"We missed you!"
"I've wanted to see you!"
"I've missed you."
They all shouted. Everyone got a hug from Zoro, even a second one. Tears were being shed. As things were settling down they all turned to the only girl as she looked down, playing with the hem of her shirt as she sniffled.
"Yoko." Zoro says. She looks up, trying to hold her tears in but she couldn't. She ran and jumped into his arms.
"I..." she let her tears fall, "I wanted you to come back. I wished you would come back. But you never did. We needed you." She says holding onto Zoro. The green haired man lets out a sigh wrapping his arms around her. He's not going to say sorry. Even if he did know what happened, he still wouldn't have been able to visit. With his job at the pleasure club and taking care of Megumi he wouldn't have the time to come and visit. Maybe a small check in but nothing too long and he doesn't think they would want a small check in.
"I'm here now." Zoro says.
"I'm happy to see you." She says. Zoro looks over at Sanji and Megumi just watching the show. He smiles at them. Sanji smiles back but Megumi didn't seem happy.
"Daddy." She says. Sanji and Megumi turn to each other. "I don't like sharing mommy." She says with a seriousness you wouldn't expect from her. Sanji laughs at her. He pats her head.
"I don't either." Sanji says. Megumi nods. He understands.
"You both sound ridiculous." Zoro says still hugging the girl Yoko. He had no idea what they meant by 'share.' The kids turns their heads to Sanji and Megumi.
"I told you, Zoro is multiplying." One of the boys says.
"Hello." Sanji says while he waves his hand at them.
"H-hello." Megumi says shyly, not so comfortable with so many new eyes on her. Yoko is the first, she lets go of Zoro and goes to Megumi.
"Wow you really do look like Zoro. You even has his hair. so pretty." She says. Megumi smiles. She likes it when they compliment her, especially her hair, the hair she shares with her mother.
"It's like going back in time." Akihiro says.
"Almost like a twin." Another boy says. They all gathered around Megumi.
"What's your name?"
"M-Megumi."
"Guys calm down. Mama is making lunch, why don't you relax?" Zoro suggest grabbing Megumi. She held onto him close. There was so many people.
"Lunch! If Zoro's here can he make us those omelette sandwiches?" One asks.
"You know the omelette sandwich?" Megumi asks shocked.
"Yeah." They all nod. "Zoro use to make it for us sometimes."
"Please it's been so long?" one pleads.
"I don't know if we have a what I need for all of us." Zoro answers.
"It's okay, we just went shopping."
"With the bags you just dropped?" Sanji pointes out. They all turn and gather at them bags frantic and worried. After checking that the groceries they all let out a collective sigh.
"Please." They all turn to Zoro with pleading eyes.
"Why not? I just cut up some ingredients." Mama says letting them all see the counter she was at. They saw onions, bell peppers, tomatoes and some greens.
"Alright." He sets Megumi down. "I guess we're having omelette sandwich for lunch." He looks down at Megumi. "Why don't you play with the other kids?" He suggest. She gives him a hug.
"I wanna be with you mommy." She says looking up at him. Zoro smiles at her.
"You don't want to go play?" he asks.
"Wait! Mommy? Zoro she's your daughter?" One kid asks.
"Yes she is. She's why I left here." Zoro says. The girl, Yoko, walks up and grabs Megumi's hand.
"You can come with me to play. You don't want to be with boys anyway." She says.
"Hey! What wrong with playing with us?" One of the boys asks.
"She could play with us." One of the three boys from the same age group as Megumi says. They had no idea what all the commotion was about but the girl, Megumi seems to be around their age. Megumi nods at the boys, it is better to be with someone closer in age, she felt like the older kids were being forced to play with her. She knew from Sapphire that older kids don't like playing with the younger kids.
"Follow me," one of the younger boys says, the other two start following along with Megumi to the next room. With the four youngest kids gone the older ones started to leave too.
It was silent as Zoro cooked, mama sat down in front of Sanji. She stared at him, sizing him up before looking over at Zoro. Sanji saw her smile, happy to see the boy again. She knew she shouldn't be calling him that, he's got a family himself now but she will forever remember him as a little boy who looked like a girl and couldn't communicate well with others. She's happy to see him and the baby fine and healthy. Zoro did seem to be thicker than she remembered but who knew what happened since he left. Which reminded her. "Zoro how come you weren't accepted into the police academy?" she asked. Zoro slowed in his movements.
"Sorry mama," Zoro looks down in shame. "I lost the job you helped me get."
"What do you mean?" she asks.
"My boss learned that I was pregnant and fired me. After a while they put me on hold at the police academy. "
"What happened after?"
"I found a job." Zoro answers though hesitantly. She raised an eyebrow, the boy is acting suspicious. He did say he had a bad job but what could he have meant by that? "I got a job at a place called the pleasure club." he says. Sanji looked at Zoro curiously, he's heard Zoro and Megumi speak Japanese plenty of times before, that was not Japanese. Mama nods having understood what Zoro had said.
"You worked as a prostitute didn't you?" she asks, her expression sullen. Zoro nods but doesn't meet her gaze. "I know the place. They treat their workers fairly considering what the place is." Sanji could guess what they were talking about.
"I didn't have a choice. I was running out of options and needed to pay rent."
"It's okay Zoro, you had to do what you had to do. We can't change the past. Is that why you were rejected by the police academy?" Zoro could only nod as an answer. "Well you're fine now." she says with a smile. Zoro finally looks over at her, seeing warm smiling face made him smile too. She he doesn't care, she's not upset or judging him. He was worried she would but she's not. The green haired man looks over at his fiancé to see the blonde smiling at him with a thumbs up.
Everything is fine.
