Sonic Forces - Sonamy Angst

Rebellion brings more than allies…
When she won't yield.
*Warning: High Amounts of AU.
Sonic glared her down, looking up and seeing her hesitate on an order.
She looked down from the burning building, and then slowly angled her body to her friends.
She gritted his teeth, stepping forward in front of the teams, "… she's going to get herself killed!" he almost growled out, and looked back up at her.
"AMY!"
She continued her stare, her neutral expression dipping into a more sorrowful conviction.
She wasn't going to allow him to treat her this way.
And if the others weren't going to call him out on how he's been ruling over them like a reckless tyrant, she was.
He didn't turn his glare either.
"Come down…"
She didn't move.
"NOW!"
"Sonic! You can't just-!" Tails finally stepped forward, running to him with a loving expression, knowing what Amy was doing was direct rebellion, but still saw her as a friend.
"Get back in line, Tails!" Sonic almost roared in his anger, and Tails flinched back, looking into each one of Sonic's eyes before also narrowing his eyes.
"…Amy, this is suicide." he ignored Tails and looked back up at Amy, as her dress blew lightly int he wind with her hair.
"You're not going out there on your own. And you can't possibly think anyone can do this on their own!" he swiped his hand out.
"NOW GET DOWN."
She stepped her feet a bit to position the angle of her body.
But this time, she tilted her head up.
"….Don't." he almost growled out, his fists tightening.
"You."
She narrowed her eyes, tightening her face in defiance.
"Dare…"
Suddenly, the Sonic Forces soundtrack started playing as she wiped her head out and started walking along the building, away from the teams.
Her actions made the others stared, shocked she would defy someone she loved so much.
His eyes turned to a fury that was wild, much like an animals. He twitched with 'tsks' and 'urks' before charging up and going after her.
"SONIC, NO!" Tails cried out, as he spun up and smashed off other buildings, before scaling up the building to homing attack straight into her.
She had already anticipated his wild assault, and swung her hammer out, looking she was going to swipe at air before Sonic's body spun into view and she had already swung, negating his advance.
She had swung a homerun as he flew all the way back down to the teams, tumbling, crashing, and skidding all along it till he unrolled fully and fell to his face, leaning an arm up to try and get himself back up.
The teams all stared…
Shadow turned to Amy.
"She's trying to start a revolution." he commented, as Sonic at first looked crushed. His mouth hung open as he breathed heavily, his eyes searched for understanding within a what appeared to be heartbreaking betrayal.
But hearing Shadow's comment made his head shot up, and with the same returning anger, he slammed his fists on the ground, and reeled himself up, shouting out a command.
"GGGGEETTT HHHHEERRRR!"
Not denying his command, the others looked to eachother before charging after her.
She fought well, but they had surrounded her soon enough, and now their was a mini-arena for the two to spar, as Sonic walked into the mist of the crowd, and revealed himself as she tried to look for an opening.
"…Why." he tightened his grip on his fists, glaring. "Why are you doing this!?"
"You won't listen. You've lost who you are! And now, you're taking your anger and revenge out on all of us!" she gestured to the other teams around her, as they all looked guilty of having let Sonic get away with abusing their friendships.
Sonic was fury was at it's wits ends.
"Do you hear anyone else complaining?" he gestured his arms out, "ANYONE!?"
They all remained silent.
"You've lost a lot, Sonic! We sympathized with you! but now, look at you! You intimidate instead of encourage. You command instead of working together. And you say no one person can win this war, then why do you try!?"
The teams all started to raise their heads, looking like they were getting courage to rebel too.
"We have a common enemy, Sonic. Don't become another one."
Tails turned to Amy, then walked towards her, and stood in front of the two.
"Sonic, she's right. We were willing to help you at first. Now… we just want our friend back!" he looked hurt saying it, but showed with great heart that he meant what he said.
Knuckles stepped out too, "She's right, Sonic."
Sonic swiped his head to him, his shoulders bouncing in his anger.
