Okay, guys, this is the final chapter and second bonus chapter for my Sonic Boom! book! It's been fun, and I really appreciate all of your courage and story idea help.
So. You've seen what happened while Penny was with Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles through "Planes, Trains, and Dude Mobiles", now let's see what happens if she stayed with Amy and Sticks through their staycation! Enjoy!
Amy turned to Penny and Sticks with a wide grin. "With the guys out of town on their Dude-itude concert, we can finally have some quality girl time. See a movie, go to the club-"
"Sharpen our bayonets, oil our bayonets, polish our bayonets.." Sticks finished.
"Bayonets?" Penny asked, her brown eyes raised in confusion. Amy frowned at the badger. "Sticks, we don't have bayonets."
Sticks grinned. " Oh yeah. Buy bayonets!"
" Why do we need bayonets?" Amy asked with a raised brow.
"Our team is going to be weakened by three, and Eggman's still out there. We have to be prepared!" Sticks said.
"Okay..." Penny raised her eyes at the badger, completely confused.
Later, the girls met up with the gang to say goodbye to Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. Amy smiled at the guys after Sonic gave Penny a goodbye hug and kiss. " Have fun on your trip, guys! Don't do anything I wouldn't do!"
Sonic glanced out the window, confusion on his face. "I thought you said to "have fun."
Amy growled, and Penny chuckled, waving goodbye to the gang as they drove off. Sticks turned to Amy and Penny. " So, who's got first guard duty shift?"
"Do we have to?" Penny whined.
Amy shook her head. "We don't need guard duty, Sticks. What we need is a plan to keep Eggman at bay."
"Good idea, Amy!" Penny grinned. "What do you have in mind?"
Amy smirked and led the girls to her house, where she picked out a handmade Sonic doll and nailed it to a post outside. "Lucky for us, I just happen to own this homemade Sonic doll. Which I keep around for totally legitimate, definitely non-creepy reasons." Amy said, chuckling nervously at Penny and Sticks's suspicious glare.
Hearing Eggman whistling, the girls nodded at each other and quickly dove into the bushes. Eggman stopped at the sight of the Sonic doll and immediately thought it was Sonic in front of him. " Oh? Well, if it isn't Sonic!"
Silence.
Eggman narrowed his eyes. "What's with the smug grin? You got beef, hedgehog? Then why don't you bring it to my grill?"
Nothing.
"Yeah, that's what I thought. You don't want none of this, nuh-uh."
Nothing.
Eggman frowned. "Yeah, giving me the cold shoulder, huh? You just started a war, you blue pincushion!"
Penny chuckled, and Amy smiled in relief. " That should keep him occupied for a while. So, how do you want to kick off our girl's weekend?"
"Oh, I know!" Sticks grinned. She led the girls over to a mud pit and stacked three cans on a log and grabbed a hand full of mud. "Mud clump hurling!" She tossed another mud clump at a can, causing Penny to cringe.
Amy frowned, sharing the same amount of disgust. "Can't we do something a little less... how do I put this gently... repugnant, uncouth, and boorish?"
"I agree with Amy, not my style. Sorry, Sticks." Penny said.
"At least give it a try." Sticks encouraged. Penny and Amy sighed. Penny stooped down and picked up some mud from the ground and quickly threw it, flinging the dirt off her hands as she did. To her amazement, she got a perfect bulls eye.
"I did it!" Penny grinned, and Sticks squealed, hugging the human girl to a point where she was lifted off the ground. Penny grunted in surprise, this was one of the first times Sticks had shown actual affection towards the human girl.
After placing Penny down, Sticks turned to Amy with a grin. "Your turn!"
Amy sighed glumly and picked up a hand full of mud, and hesitated. As she did, mud fell on her pretty pink dress, and she yelped, quickly flinging the mud off. She turned to Sticks and Penny with an apologetic glance. "Sorry, Penny, Sticks, but dirt throwing isn't my cup of tea. Thankfully, I know something that is my cup of tea..."
"...a cup of tea!"
The girls sat next to each other in Amy's house, drinking from teacups. The smell of tea filled the air, and Penny cringed slightly. She hated tea.
