads on the floor and zoomed after Eggman.

Orbot sighed. "That could have gone better."

Eggman rushed into Mombot's house. "Steve, quick! Transform into me!"

"Uh, why?" Steve frowned.

Eggman said everything in a rush. "Long story short, Shadow's gonna tear me limb from limb. He's gonna rip out my spine and play it like a xylophone."

"I didn't know Shadow was so musically inclined. But tell you what, Brobotnik, why don't you use my interdimensional portal creators to hide out in another dimension?"

" Then I can con some other Eggman into being my patsy!"

Eggman grabbed the device and opened a portal. Eggman glanced at Steve before hopping in. " Okay, I'm about to enter a different dimension. Unless you wanna face Shadow, I suggest you try looking a little less... "Eggman.""

Eggman hopped into the portal, and Steve transformed into a miniature horse, which Mombot put on the shelf.

The Dimension Eggman hummed as he scribbled on his chalkboard. " If I can manipulate the alpha fields, tweak the gamma receptors, and gird the blender, I can fold space-time and get revenge on that infernal blue hedgehog."

Eggman popped up from the portal. "No need for all that, your Lordship! I know where he is! Nice scar, by the way. Very manly."

"Me?! How did I get here?"

"I came from an alternate dimension where a shapeshifting robot version of my brother from a third dimension gave me this portal gun."

"Simple as that, huh?"

Eggman started blinking, and he turned to his dimension self. " Better hurry! Having two of us in the same dimension for too long-"

Lord Eggman and Eggman finished the sentence. "-will cause a catastrophic anomaly the likes of which mankind has never seen."

"Yeah, yeah, I'm going, I'm going." Lord Eggman sighed, walking into the portal.

Penny let out a whine of pain as Sonic finished wrapping bandages around her body. He winced and muttered, "Sorry.."

"It's not you who should apologize," Penny winced. Sonic nodded.

Tails sighed. "Oh man. Shadow really mopped the floor with us. I'm gonna be sore for weeks."

"I can't feel my everything." Knuckles whined.

"Uh, Sonic..." Penny gulped worriedly. Sonic turned to see what bothered her, and his eyes narrowed.

Lord Eggman.

Lord Eggman sneered at him. "There you are, you blue beaver! Finally, I can take you on, one-on-one."

Sonic looked confused. "'Finally'? We fight all the time!" He paused in realization. "Oh, wait, are you that emo Eggman from the alternate dimension?"

"I'm not "emo"!" Lord Eggman snapped. "I just don't care for garish colors, okay?"

Penny gulped as Eggman unleashed a glowing red laser, and started attacking Sonic with it. Sonic tried spin dashing at him but was easily tossed back.

"Sweet moves, Lord Nosehair." Sonic hummed, and lunged out to attack again. Penny let out a startled scream as Lord Eggman almost stabbed Sonic with his laser. Lord Eggman raised his staff, but Shadow knocked it away from Sonic.

"Shadow!" Penny cried. Even though he hurt her, she was still happy to see him. Shadow glanced swiftly at the human girl, actually feeling guilty for hurting her, but he shook it off him and glared at Lord Eggman. "Eggman, you shall perish for tricking me."

Lord Eggman jumped, surprised. "Whoa, whoa, whoa! I didn't trick you! I don't even know who you are!"

Shadow glared at him. "Your elaborate costume doesn't fool me."

"Shadow, he's telling the truth!" Penny yelled, trying to get the black and red hedgehog's attention.

Lord Eggman nodded, understandingly. "Oh, I get it. The Eggman you're looking for is in another dimension."

He grabbed the portal generator and Shadow walked through.

"Shadow..." Penny said, reaching for him. Sonic turned to the gang. "I'm going through the portal into the other dimension too. You guys keep an eye on Lord Eggbutt."

The team nodded as Sonic dashed in. Penny narrowed her eyes and ran after him, ignoring her team's protests.

"Guys, wait up!"

Sonic's eyes shrunk and he turned to the human girl, his eyes wide. "Penny? This is dangerous!"

"I know." Penny said. "But I wanted to help, whether you like it or not."

Sonic was about to protest when Shadow growled. "Where's Eggman?"

" It's a whole different place. Eggman could be anywhere." Sonic said.

"Look out!" Penny yelped, quickly pulling both Shadow and Sonic to the ground, saving the three of them from a missile. Sonic sweat dropped. "Or he could be right there."

Eggman chuckled, and Metal Sonic appeared at the doctor's side. "You know Metal Sonic, right? He's been upgraded with all the video game motion capture data I recorded."

Metal Sonic fired another laser blast. Shadow managed to avoid it and pulled Penny in his arms and out of harm's way.

The girl turned to Sonic, her eyes wide as she watched Metal fire at him, knocking him down.

Metal Sonic punched at Sonic, but Sonic barely avoided it and stood up again, only to be knocked down by an uppercut from Metal Sonic.

"SONIC!" Penny cried, her eyes wide.

Shadow left Penny's side and attacked Metal Sonic, but wasn't able to land a hit on him. Metal Sonic grabs a street sign, whirling it.

"Hey!" Penny yelled. "Staffs are MY THING, and MY THING ALONE!"

"PENNY, LOOK OUT!" Sonic yelled, quickly pushing the girl away as Metal Sonic slammed the pole at her. He managed to knock Shadow away. Shadow ran back in, joined by Sonic and Penny. Metal Sonic manages to knock the three of them away with the sign. Sonic and Shadow both tried fighting again, this time with Penny's watchful eye. She managed to save both Sonic and Shadow twice.

Sonic narrowed his eyes. "We have to coordinate a spin attack from opposite sides."