"Not you too."
"You're a jerk, Sonic. A tyrant king. Worse than Eggman ever could be." Knuckles swiped his fists down, a threat to keep back, and then walked to guard Amy as well.
Suddenly, more and more team members started to fall back, guarding Amy from Sonic's anger.
"You… you all… you're all traitors!" Sonic gripped his head, looking torn as he didn't see anything wrong with how he was leading. "You're going to doom this world with you in it!"
"You're condemning yourself, Sonic." Amy stood boldly, a fierce look of a natural born leader in it.
"I can't let you ruin yourself… or our friends." She took on a look of pity, and that snapped something inside of Sonic.
"You… you're the one… the one whose been screwing up everything! I'm trying to save the world! And you're here, trying to reform me!?"
She glared.
"That's it. I don't need any of you! I just need to correct my own wrong. I get it now. Way to take everything away from me, Amy."
Amy turned her head away, showing the pain of his words.
"Heh. But then again… you're just good at making my life difficult, aren't you?" he stretched out his hands, smirking and then starting to walk away. "Guess your actions speak louder than worthless vows, huh, Amy?"
His last sentence was like a snake's poison, colder than an icy peak, and sharper than any known blade…
She leaned her head up, her eyes widening.
"As if you ever knew love…"
She let out a battlecry and raced passed her guarded structure of teammates and friends, and charged him.
"Something doesn't feel right…" Silver looked more closely to Sonic's face as he slightly turned it back towards them, over his shoulder.
He was smirking.
"AMY! He was luring you!" Silver tried to warn, as Sonic kicked back and the two began to brawl.
"Sonic!" Tails leaned forward, but was held back by Knuckles.
"Are you crazy!? They gotta settle this on their own." Knuckles looked to the two, seeing how no one was holding back a punch, but also noticed how hurt each of their faces were.
"…This is how they're talking it out." he admitted.
"I know the feeling…" he looked back at Rouge, who folded her arms and looked sorrowfully down and away.
He frowned, before letting Tails go and moving back, going to her. "Hey…" he scratched behind his head, looking away for a moment as she looked up, surprised he came back.
And smiled, lowering her eyelids. "Hey."
The two duked it out under the careful supervision of the teammates, before they got so worn out they pulled back, and both were bending down, breathing hard, and the flames consuming most of the oxygen.
"I don't get." Sonic suddenly spoke up. "If I was such a bother, why didn't anyone tell me?"
"Cause they worried you'd do this, Sonic. You'd assert fake dominance just so you could play hero again." she gestured to everyone before bending to her knees, trying to hold herself up. "You've grown hatred in your heart, Sonic. And with each passing day, you hurt more and more of us by striping freedom away. The very thing you fight for you're taking from everyone else! You're compensating when you think you've fully lost,… and you've lost it Sonic."
He looked up into her eyes.
"You've lost our respect."
He bit down on his teeth again, before looking to his teammates… and suddenly seeing how much pain he caused them.
He looked into each of their eyes.
He stepped back, his face melting into shame, and turning away from them.
"I… what have I done…?"
"You've lost yourself. And by doing so, you've lost our regards." Amy slowly stood up, regaining strength. "Oh, Sonic…" she shook her head, taking on a more breathy, and desperate voice.
"Where have you gone?"
"Away… I just wanted… I just wanted to defeat him quickly… bring things back to the way their suppose to be!" he shook out his head and thrust an arm down.
"Amy… Tails… Knuckles.. Everyone…" his head fell.
"I'm so sorry."
The team suddenly smiled.
"I can imagine if you can't forgive me… I'll take whatever punishment you want to dish out on me… but for now…" he turned around, being much more sincere and losing his anger. "For now, let's just survive till this thing is done! If you want…" he looked to Amy, then the team, before gesturing to her. "Amy can be your leader! Clearly, that's what you all want, anyway…" he looked away, hurt to say it, but knowing she was the only one to take him head on.
