Jeremy's POV

Oh god oh god oh god! She passed out!

"Chloe!" I shook her. "Wake up!"

"What the hell are you doing?!" Derek roared.

Derek and Elijah burst through the bathroom doorway and Derek was outraged. He grabbed me by my arm and yanked me out of the shower and into the wall. Derek's hand closed around my neck and his other fist curled and he punched. I could feel the drywall crack as my head hit it.

"Derek!" Elijah growled.

Derek landed another hit before he got in my face. Eyes full of rage.

"What did you do to her?!" He roared.

"Derek!" Elijah shouted but Derek didn't hear him, his focus was me.

"Nothing!" I answered.

He didn't like that answer. Derek landed another hit to my jaw and shouted the question again. Again I said I didn't do anything to her. And again he didn't believe me and struck me. My vision went blurry for a quick second and I slid down onto the floor. Elijah shoved him back against the counter.

"Derek!" Elijah practically had to scream over him. "Take her."

He'd wrapped her in a towel and was holding her. Derek took her and left the bathroom.

"Tell me what happened," Elijah growled. He was pissed off too.

"How did you know?" I asked holding my soaking wet sleeve to my nose to stop the bleeding.

"My magic," he answered arms crossed. He was trying to hide that he was shaking. "Now what happened."

"She… she uh came in here to shower and I heard a thud so I came to see if she was okay and she screamed in pain so I came in and she was bleeding like a lot, from the mouth. She just kept screaming in pain, I don't know if she could hear me or not. I didn't know what to do to help, I don't know what's injured. Then she just passed out cold."

Elijah didn't say anything in response, he just walked out. I followed. Derek had set her down under the blankets on a bed. He was shaking her gently trying to get her to wake up.

"Derek," Elijah spoke softer this time. "Shaking her won't do anything, be rational."

He walked up to the bed, I stayed about three beds away, afraid of Derek attacking me again. Elijah put a shaky hand in front of her lips.

"Check if she's breathing," he said then put two fingers to her neck. "Now check her heart rate. That's all we can really keep doing until she wakes up. We don't know if she's got internal bleeding or a concussion so stop shaking her."

Elijah put a lot of aggression on the 'stop shaking her.'

I dared to step closer and Derek heard it. He shot up from the bed growling.

"Derek!" Elijah snapped. "He didn't do this. Stop it."

"Yes he did," Derek growled. "He attacked her."

He took a step in my direction and Elijah got in between us.

"No I didn't, something happened to her," I said.

"It's not his fault the infection finally took hold while we happened to be gone," Elijah was trying so hard to keep a calm voice.

Derek glared at me then turned his attention back to Chloe. He sat down on the bed and grabbed her hand so tight I thought it was going to break.

"Get some ice on that before your eye swells shut," Elijah commanded me.

I nodded and walked up front to try to find an ice pack in the small fridge. As I found one and placed it over my right eye, the girls came walking in with the laundry. Everything in Emma's hands fell to the ground as she saw my bloodied and beaten face.

"What happened?!"

"Relax!" I said quickly, concerned about Tess getting worked up. "Elijah's got it under control. Something happened to Chloe and Derek attacked me for it."

Tess gasped and tossed her armful of clothes at a bed as she went to the bed where Chloe was.

"Are you okay?" Emma pulled my ice pack away to assess the damage.

"I'll be fine, its her I'm worried about. She was bleeding and screaming. Emma, I felt so helpless I didn't know what to do to help her. She just passed out."

Emma gave me the ice pack back and I put it against my face.

"I don't think anyone would know what to do in that situation," she said. "There probably wasn't anything you could do."

Emma took my free hand and walked me to everyone else. We got within a few feet before Derek started growling again.

"For the last time, he didn't do anything," Elijah was sitting on the bed on the opposite side of Derek, Chloe in between them.

He was losing his patience. Tess, who was standing next gently massaged his shoulders, trying to calm him down.

"What happened to her?" Tess asked.

Chloe's POV

It felt like it was a million degrees in here. Why was it so hot? Wait where was here? I tried to think of the last thing I could remember when a soft cloth touched my forehead. My eyes shot open and smacked the hand away as hard as I could.

"Hey whoa whoa take it easy," Derek said softly, setting the cloth down.

I looked around to find my bed surrounded by everyone. They all had looks of relief.

"What happened?" I asked, throat as dry as sandpaper.

I tried to sit up by Elijah put a gentle hand on my shoulder and shook his head. I realized his hand was touching my bare skin, was I not wearing anything but the blankets?

"What happened?" I asked again.

"You were coughing up blood and screaming in pain," Derek said. "I hoped you could tell us what happened."

I picked through my foggy brain for a minute before I could remember it.

"I don't know why," I said. I remembered it now, the pain flaring through me for no reason. But I didn't know where it came from. The only thing I could think of was it was the werewolf or vampire coming back but I wasn't about to suggest that in front of everyone.

Derek opened his mouth to say something but Tess stepped in.

"Don't push her for answers," she said firmly.

I noticed Emma out of the corner of my eye gripping her cast forcefully. She must still be able to smell the blood.

"Not to be awkward but can I get dressed please," I said.

They nodded and started walking away to give me privacy. I think it made Derek nervous to leave my side after what happened but he understood that I needed clothing.

"Hey Emma, could you grab my bag?" I asked her as I sat up, holding the blanket against me.

She nodded and brought it over to me, setting it on the bed beside me.

"Hey are you ok?" I asked her, keeping my voice low.

I grabbed out a set of pajamas, Emma turned her back so I could dress. She laughed and shook her head.

"You just went through all that and you're asking me if I'm ok?"

I sat back down on the bed and patted the spot next to me, she sat too.

"Em, you're hanging onto that cast for dear life. You're going to break it. Talk to me, you can still smell it can't you? You're hungry."

She nodded.

"Then-"

Emma immediately cut me off sharply, "No. Chloe don't do it."

Emma's 'no' caught the other's attention and they started walking back.

Quickly I said, "That's not what I was going to suggest." Before they walked up.

Derek slid in between my back and the wall and pulled me back against his chest, wrapping his arms around me he let out a sigh.

"How are you feeling?" Elijah asked.

I shrugged, distracted by the growl coming from Derek as Jeremy came up to Emma.

"Would you stop it already," Elijah growled.

I was clearly missing something here. Why was Derek angry? Why did Jeremy look like he'd gotten the snot beaten out of him? Did I do that to him?
