Chapter 148

.

When Chase Graves made his alliance with general Gardner, he had hoped to prevent attacks like this one. He contacted the general, not happy with this turn of events.

.

Chase: We had an agreement.

Gardner: And I have honored it. I assure you that this despicable attack on your world was not my doing. If any of my officers were responsible, I will turn them over to your courts

Chase: What could we frighten someone with if they've already been to Hell.

Gardner: Fair point. I don't know who was responsible.

Chase: I believe you. But if you can't produce results, my friends will not keep supplying you with weapons.

Gardner: What do they expect me to do, expand my territory, bring more people under my rule. I'd like that, but I don't have the resources for that.

Chase: And we're not going to supply you with more weapons if you can't produce results.

Gardner: And where would that leave us exactly?

Chase: There might be a middle ground. Some of my allies are in these countries. They felt it was in their best interest to curb the flow of immigration. Now, many of them lost loved ones in these attacks. They're willing to make exceptions to their immigration laws to get those loved ones back.

Gardner; I can't guarantee which of the dead wound up here, or which went to Heaven. Even if they came to Hell, they might not neccessarily be in my terrotory.

Chase: But you could make deals with the leaders of these other kingdoms?

Gardner: It's possible, yes. And I assume that, of I could arrange for some to go back to Earth, it would prove that I could get results?

Chase: It would definitely help, yes.

Gardner: I can't make any promises. But send me the names, and I'll see what I can do.