Sticks glanced at Amy as she finished speaking. "Why did you just say that?"
Amy glanced at Sticks. "Remember before when I said, "I know something that is my cup of tea"? I was just finishing the thought."
Sticks raised an eye brow. "But...you just said that like an hour ago."
Amy nodded with a smirk. "Yeah, but imagine if you were an outside observer just watching pieces of the conversation."
"YOU SEE THEM TOO?!" Sticks shrieked, glancing around suspiciously. Penny let out a giggle.
Amy pulled out stuff for knitting and handed them to the girls. " Let's just get back to knitting." She glanced at Penny and nodded in approval, and turned to Sticks whos knitting looked...well...awful.
Amy tisked. "Definitely seeing some improvement, but remember you always want to knit the first row, then change to a ribbing pattern."
Sticks sighed, lowering down the knitting tools. "Sorry, but this nursing home activity stuff just ain't my bag."
"Me too, even though I'm doing a good job." Penny said, turning to Amy. "Have another thing in mind, princess?"
Amy frowned at Penny, but hummed thoughtfully, and smiled. " I think I have an idea that will satisfy the three of us!"
Pretty soon, Penny found her relaxing in a chair while she got her hair cut. Amy sighed happily as she relaxed in a bathtub, and Sticks relaxed in a mud bath. Amy opened her eyes and turned to the girls. "How ya doin' over there, girls?"
"Amy, this is the best idea yet!" Penny said. Her brown hair was now chin-length, and she was now getting a back massage.
Sticks glanced at the girls with wide eyes. "So lemme get this straight. If I roll around in mud in the jungle, I'm a savage, but if I pay forty bucks to soak in it here, I'm civilized?"
Amy grinned, nodding. "Exactly!"
Sticks hummed. "Works for me."
Penny's communicator beeped, and she answered it, knowing who it was. "Hey, Sonic, what's up?" Sonic answered, sounding annoyed. "Penny, please tell me you're having as miserable a time as I am."
"Not really, Sonic!" Penny said with a grin. "Amy's treating me and Sticks to an amazing spa day, I can't wait to see your face when you see my new hair style! I'm sure you guys are doing just fine."
"Now over here is the official letter from the Book of Records, asking me to stop contacting them." Another voice popped up, and Penny raised her eyes. " I stand corrected. Well, have fun on your vacation. Take lots of pictures." Penny cooed, and the same voice snapped. "NO PICTURES!"
Penny chuckled at Sonic's exasperated sigh, and turned off her communicator. Little did she know that the person sitting next to her was Belinda, who was chuckling at a new idea coming to her head. She lifted down her girl's magazine, snickering. "Excuse me, miss, I don't want to interrupt, but is it true that Sonic is out of town?"
Penny glanced at her, and said slowly, "Y-yes..." She stuttered, feeling uncomfortable all of the sudden.
"That's all I wanted to know." Belinda said. "Continue with your spa day, dear."
Penny shuddered a bit but slowly shrugged it off, and called to one of the shopkeepers to help her with some nail painting.
Belinda chuckled and left the spa shop, and over to her husband's work space, who was back to digging archeology.
While that was going on, Eggman was going through a little drama of his own. He snuck around the Sonic plush, still believing it was Sonic, and hurried behind the bushes and stuck his head out. "Ca-caw! Ca-caw!"
Nothing.
Annoyed, Eggman hissed, "I said, Ca-caw! Ca-caw!"
Cubot popped out of his hiding place, wearing a crudely drawn Tails mask and moved up to the doll. "Hey Sonic! It's me, your best friend with the two tails?" He moaned. "Oh, what's his name?" He quickly cleared his throat again. "Check out these fly dance moves!"
Cubot started dancing, and Eggman grumbled in annoyance. " He had two hours to think of a distraction and that's what he came up with?"
He snuck around and called Orbot. "Okay, Orbot, your turn." He did another bird call and Orbot popped up with another crudely drawn Tails mask. "Sonic! It is I, Tails! Watch me gambol!"
And just like that, he did a body-slap dancing.
Eggman groaned. "Oh, for the love of..." He shook it off and quickly snuck up to the Sonic doll. The sonic doll turned towards him, and Eggman left the scene, screaming his head off.
