(After 'The Secret in the Siege')

Thank you for reviewing my story. I appreciate it.

I don't own Bones.

Ooooooooooooooo

Watching the cadaver dog lie down on a suspected grave, Agent Lester Brown made a quick notation in his notebook about the location of the spot and nodded at the dog handler. "Three so far. This is bad."

Aware that her dog Tutti still had work to do, Maggie Magregor pushed a red flag in the dirt once her dog moved out of the way, hugged Tutti and continued the search. "It's probably going to get worse."

A movement towards his left catching his attention, Lester placed his notebook in his jacket pocket and turned to face the three men walking towards him. "I'm going to have to ask you to leave the area, Sir. This is a crime scene."

"May I see some identification?" Jean Landry waited patiently, hoping the young man standing in front of him would comply.

Retrieving his ID from his jacket, Lester held it up for the strangers to see. "Special Agent Lester Brown. You can go back the way you came, that will be fine."

"Are you in charge here?" Jean was on a mission and he wasn't going to be sent away before he knew what was going on.

"May I ask who you are, Sir?" Lester didn't like the way the two men on either side of his questioner kept their hands near their waist. That was a bad sign that things could go wrong quickly.

Quickly removing a business card from his wallet, Jean handed it to Lester. "If you are not in charge, I would like to speak to whoever is."

"I see." Handing the card back to Jean, Lester pointed to his right. "Go through these woods, it will take you to the street. Agent Seeley Booth is coordinating this operation from his SUV in front of a red brick house with crime scene tape across the front yard."

Tutti had laid down again and Lester jotted down a quick note in his notebook. Waving at Maggie, he watched her place a red flag into the ground, praise her dog and continue the search.

Jean had his suspicions about what was going on, but he decided he'd wait until he'd talked to the man in charge. With his men behind him, he walked through the woods, stepped out onto a street that had been roped off and barricaded to stop thru traffic and searched the area for Booth. Spotting a tall man standing next to an SUV, Jean assumed he had found the agent. Once he was near the man, he called out. "Agent Seeley Booth?"

"Yeah, that's me." Booth looked up from his notebook and spied three men approaching him. "This is a restricted area. I'm going to have to ask you to leave."

"I need some answers first. My name is Jean Landry and I work at the French Embassy. We noticed the activity in the woods behind our compound and I felt we should be told what is going on." Jean noticed the yellow tape around the yard behind Booth and knew that this was probably worse than he had first suspected.

Impressed with Jean's English, Booth knew that ordering the man to leave without answers wasn't going to happen. "The house behind me is a crime scene. So are the woods across the street. I'm not at liberty to tell you more than that at this time. Once we've wrapped up our investigation, I'll be able to give you an explanation."

Annoyed, Jean looked at the house for a moment and decided that if the FBI was investigating a crime at a house and the woods nearby then this was probably a case that the French Embassy shouldn't be involved with. "I see. I am a policeman in my country and I am sure you are investigating something very serious. I will leave you to your tasks and I will not interfere. I am certain that this has nothing to do with our embassy. Keep in mind that embassy property extends beyond our walls. If you must dig up the soil then please call me and let me know out of courtesy before you do it. We have sensors that will set off alarms if anyone approaches the walls and that could cause unnecessary anxiety amongst my people."

"I'll let my people know to let you know." Booth took the business card that Jean handed him. "I'll give you a call when I can and let you know what's going on."

"That is all I ask, Agent Booth." Jean motioned for his men to turn around and they walked back to the woods to the back gate to the embassy. As Jean passed Lester, he pointed at Tutti who was now lying on another suspected grave. "I feel you will be very busy for quite a while. My condolences."

Making more notes in his notebook, Lester nodded his head. "Yeah, thanks." Once Jean and his men were gone, the agent called out to Maggie. "You know Tutti can stop finding bodies now. I wouldn't mind at all."

Amused, Maggie laughed. "I'll bet you wouldn't."

