"But why show up now after all this time Kelly?" Gibbs was livid with the question and quite upset.
"Daddy, you need to understand that it was me only to have made the decision to come here in the first place. Mommy had no say in the matter since she is still healing inside having made the decisions 34 years ago to leave with the Witness Protection Program to Italy. Even though it would of been our lives to be killed by Pedro Hernandez?" she said...
"Very true. However how did you find out about me being in the hospital Kelly?" he needed to know with the question.
"Police scanner. We have always had one to keep us updated on any police activity. We had heard your name mention by the ambulance driver over the scanner telling the hospital that you were shot in the stomach at your house. Just what exactly had happened daddy?" she asked with a look of concern on her face.
"Thinking that two Russian snipers were going to be finishing the job on me with orders from the Cartel leader. I had as with my wife along with the two boys to the Evergreen safe house for protection. That night with a D.O.D. undercover agent posing as an nanny. We had placed motion sensors throughout the house not knowing that a decoy was set up outside to upset the entire neighborhood. It was late at night Kelly when the two had been hiding in the attic."
"For which is easy to do. Since I used to do the same thing to hide from you and mommy at times." she smiled at the comment.
"Yes. They waited for the decoy to go off outside with Alexi the one Russian came downstairs pointing the rifle at me. Though I was told not to move."
"And of course you did?" Kelly said...
"Correct. I was than hit in the face with the butt of the rifle to knock me back against the couch. Meanwhile Alicia was coming down the stairs for when she heard a gun shot. She fired directly into his head to kill him outright. Once she came downstairs she quickly turned with her rifle to kill the other one coming after her. And the rest is history?" he said it as a slur...
"Jesus! That was just downright scary daddy?" she says with placing a hand onto his shoulder.
"It was as always for when ever I take the biggest chance on the job or off to get myself injured in the first place?" Gibbs quipped for the most part.
"What does Loreile have to say every time on the subject?"
"She hates it Kelly. She wants me to retire as with everyone else?" Gibbs responded. "However there is a possible chance that I will take Director Vance's offer to work part time at the ACADEMY and GUN Range three days a week, along with an occasional OFF THE BOOKS undercover operation." he said for which she tried to understand.
"Daddy can you be happy to be doing this after 30 plus years?" she hit it right on the mark for when it came to the question.
"I really don't know Kelly. But my body has been slowing down on me with my right knee, back, my reflexes and most of all my judgement for which my wife is always telling me this." Gibbs responded..
"That's because Kelly I love to always tease your father all of the time and he loves it and he knows it nevertheless?" Loreile smiled back at her husband.
"Don't believe her, Kelly? I hate it for when it comes to my demeanor." Gibbs joke.
"I try it all of the time with my wife as well Jethro? Even though there are times that Kelly is just too serious at times." he said...
"Wouldn't you be to James with having to be scared for most of my life? and running away from the dangers that will kill me and mother for the past 34 years?" Kelly responded with the shake of her head.
"I know the feeling Kelly?" Loreile said. "I have always face my fears over the years with trying to be the best person ever for my life. It was why I wanted to better myself for when I joined the Marines for two years as a communications. Afterwards I moved to the F.B.I., C.I.A. before settling with the Navy."
"How long was your husband before he died in the Navy?" Alex asked the question this time.
"Ten years. And he hated it mostly. Accept for when his team will go out on rescue and other type of operations over the years." Loreile quipped with her words...
"How did you get the word about your husband's death?" Alex responded...
"Over the phone by Commander Jason Edwards of the Naval base in North Fork, Virginia." she said with emotion. "I was both sad and with anger at the same time for having left me alone with having to take care of my daughter Elizabeth. Otherwise I was able to continue on with my life until that night during the rainstorm to have the brakes on the vehicle to fail and crash into a tree killing my daughter and injuring myself."
"I am so sorry to hear that Loreile. How long did it take you to come out of that black void you had mention?" Shannon needed to asked the question.
" A year after a number of times talking to a therapist and with starting and pushing myself with a new life moving away from North Fork, Virginia to work for the Navy and the Evergreen safe house for the past five years."
"And now for NCIS and Director Leon Vance part time?" Jethro says with a smirk showing up on his face.
"I just love it to work the hours either in the morning, afternoon or at night depending on the amount of work Vance gives me?" she said ...