While that was happening, Belinda found Charlie in his work space, digging up another mech suit. Belinda grinned evilly. "Charlie! I just overheard that Sonic, Tails and Knuckles are out of town. The village is ours for the taking!"
Charlie turned to her. " As much as I'd love to unleash a reign of terror upon the village that will be remembered for a thousand generations, I really need to get back to my excavation"
"My mother was right about you. You don't have the fortitude to stand up to anybody."
"We'll see if she gets a holiday card this year."
"She will!"
"Yes, dear."
Back to the Sonic doll. Eggman and his robots surrounded the plush, still thinking it was the real Sonic. After Eggman ordered his bots to attack, they darted forward. One explosion later and Sonic was long gone from his spot, the only thing left was a pile of ash and a burnt stake sticking from the ground.
Eggman chuckled gleefully. " This is the greatest day of my life! Oh, wait. I prepared something for this!"
He pulled something from his pocket and cleared his throat, reading the paper. ""When Sonic and I first locked eyes so many years ago, it was hate at first sight. And now I stand here, my head full of hair..." He raised his eyes with a frown. "Whoa. How long ago did I write this?"
Feeling someone pull his sleeve, Eggman turned to Cubot who was pointing ahead. Eggman followed Cubot's finger and saw the half torn Sonic doll and gasped, narrowing his eyes. "That's not Sonic. It's all been a brilliant, elaborate ruse!"
""Brilliant" might be a little generous, don't you think?" Orbot hummed.
"That sneaky trickster is gonna pay for his labyrinthine web of lies." Eggman hissed.
Penny hummed in relaxation as she soaked in a bath, but their moment was ruined when Eggman called out. "Sonic! Come on out, you conniving charlatan!"
The girls stopped what they were doing and Penny and Amy redressed themselves. Sticks shook the mud off, causing Amy and Penny to cringe.
"Sticks, not my new hair!" Penny whined.
Amy sighed. "Oh, come on! I just got my fur done."
The girls ran out to see Eggman attacking. Sticks hummed, turning to Amy. "Looks like your little decoy plan may have backfired."
Eggman turned to them, eyebrows raised. "Your decoy plan?"
Amy nodded. "Sticks, Penny, and I set up a fake Sonic to distract you while the guys are out of town. We wanted a weekend to ourselves. I'm sure you understand."
Eggman nodded, narrowing his eyes. " I understand. I understand how pulverized you're gonna be! Robots, attack!"
Penny grabbed her bo staff, and she fought along with Sticks and Amy. Sticks let out a yell as she was pushed back into the spa shop. She groaned until she glanced at Lady Walrus and another shop owner, who was showing her fake nails. "How about we try some press-on nails? You'll find they really draw attention away from your... ehm... everything else?"
Sticks grabbed them and tossed them at Eggman and his bots. Eggman shrieked and amazingly managed to dodge them, letting his own robots take the hit. Eggman groaned, straightening his back.
Amy narrowed her eyes at Sticks and Penny. "Toss me one of those fur extensions!"
"Aye aye, Ma'am!" Penny yelled. She and Sticks ran into the Spa shop and quickly grabbed the fur extensions, tossing them to Amy, who wrapped them around the robots, destroying them. Penny grabbed a shampoo bottle and squirted it at Eggman. "Yeah! Right at the royal moustache!"
Eggman snarled as he felt his now slimy moustache. "Is this one of those all-in-one shampoo/conditioners? That's gonna dry out my stache!"
Eggman's stache puffed out, and he snarled, turned his heal and ran away. The crowd cheered.
"Uh, guys..." Penny gulped, tapping Amy's shoulder as the sound of metallic feet stomped behind them.
Amy narrowed her eyes. "Back for more, Egghead?"
"It's not Egghead..." Penny gulped. "It's Belinda!"
The three girls turned to see Belinda sneering down at them. "Yes, my dear! It is I, Belinda!"
Penny growled, grabbing her bo staff. "You're going down!" She and the girls let out a yell and dodged at Belinda, but quickly dodged out of the way as Belinda fired at them.