Shadow narrowed his eyes. "I take orders from no one." He punched Sonic into Penny's arms, who caught him. Sonic nodded at Penny, and the two managed to get back into the fight, and Eggman opened up the portal again. Shadow, Sonic, and Penny narrowed their eyes at each other and nodded, tackling the fake Sonic and hauling him through the portal, followed close by Eggman.

Lord Eggman struggled through his bonds, muffled noises coming through his gag. Knuckles glared at him. "Struggle all you want, Formalwear Eggman. We've got everything under control."

The portal opened, and Penny landed beside Knuckles, while Sonic and Shadow took care of Metal.

"Except for that..." Knuckles finished.

Eggman flew after them, and Amy narrowed her eyes. " Injuries or not, we've gotta step up!"

The gang nodded. Penny gulped, grabbing her staff, ignoring the pains from her sides. She joined the gang. She tried smacking Metal Sonic with her bo, but he kicked her to the ground. Amy narrowed her eyes, trying to destroy him with her hammer, but the robot dodged it and attached a rock to a stick, twirling it like Amy's hammer.

Amy glared at him. "Hey! Hammers are MY THING!"

"Let me have 'em, Amy." Penny said, narrowing her eyes as she dodged at Metal. The robot smacked her to the ground with ease, and the girl yelped in pain. Metal Sonic threw away the hammer and raised his fist. Penny winced and tried protecting herself, but no good. Thankfully, Tails, Knuckles, Sticks, and Amy quickly surrounded the robot, and Sonic joined as well. Amy, Tails, Knuckles, and Sonic quickly wrapped their Enerbeams around Metal Sonic.

Hearing the machine gun of Metal Sonic power up, Sonic glanced at it and looked over to Penny, who was trying to get up. "PENNY, LOOK OUT!" Sonic yelled, trying to get her to move out of the way.

Thankfully, Sticks ran in and quickly smashed her own bo staff into the power source, and he crippled to the ground.

The gang cheered.

"Great job, guys!" Penny grinned, shooting them a thumbs up. Sonic smirked back, but looked over her shoulder and frowned, pulling the human girl behind him. Penny glanced over his shoulder and her eyes widened. "Shadow!"

Shadow sneered at them. " Look at you celebrating like the game's been won. This is only the beginning... of the end."

Sonic narrowed his eyes. "All right. Kinda cryptic, Shadow. You wanna elaborate on that one?"

Shadow sneered. "I'm no longer satisfied simply taking vengeance on that lackwit Eggman. I want revenge on this whole pathetic universe. That's why I took those mustached fools to a secret location."

The gang's eyes poured over the ropes that laid on the ground now. Penny shuddered. Tails narrowed his eyes. "With both Eggmen in this dimension, there will be a catastrophic anomaly that will destroy our entire universe!"

" Now you're catching on. So long fools... forever."

Shadow teleported away, and the clouds began to form. Amy's eyes widened. "Oh no! The anomaly's already beginning!"

Sticks narrowed her eyes. "We gotta find those Eggmen, fast!"

"But how are we going to do it?" Penny asked. "We don't even know where Shadow hid them!" She turned to Tails. "Got any ideas, buddy?"

Tails glanced at her. "I think so, Penny. If I can piece Metal Sonic back together, I might be able to use its built-in homing beacon to lead us to Eggman."

Sonic nodded. "Great! Tails, you're on that. Everyone else, let's get searching. Penny, stay here with Tails."

The rest of the gang ran off, and Penny assisted Tails any way as possible until he finally got Metal Sonic to work again. The robot blinked his red eyes open and stared at Tails and Penny.

"He's awake!" Penny cheered. "Hey, buddy, you know where-"

Before she could finish, Metal Sonic zoomed out of the work shop, startling her and Tails. Tails glanced at Penny with a hum. "He's one step ahead of us."

"Let's follow him!" Penny said. She took off, followed closely by Tails, but Metal was going too fast. Tails gasped, raising his hand. "Hey! Wait!"

"Now what?!" Penny gasped, pulling her raincoat hood over her head securely as she watched the robot zoom off into the distance.

"I'll contact Sonic!" Tails said, determination in his eyes. He turned on his communicator. "Sonic! Metal's beacon is homed in on Eggman, but he's moving too fast! I can't keep up!"

"Thankfully, I'm Sonic the Hedgehog." Sonic responded.

Penny narrowed her eyes and ran off, ignoring Tails' protests.

She finally found the cave Shadow mentioned in one of their earlier conversations before this mix up. She ran inside and found Sonic untying the Eggmans. " Lord Eggman! You need to leave our dimension." Sonic told the doctor.

Lord Eggman glanced sadly at his double. "I'll never forget you, friend."

"Yeah, yeah, just get outta here!" Eggman snapped.

Penny turned on the portal, and she and Sonic pushed Lord Eggman through. Once it closed, the sky cleared up.

"Hey, it's done!" Penny grinned, jumping into Sonic's arms, startling him. "We DID it!"

The rest of the team ran up and cheered in celebration, and Shadow appeared in front of them, glaring at them. " I'm not thrilled with the results, but I must admit I'm impressed with how you saved the universe. I'll be back, Sonic. But next time, on my terms."

He teleported off.

"Shadow..." Penny mumbled sadly, reaching out to him, and Sonic grabbed her in a comforting hug.

"Well, I almost caused the end of the world, but it was all worth it. I got great yolk-capture footage for my video game." Eggman said cheerily.

"About that... During the catastrophic anomaly, your evil lair was struck by lightning. All of your mo-cap files were destroyed." Orbot said hesitantly.

Eggman sighed. "Well, there's always next season."
