She'd dipped her head slightly, but beneath blonde bangs Kyo saw a knowing smile.

"Perhaps, but that's not really up to you."

Once again, she had surprised him. Despite a frustrating penchant for nonsensical chatter, her perceptiveness could not be underestimated. Truly the protector of underdogs, she had indiscriminately come to Kyoshiro's defense.

It never occurred to him that a boy he'd considered his equal would have revered him. Although, it would explain why they had always ended up with the same... stuff.

"Clearly, he was an idiot," Kyo concluded.

"Totally agree. You ain't all that."

He glowered. She smirked.