"I'm sorry." He looked up again, admitting his wrongs. "I'm not the greatest hero this world has… but I'm lucky I'm not the only one."
The teams nodded, and suddenly cheered.
The next few months, Sonic was put on cleaning duty, unable to fight every battle, and forced to obey others orders.
Tails led over strategy, Knuckles was more the fieldwork, and Amy played distraction for most rounds.
They were winning!
"Great job out there, Knuckles! Rouge! You were amazing! Nice job! Shadow~ Keeping the heat! Amy!"
She stopped, turning around in surprise and curiosity at what he was going to say.
He was slowly coming back to his old self, having let power and control get the best of him through his negative feelings, so to speak. But now he was zipping around, darting to each friend, and complimenting them on a hard day's work done.
".. Is that a new headband?" he gestured, bending a bit and lifting his big toe up, fashionably.
"Y-yes. It is! The last one got pretty damaged so…" Amy rubbed her new headband, before smiling fondly to Sonic. "Thanks for noticing!"
"No problem. Looks good on ya." he winked, before darting off. "See ya!"
"W-wait!" she outstretched her hand to him, as he halted and lowered his leg, almost having gone out of earshot.
"What's up…" he looked much more gently to her. "Amy?"
There was a moment of silence…
Amy looked around, before seeing a pen on the ground.
It was close enough for her to reach… but…
"Could you get me that pen?" She pointed down below.
He looked down at it, and raised an eyebrow.
Walking moderately over to it, he reached down, and slowly rose back up to come just a few inches close to her, and opened his hand to reveal the pen.
"…This pen?"
They were so close…
His smile didn't leave his face.
She wasn't sure if he was playing or understanding her invitation to come closer.
"…Thank you." she ducked her head, and took it from his palm.
He lowered his eyelids as she did so, before looking up at his name being called.
"Sonic! We need you on scout duty! Amy-! O-oh, you're right there. Ehem. You're blazing the way this time. Over and out, everyone!" Tails clanged his hand to the clipboard, before seeing the pen in Amy's hand.
"Oh, thank you. I've been looking for that." he plucked it out of her frozen hand and didn't even act like he noticed how close the two were.
"See ya on the field."
"Heh, looks like we're partnering up." Sonic turned back to Amy, not even attempting to move away. "Wouldn't mind if I saved your life once or twice… do you?" he grinned.
"….If you insist~" Amy flirted, smiling and then slightly giggling as she leaned away.
"I guess that means you'll have to stay…" he put an arm around her.
"Close."
He pulled her closer, winking.
She turned her head away, but flickered her eyelashes shyly up to him.
"Don't play coy with me, I know you're loving this." he teased, letting her go and drop slightly as he walked away, shaking his head. "Amateur."
"Ah!" she dropped her jaw at his words, rebalancing herself and charging after him, jumping on his back.
"Why you-! AHH! haha!"
He pulled her more up and held her legs, piggyback style, winking an eye shut and chuckling as he took off.
She laughed as the others looked at the two racing by.
"We'll be heading out first!"
"It's amazing." Rouge shook her head, folding her arms. "How fast that girl can forgive him."
"Then again… haven't we forgiven him?" Shadow turned back to her, as she smiled and sighed to him.
"After all the things that boy did to us, then how he treated her just a little while ago… I'll admit, he's turned over a new leaf. But it seems so…"
"Sudden?"
"Yes."
"Maybe she had something more to do with that. After all, she did give him a pretty hard time when he first started working around the base." Shadow gestured a hand out. "Perhaps, for one, he actually had to work at getting her to like him once more." he folded his arms and then stepped away.
Rouge smirked at the notion, "I think you may be on to something, Shadow. How observant of you."
"Hmph. Sorta like how I noticed you and Knuckles getting friendly behind stone walls as well."
"W-WHAT? WHY YOU SNEAKY LITTLE PEEP! Get back here and face me like a man!" she twitched an eye and shook a fist up, racing after him. "SHADOW!"