Oooooooooooooo

Seven bodies were found in the woods and Cam and Brennan returned to help supervise the removal of the bodies. They brought Clark Edison with them to help with the excavations, since there was no guarantee that these were the only bodies they were going to have to deal with.

With the help of several FBI techs, Hodgins searched for anything that wasn't normally found in the woods. They collected dirt from the graves once the bodies were found and looked for any evidence that might have been left behind when the bodies were buried. Hodgins pointed out that every victim he had seen so far had been wrapped in a cotton sheet. "They're cheap sheets you can buy in any dollar store or big box store. They won't be much help to us unless the killer left some of his own blood or sweat behind."

Booth stood near an open grave and observed Brennan carefully preparing the body to be removed. "Got any idea how long this body has been here?"

Hodgins looked up from the emptied grave next to Brennan's work area and answered the question. "I've looked at three of the gravesites so far and two of the victims may have been buried at least four or five years ago. The third one was buried about a year ago. I'll have to run tests to confirm the exact age of the burials. Remember, that's just a guess until my tests are done." Hodgins threw that in for Brennan's benefit since he knew she hated for him to guess about dates and time.

"So, whoever the killer is has been active for a while." Booth glanced at his watch. "Bones, I'm going to call Angela and see if she can get Christine out of Day Care. If she can't watch her, I'll call Mrs. Moore and see if she can babysit."

"Alright." Brennan knew this was going to be a long day. "When you get an opportunity, I would like a small salad or an avocado sandwich. A large of cup of coffee would also be welcome."

Hungry, Cam stood up and stretched her back. "Seeley, I think we could all do with something to eat and drink."

His stomach rumbling, Booth knew it was past time to eat. "Lester, find out what everyone wants to eat and go get it." Stepping away from the graves, Booth called Angela.

Angela Montenegro.

"Angela, it looks like we're going to be here for quite a while. Can you go get Christine from Day Care? If you can't watch her, I can make arrangements for my neighbor Mrs. Moore to baby sit." Booth noticed the body that Cam had been preparing for removal was now being lifted from the grave and wheeled out to the street where a van was waiting to collect the bodies.

I can watch her. No problem. Have you received a copy of the autopsy done on Robert Hann yet? Or the police report?

"I don't know, I haven't been to my office today." Booth glanced at Lester to see what he was doing. "Look, let me call Harris and have him look through my mail on my desk. If it's there, he can make copies and bring them to you. I'd like you to compare the autopsy with the police report and see what you think."

Sure, not a problem. You'll have to let Brennan and Cam look at the autopsy report to see what they say, but I can at least look for inconsistencies between the two reports.

"Thanks Angela." The call ended, Booth called Harris and let him know what he wanted him to do.

Are you going to cancel your vacation?

"It's going to be delayed that's for sure." Booth knew this case was too big to hand over to Lester and Harris was preparing to transfer to Indianapolis. "Fairburn would bust an artery if I took off next week."

Yeah, well maybe you can go once you wrap this one up.

Staring at the graves that were in his line of sight, Booth knew this was going to be a complicated case. "We've found seven graves in the woods across the street from the house. Maggie is letting Tutti look over the backyard and the basement of the suspect's house. We may have more than these seven bodies to deal with. I need you to go and pick up the owner of the house and hold him at the Hoover. The last thing I need is for him to hear about what's going on here and run. I have a meeting with Caroline at five and we'll probably interview him afterward."

Can do.

The call ended Booth placed his phone in his jacket pocket.

Lester was now standing next to him with his notebook open. "What do you want to eat?"

After he placed his order, Booth handed him his credit card. "Get a receipt so I can be reimbursed. If you forget to get the receipt I'll make you pay for it."

"Claire would skin me alive, if I had to pay for everyone's lunch." Lester dropped Booth's credit card in his wallet. "I hope Maggie's dog doesn't find any more bodies."

"You and me both." Booth witnessed the body Clark had been examining lifted from the grave and wheeled away. "I'm no expert, but most of these victims look like teenagers to me."

Exhaling, Lester nodded his head. "Yeah, to me too."

Oooooooooooooooo

Let me know what you think of my story. Thank you.
