Isaac had to remain indoors for nearly three more hours as every ship in the fleet was hosed down and checked for wisdom dust by the Kansens. As he sat there, Isaac could only wonder what he could have done differently to avoid this.
"Heavily modified Battleship drones. I didn't think they were capable of fielding something like that so quickly in response to a declaration of war. And if this is only the beginning, I need to figure out what I can do for my girls to keep them safe in the future. Maybe something like what happened with Eagle back then... maybe they all have some sort of ability when pushed to the brink..." Isaac wondered aloud.
"What are you mumbling about in there, Kommandant?" Odin's voice was heard through the door.
"It's nothing. Just ding some thinking." Isaac replied, not wanting to involve Odin just yet.
"Maybe... Maybe bombs aren't the only potential use for this wisdom dust. Elizabeth said that Bismarck seemingly opened a vortex on the battlefield on her way to New Guinea... She said the Purin told everyone that the dust reacts to strong wills, and will change it's function to fundamentally fit those ideals. I'll have to ask Bismarck... if the fleet will take me back. I did kind of lead them into this." Isaac said with a sigh as he got up and began wandering the ship. After a bit of wandering, Isaac found a small office onboard. Peeking inside, he saw a familiar book.
"My notebook? When did this get here?" Isaac asked as he walked inside, closing the door behind him. He picked up the book and opened it, seeing that Odin had kept up filling in logs since she joined the fleet. Her handwriting was sharp and precise, looking almost as if typed on a typewriter. Isaac smiled as he read it. The English wasn't the best, but the fact that a German Battleship was writing English at all meant she had already picked up a lot from being with him.
Isaac read a page dated the 22nd of October. A week and a half ago.
***Sorry again for using your book, Kommandant. But I figured I'd continue keeping a log here to help you keep time if you find this again. Let's see. Today is the 22nd of October. We just finished our trek from Fiji and are on our final approach to New Guinea. There seems to be a ship already here, it isn't modern by any stretch and it's kind of hard to make out the design. Definitely not Ironblood. Kommandant has been acting a bit weird as of late. I haven't known him to be so reckless, but maybe that's my imagination. I'll be keeping an eye on him just in case. He's spending all of his time aboard the Norfolk with that hologram girl. She looks like a Siren... or what I assume a siren would look like. But the Kommandant says that she is to be treated as our equal. Apparently the Union has not been kind to him. Maybe when this war is over, and all parties are satisfied, maybe I can convince Friedrich to get him to come to the Fatherland. I have no doubt someone of his talent would be welcome among the high ranks of the Ironblood Navy. I certainly wouldn't mind. Getting to see him everyday... even right now, makes me feel like I want to be here forever. Having someone who not only appreciates my design, my intellect, and my power, but also is easy on the eyes and has a charming personality? I might have to get in on his little wife circle he's got going.*** The page read.
"Is this when she started feeling something for me outside of a professional standpoint?" Isaac asked himself as he flipped through a few pages to a page dated four days earlier.
"I remember four days ago. That's when we left New Guinea." Isaac said as he sat in the plump leather chair that was sat behind the desk.
***October 30th. Isaac gave me a ring. I am now officially a wife to my Kommandant. Procedures be damned, I am happy with this development. With Nimi back with us, I am happy to see Isaac doing a bit better in the mental health department. But any good things Nimi brought by coming back, were smashed to bits by whatever anger had consumed Isaac after we caught Oceana. It was bad enough that I am going to give the order to execute all siren elites on sight as opposed to allowing Isaac to oversee them. As his wife, I cannot sit by and allow him to torture himself with things like that. Other than that, Norfolk has gotten a physical body, which has helped a bit in making her look less like a Siren. Bismarck, Head-apparent of Ironblood has arrived with Queen Elizabeth and several more. Isaac is talking more and more about splitting the fleet to protect the islands we traveled to. I don't think it's a bad idea, but I wished he would have had me do it instead of giving it to Norfolk. I have a better knowledge of fleet composition, but I guess since I'm going to surprise him tonight, it was a stroke of good luck. We leave tomorrow night. So I'm going to give it my all.*** The page read.
"Saucy. Completely different from how she acts normally. Maybe that's just how she is. She hides her true feelings until she's sure nobody else will see. So cute." Isaac whispered as he came to a blank page. He smiled and picked up a pen.
***November 2nd, 1945. It's been a while since I've updated this thing. But with how easy it was for Odin to pick it up, It might not be a bad idea to pass it around the fleet and let everyone do some writing. I'd like to hear what everyone says behind closed doors. All that aside... we lost today. The enemy came at us with a hostage and brand new drones designed to trump my fleet. While we managed to save Hood, we lost so much in that pursuit. Elizabeth is now without a ship... and I'm sure she's pretty upset with me. But her being upset is the least of my worries. Most of the fleet is damaged, some very seriously. Texas is missing turrets. Penny has extensive fire damage. The Missouri has seen better days, so has her crew. 30 dead, about 200 injured. And Bremerton... she just got her vessel back, and yet, she took a shell to the bridge. Everyone else confirmed that she was present on the bridge when that shell detonated. Vestal hasn't been heard from as she is currently looking over Bremerton exclusively. I can't imagine how hard Baltimore is taking this. And by extension Atago. Speaking of, looking at her, she lost a torpedo launcher and her third forward turret. Laffey lost one of her torpedo launchers. Friedrich... I'm confident she'll say she's fine, but seeing all those shell holes in the deck really makes me wonder. There has to be at least 12 tons of lead inside of her vessel. Eagle is going under for repairs to her flight deck. Even with the armor underneath, those shells punched right through. Many more are in need of help for burns and grazes. Australia has been a huge help, she's actually towing Friedrich back to port, which is a monumental task. Patty went back out to search for 556. After seeing her bravery in the face of that... I'd be remiss if I didn't welcome her to the fleet, and smooth everything over with the other girls...*** Isaac wrote as he looked around the office.
The air was stuffy and hot. Like the air had stopped flowing throughout the ship.
"Odin is probably getting hosed down, so they closed the vents to ensure none of that stuff gets inside." Isaac said as he continued writing.
***The worst thing yet, is the introduction of wisdom dust to the battlefield. The Sirens loaded down the Hood with barrels of the stuff, and when she went up, she took out nearly 100 of those new drones in a single explosion. We are still feeling the effects of the blast and the fallout. I'm just glad that the fallout is sticking mainly to the ocean. If this fallout hit land, Akashi's predicament will be nothing when compared.*** Isaac finished as a knock came to the door.
"Kommandant? Are you in here?" Odin's voice called.
"Yeah. I'm here." Isaac said as he slipped the journal into his jacket.
"The deck has been washed down. It's safe for you to come out now." Odin said as she opened the door, seeing Isaac with the journal.
"Ah, good you found it. It has been in here for a while, so I took the liberty of watching it for you." Odin said.
"I see you've taken the liberty of keeping up with it too. In fact, ever since the day you three joined me." Isaac said as Odin blushed and ran at him.
"Give me the book!" Odin cried as Isaac held her back.
"Nope. It's in here now. And I read it all." Isaac said.
"All of it?" Odin asked as her blush grew more.
"Pretty raunchy stuff, Odin..." Isaac said as he looked at her.
"It... IT'S NOT MY FAULT! You...made me like this." Odin said, her emotions going wild as she tried to justify the words written in the book.
"Well, let's get going. I'm sure I have a lot to answer to the fleet for." Isaac said as Odin followed him above deck.
