Bulma noticed the floral scent as soon as her door slid open. She gasped at the sight before her. In the far right corner of her room was an amazing display. An enormous bouquet of lavender and pink heart-shaped flowers were gathered into a sparkling container of glittering cut crystal. She was fascinated by the lovely petals that curled into a perfect form of a heart. Where had Daiz found such an exotic arrangement? Swirls of delicate pink pearls were scattered on the bare floor in front of the array of blooms. They hadn't been deposited at random. The gems from the sea spelt out-"I Love You" in Galactic Standard.

Bulma sniffled. She'd never seen such a heartfelt, romantic display and was truly touched by the Kabochan's effort. Yamcha had NEVER...Her nails dug into her palms as renewed anger flooded through her. Both her parents, her friends AND Yamcha would still EXIST if it wasn't for Daiz and his compatriots! She couldn't allow this ploy to weaken her resolve...

Kquaralon Treatment Center- Main Lab:

After placing a blood sample from the young male Saiyan half-ling under the lens; the head medic leaned in as close as his eyestalks would permit. Did the magnification device he stared into really display what he thought he saw? Cells danced about wildly and suddenly it seemed that milky white bits of matter were rapidly forming and literally absorbing the dark violet cells that comprised the latest mutation of the virus...he sat up straight. This meant antibodies were forming that were actually combating the virus. Vacaliies sighed in disappointment as he watched the viral cells mutate once again. A sickly green replaced the violet and then.. The lobster-like lifeform whooped in excitement causing several of his constituents to give him an odd look.

"Excuse me for losing my professional bearing...but the procedure appears to be working! The antibodies formed by the adult Saiyan's blood are capable of combatting the virus thus far. It's mutated TWICE and the antibodies are STILL progressively destroying the viral cells!" Vacallies crowed.

A round of cheers resounded throughout the lab.

It suddenly made sense that Saiyans were so rarely affected by illness that would be catastrophic for other sentient beings. With their incredible biology what pathogens stood a chance?

...

Chi-Chi whispered soothingly as she wrapped her arms around the female half-blood. She gently stroked the child's hair and was surprised at how soft it was considering its spiky appearance. Kosho suddenly stiffened and pulled away.

"Commander Turles would not be pleased with such a display."

"It will be our little secret," Chi-Chi declared.

Kosho gave her a mischievous grin but said nothing.

At the sight of the head medic entering the room Chi-Chi stood up suddenly concerned for her son's welfare.

The alien was absolutely beaming!

"Ma'am, I am pleased to say that your son is making rapid improvement. His system is almost entirely free of the vir..."

"Vacaliies! You're needed in 24D immediately!" an orange reptilian aide interrupted.

As the crustacean medic wheeled about and dashed from the room without uttering another syllable both Chi-Chi and Kosho followed right on his heels.

Vacaliies rushed into 24D and was relieved to see his youthful charge in no apparent distress. On the other side of the room was an entirely different situation. A series of alarms were sounding around the adult Saiyan. A cluster of medical personnel were working feverishly around the pirate commander.

"WHAT HAPPENED?"

"We don't know, sir. All life readings were normal and then suddenly everything just stopped! We performed a full code and readings resumed but for some reason he's starting to fade again!" a yellow rodent in pale blue uniform stated in a feminine voice.

Chi-Chi heard Turles mumble something incoherent.

"Zailora!" Kosho affirmed.

Turles saw a strange white mist surrounding him and when the swirls dissipated he was in a desolate landscape but a most familiar figure stood a short distance away. Zailora! He was ready to break into a run when he saw her waving him away. Tears were streaming down her face and she was shaking her head. Turles stared at her in confusion as he greedily drank in the sight of her. Why didn't she want him to scoop her up in his arms as he desperately wanted to do? The Kabochan female was backing away as she sobbed even harder...

"Master Turles, you CANT leave! " Kosho cried out.

Chi-Chi's eyes welled up with tears. The monster that destroyed her planet, her way of life, murdered her husband and turned her only child into a replica of himself...

"I don't understand, Turles was so adamant about saving the boy and he's not responding to any of our efforts. It's as if Turles has just given up any desire to live," the head medic stated.

Goku's widow walked over to where the monitors clearly showed that the Saiyan pirate was steadily slipping away from existence. As much as she resented it, a bond had formed between her son and the despicable space simian. Gohan would be devastated if something were to happen to Turles. Even though the bile rose in her throat with every step Chi-Chi choked back a sob as she forced herself to stand by the hated planet marauder's side. Bending down and placing a hand on the Turles's chest, she forced herself to speak.

"Turles, Kosho needs you..."

Tears coursed down the Ox-Princess's face as she continued on, "G-Gohan needs you. You c-can't go away just yet."

The Pergashian/Saiyan stared incredulously at the mother of Gohan. She knew the Earth female despised Turles with every fiber of her being and yet here she was attempting to stop the pirate commander from fading away.

Turles lifted his head and listened. Someone had called his name...when he looked away momentarily a small smile appeared on Zailora's face. Emotion welled up in the Saiyan's chest. How he'd missed that smile! He heard the voice call him once more and he took a step back. Zailora was nodding her head and her smile grew wider. Another step back and the nobleman's daughter was blowing him kisses...

Vacaliies almost jumped as the monitors surrounding Turles suddenly began registering normal life readings once more. Chi-Chi stifled a gasp as she felt Turles squeeze her hand. He released her when she pulled away. Kosho threw her arms around the pirate in a most unSaiyan-like display. Surprisingly he returned the embrace and then cleared his throat. A beaming Kosho stood back obediently on the cue that the emotional behavior was to desist.

Chi-Chi looked across the room and she bolted to Gohan's beside immediately. Her son was sitting up and looking about.

"Mom?" he said in a scratchy voice.

Chi-Chi cried out in relief as she threw her arms around her son. Kosho vaulted onto the bed and squealed in delight.

"This behavior is highly inapprop-" one of the medical aides began.

"Leave them alone!" Vacaliies shouted.

The head medic looked on approvingly as the two youngsters chattered away gaily while his staff was removing the medical implements from both of his patients. After the pain and chaos Frieza's minions had caused he was going to enjoy this massive success and allow those personally involved to do so also...

Until the next chapter!
