Chapter 127

.

Note: D'Hoffryn is a character from "Buffy the vampire slayer." Lenin and John Brown are both historical figures.

.

When Robin Hood escaped from Hell he predicted that Lenin would take over the leadership of his group. He was right, but many of this army were still hesitant to trust Lenin, given that he had once been an agent of Evil. John Brown helped with that. Brown's name still carried a lot of respect, and trust. Brown had also been tortured, but he still refused to join Evil's army. They were fighting to overthrow a specific kingdom, founded by those from a world where the Confederacy had won the american civil war. This society was incredibly racist, slavery was still rempant, even a point of pride. This was one reason why so many of these individuals wound up in Hell. Instead of admitting their sins, trying to do better, they doubled down and established a new confederacy here in Hell. Some of their televangelists even claimed that it was God's will that slavery be legal, that only be enforcing their extreme racism, by capturing slaves from other kingdoms, could they earn their God's favor. Thus why John Brown and Lenin were leading the fight against this. But they were outnumbered, outgunned, on the verge of defeat. Lenin had the chance to ally with a powerful individual, but he feared some of his army would have a problem with this ally. He decided to talk to John Brown about this.

.

Lenin: We have the chance to ally with a powerful individual.

John: Who?

Lenin: The vengeance demon D'Hoffryn.

John: A vengeance demon? This sounds like a bad idea.

Lenin: We need help. Besides, you didn't seem oppossed to vengeance.

John: When it is properly applied. To those who deserve it, like those who would willingly own other people.

Lenin: Or those who would oppress the proletariet, force them to fight other oppressed peoples.

John: Perhaps. But what is this D'Hoffryn's ultimate goal?

Lenin: To establish his own mini-kingdom and have power.

John: And who is his vengeance directed against?

Lenin: Presumably his enemies. I have made similar deals in the past. When the great war started, the tsar and the kaiser were equally guilty, nevertheless the germans made me an offer. They would give me and my fellow bolshevicks money, provisions, safe passage through their territory. And in return, I would disrupt the russian war effort. I encouraged soldiers to dessert, workers to strike. I was well aware that they were using me to win their meaningless imperialist war. But I was also using them to get back to Russia and lead the revolution. The kaiser fully expected us all to be slaughtered, he just wanted us to cause as much trouble as possible for the russian war effort before we died. But we defied expectations, did we not?

John: Yes, you did. And despite my hatred for what you did to religious believers, you did much to abolish racism and anti-semitism. But I am still hesitant to ally with a demon.

Lenin: Did you not have to ally with people you didn't get along with?

John: Yes. I considered the quakers weak, but they were brave as conductors on the Underground Railroad. And, for our own failed revolution, we got funding from people who were too cowardly to actually fight. Still, what is to stop D'Hoffryn from working with our enemies?

Lenin: If we refuse this alliance, nothing. But you are right about one thing, we should not go into this alliance with rose colored glasses. I have put out feelers, people who have been allied with D'Hoffryn, and those who have been on the recieving end of his vengeance. But if I nevertheless decide to ally with him, can I count on your support my friend?
