Harry, Ginny, James, Albus, and Lily would get another visit from Teddy, Victoire, Remus and Dora the very next day, Tuesday, August 3rd, 2021.
James, Albus, and Lily had all thoroughly enjoyed meeting the Metamorphmagus children and as Harry, Ginny, James, Albus, and Lily didn't have anything planned for that day and neither did Teddy, Victoire, Remus and Dora, Harry had sent Teddy an owl asking if Teddy, Victoire, Remus and Dora could come over again and Teddy had instantly replied with a yes.
On this day, Harry had magically expanded the Potters white Ashley Furniture sofa so that it could seat nine people who could all sit six feet apart from each other and Teddy, Victoire, Remus, and Dora flooed in just after one in the afternoon and made themselves comfortable on the sofa.
"Hi!" chroused Teddy, Victoire, Remus and Dora warmly as they took their seats.
"Hi!' returned Harry, Ginny, James, Albus, and Lily with equal warmth in their voices.
With the greetings exchanged, Teddy announced, "What I didn't tell you yesterday is this: Remus and Dora have apparently advanced the Metamorphmagus trait."
James, Albus, and Lily all looked curiously over at Remus and Dora and Lily had a look of eager anticipation in her eyes.
"I will keep my black hair today and leave the showing off to the kids, " grinned Teddy, "But before I have Remus and Dora show the advancement in the Metamorphmagus trait, there's something else I'd like to ask them to display. You see, yesterday, the only time Remus and Dora had different hair colors was when they were both on their natural hair colors. As the Metamorphosing occurred, Remus and Dora always had the same hair color at any given time. Today, before I explain their more advanced Metamorphmagus trait, I want Remus and Dora to display different hair colors at the same time."
"Why don't James, Albus, and Lily make some requests then?" suggested Harry.
"How about something Halloweeny?" requested James excitedly, "Remus orange and Dora skull green."
Remus and Dora obliged, with Remus making his hair orange and Dora making hers skull green.
"That's awesome!" said James admiringly, "The orange and skull green definitely give off a Halloweenish vibe!"
"Half fun and half creepy!" cooed Lily adoringly.
"Brilliant!" chimed in Albus.
"Cheers!" said Remus and Dora together, beaming at James, Albus, and Lily.
"So, " smiled Victoire, looking over at Teddy, "Are we ready for Remus and Dora to reveal their more advanced aspect of the Metamorphmagus trait now?"
"Yes, " grinned Teddy.
"How about having Lily make a specific suggestion and seeing if it's something Remus and Dora can execute with their more complex Metamorphmagus gene?" suggested Ginny.
"Okay, " said Teddy simply.
"How about something Christmassy!" piped up Lily eagerly.
Remus and Dora had two different approaches to this idea.
Next nanosecond, Remus had made his hair a vibrant mixture of red and green with a red strand of hair, then a green one, then another red one, then another green one, and so forth. Dora, on the other hand, had given her hair the look of a candy cane with her hair strands alternating between red and white.
"WOW!" chroused Harry, Ginny, James, Albus, and Lily.
"You know, " said Lily cheerfully, "Remus's red and green look reminds me of the red and green themed Christmas dad held for us last year."
"Totally agree, " said Harry joyfully, "I remember how much you enjoyed that theme!"
"Dora's candy cane look is bloody brilliant!" exclaimed James, "It is perfect!"
"Awesome!" declared Albus.
"Thank you!" said Remus happily, "We're happy you liked that."
"We are!" agreed Dora, "And it was super duper fun to do!"
"So, " explained Victoire, "The more advanced Metamorphmagus gene Teddy was talking about is that fact that Remus and Dora have the ability to make their hair multiple colors at the same time."
"And by multiple, " added Teddy in anticipation, "We don't mean just two!"
At that, Remus's hair turned into a beauftul depiction of a rainbow, with his strands of hair going red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet and repeating the pattern as long he had hair.
Dora, meanwhile, had made her hair a third light pink, a third hot pink, and a third magenta.
"Like it Lily?" giggled Dora.
"Love it!" giggled Lily back as the two girls exchanged wide grins.
"And Remus, " said Lily brightly, "Your rainbow is beautiful!"
"Thank you, Lily, " said Remus happily.
Remus's rainbow hair reminded James, Albus, and Lily of the rainbow picture Devon had drawn for the Hogwarts Drawing Competition.
"Remus's hair actually looks like a real rainbow!" injected James jovially.
"Cheers, James!" replied Remus.
"The colors are nice and vibrant too, " added Albus.
"Glad you like it, Albus!" responded Remus.
"The sky's the limit for Remus's and Dora's Metamorphosing!" said Teddy fondly.
"I sooo want to pull Remus and Dora towards me and cuddle them!" admitted Lily.
"They would much love that!" acknowledged Victoire, "But alas, the world is a different place than it once was."
"While I respect that it's necessary, I HATE social distancing and having to always to stay six feet apart from people, " said Lily sadly, "I miss physical affection and I especially miss hugs."
"We all do, " said Harry quietly, nodding in understanding.
"I'm still grateful for the opportunity to meet Remus and Dora at all though, " added Lily.
"Teddy, " said Harry seriously, "I know from personal experience that there is no more deeply personal experience than the experience of becoming a father. Is there anything that stands out in your mind?"
"Two biggies that will remain stuck in my mind forevermore in the sweetest way possible are the moment when Remus and Dora took their first steps and the moment Remus and Dora said their first words, " answered Teddy emotionally.
"Yeah, those are always big moments, " nodded Harry in understanding.
"Hey, Remus, Dora?" asked Lily, "Can you two do a series of quick changes of each individual color of the rainbow?"
Without uttering a syllable, Remus and Dora immediately began a flashing pattern where their hair would be red for a few seconds, then orange for a few seconds, then yellow for a few seconds, then green for a few seconds, then blue for a few seconds, then indigo for a few seconds, and finally violet for a few seconds before repeating the pattern.
This carried on for a few minutes and a few nanoseconds without any talking from anyone. There were just smiles and laughs.
Finally, Remus and Dora put their hair back to their natural colors.
"That was fantastic, " said Lily cheerfully, "But I suppose you've had enough for now?"
"Yes, " admitted Remus and Dora.
"We understand and respect that, " said Lily firmly, giving everyone else looks telling them quite plainly to accept that.
They passed some time by going into the game room and playing the classic board game Chutes and Ladders, a game ultimately won by Remus.
After that, it was time for Teddy, Victoire, Remus, and Dora to go home.
But before they did, Teddy, Remus, and Dora turned their hair silvery blonde to match Victoire's before bidding goodbye to the Potters and flooing out.
Since Victoire wasn't a Metamorphmagus and couldn't change her hair, anytime Teddy, Victoire, Remus, and Dora left a place where they were visitors, Teddy, Remus, and Dora made their hair match Victoire's in a show of being together as a family.
Harry, Ginny, James, Albus, and Lily spent the rest of the afternoon happily flying outside in the backyard on their brooms and enjoying being a family.