" I've stood on the sidelines too long, watching that puddinghead Eggman and my inept husband fail time and time again. Now Mama B wants a piece of the action!" Belinda hissed with a smirk.
Penny groaned, lifting her head from her spot on the ground as she watched Belinda turn to the villagers. "And don't think I forgot about you. Must you always be so snarky?"
"I should be more like you: A maniac in a mech-suit firing lasers at everyone." Male Finick said sarcastically, and that ended him getting shot by the ray.
"What's the big idea?!" Sticks cried, her blue eyes wide. "He didn't do nothing!"
"Actually, it's "he didn't do anything." Fastidious said suddenly, and Belinda froze him. " I know I can't be the only one who's sick of him." She turned to Lady Goat. "And you. I just don't like the look of you!"
She froze Lady Goat, and then turned to Penny, who whimpered. At that moment, her communicator beeped.
"Sonic, is it important?!" Penny asked, trying to run from Belinda.
Sonic sounded frantic as he spoke to her. "Penny, no time to explain. Tails, Knuckles, and I are in jail. We need you to bail us out!"
Penny yelped as Belinda froze her, and Sonic's yells was the only thing she heard. She watched from her frozen position as Amy answered Sonic for Penny. " Sonic, I am really not in the mood for your practical jokes right now!" She yelped as she ducked a fireball. "Sticks, Penny, and I have our hands full! We'll talk later."
Amy turned off the call and she and Sticks turned to Belinda, quickly fighting her. Amy frowned as Belinda kicked Amy away. "This isn't working. We need to try something different!"
Noticing some mud, Amy smirked and picked up a handful. "Mud clump hurling!"
She hurled the mud at Belinda, who shrieked. "There's mud all over me! That I didn't pay forty bucks for! What am I, a savage?" She was interrupted as another mud clump splashed onto her.
Sticks narrowed her eyes and ran to Male Finick. " I got an idea. But I need to borrow a few things from your store. If you've got a problem with that, gimme a sign."
No response. Taking that as a yes, Sticks grinned. "Great! Thanks." She ran to the shop and took some knitting tools. "Finish the first row, then switch to a ribbing pattern."
She knitted a long scarf, making a tripwire. Amy managed to drive Belinda towards it, and Belinda tripped over the tripwire. Amy did the finishing touches by slamming Belinda's mech suit with her hammer. The disabled mech suit freed the villagers, and Penny, now free herself, quickly ran over to Sticks and Amy and catapulted Belinda into the air.
The girls turned to each other, and giggled excitedly, sharing a high five. "Best Girl's Weekend ever!"
After that fight, Belinda groaned as she walked into her home. "What did I do wrong? I was ruthless, cunning, merciless... I'm just glad I can go home and take it out on my husband."
She opened the door, and Charlie met her with open arms and a grin. " Surprise! I know you're angry with me about not fighting those heroes for you, but I had a good reason. I was excavating... your anniversary gift!"
He motioned his hand to a present on the floor, and she opened it, revealing a mechanical wingsuit. Her mouth dropped open.
Charlie smiled. " If I know anything about women, it's that every gal loves to get a new outfit. That gives her the ability to fly and shoot deadly blasts from mid-air."
Belinda squealed and caught Charlie in a big hug. " It's perfect!"
The two walked outside, and Charlie strapped Belinda in the suit. The woman flew around and smirked at her husband. "Looks like Hedgehog Village just got its new power couple."
Charlie smiled, hugging his wife. "Happy Anniversary, honeybunny."
After the fight with Belinda, Sticks grinned at Penny and Amy. "This whole time, I thought Eggman was gonna be our number one problem. But it turned out to be Belinda."
Amy grinned. "You never know what to expect around here."
"Yeah!" Penny grinned. Hearing someone walk up, she frowned. "Hey, Amy, isn't that Eggman with your Sonic plush?"
The girls turned to Eggman, who paused, holding the Sonic plush in his arms. " Uh? Don't mind me! Just taking this back to my lair for, uh, research!" He let out a nervous chuckle and ran off, much to the girls' confusion.
Penny shook her head and smiled. She glanced up at the setting sun and wondered what other amazing adventures she'll have with Sonic and her group of friends.
