Getting close to the end of the addendums :)

Addendum 14

Hiccup did not remember waking up. It was a couple days before he did again, and the first thing he said was "Is Toothless okay?" This time, he was around long enough to hear me say Toothless is fine, and he nodded a little in response before drifting off again.

...

The next time he woke up, I wasn't there, but Gobber was. I asked him to stop by to make sure he was okay, and when he got there, Hiccup was just becoming aware.

"Dad?" Hiccup asked.

"It's me, laddie," Gobber said.

"Oh. Where's Dad?"

"He'll be home soon, don't worry."

"Oh." Hiccup blinked, still looking pretty confused. "Is he mad?"

"Why would he be mad?"

"Because of Toothless. I'm worried about him."

"Don't worry about Toothless, Hiccup. He's right here."

"He is?"

"Yes, he's asleep right now, but he's right there."

"Can I see him?" Hiccup asked, shifting his position.

"Eh, best if you stay there, lad," Gobber said. "Don't want you getting hurt."

"Oh." Hiccup said, fighting to keep his eyes open.

"It's okay, Hiccup. I'll tell your dad you were up. You can sleep."

"Thanks… Gobber…" With that, he faded away again.

The next time he woke up, Astrid was visiting.

I noticed Hiccup stirring first, then Astrid did. "Is he-"

"It's been like this for about a week," I clarified. "He'll wake up for a few minutes before falling back under. Just so you don't get your hopes up." I stood up, making my way to his side, and a moment later, Astrid followed.

"Hi," Hiccup said, still not fully aware.

"Good evening, son," I replied. "Astrid is here too."

"What?"

"Astrid is beside me."

"Astrid?" I nodded, and an almost… SCARED look crossed his face. "No… She can't be here…"

"Why not?"

"She doesn't like me… no one does…" Hiccup's words melded together; he was only about half there, if I had to guess, and it seemed like he didn't remember making amends with anyone.

"That's not true, Hiccup," Astrid chimed in, and her voice seemed to startle him.

"Wait, she really is here?"

"Yes, son."

"I…" his expression changed. "That's weird."

"What?" I asked, concerned.

"Hurts," He said, his eyes beginning to close again. "I don't remember… getting hurt…"

"Hiccup, hang on, what hurts?"

He opened his eyes as much as he could. "Leg… something weird…"

But before I could say anything else, he was out.
