Unova Part 4
Ash and his friends finally arrive at Nacrene City, and Lillie is amazed at all the artwork on display.
"The Nacrene City is well known as the city of art and admiration because of the way the citizens essentially use their buildings as canvases."
"And it will be great to have a gym battle here." Ash says.
"If you want to check out the gym, it is in the City's museum." Iris says.
However, when they arrive there is a sign outside informing them that the museum is closed. Ash tries to see if anyone is inside when Cilan notices a poster for a new exhibit that was scheduled to open that day. Ash knocks on the door once more and a man is heard screaming from inside the museum.
The man introduces himself as Haws, and he says that he was being chased by a Dome group finds the story to be a little bizarre, and inside they investigate only to find that the Fossil is back on its display.
"Are you sure you were being chased?" Ash asks, and Haws insists it.
Hawes explains that the night before, he and the staff finished setting up the secret artefacts exhibit late at night. He had stayed behind to make sure everything was in order before the grand opening when the lights went out, and when he made his way to the light switch he heard footsteps and sobbing. A flame then appeared and chased him out of the museum. The next morning he returned to the museum with the rest of the staff but they found nothing out of the ordinary, but he postponed the opening of the exhibit until the haunting was resolved to protect guests. When the rest of the staff left, he went back inside which is when he was chased by the Dome Fossil, and met Ash and his friends.
"Maybe the evil spirit is putting a curse on the museum…" Iris says.
"I guess not. There has to be a scientific explanation." Cilan says.
"We don't know anything unless we see it, besides, your wife is the gym leader, right?" Ash asks, and he nods, he also tells them that she is on a business trip.
As they look inside the museum, Lillie, Golly and Ash notice the mask that is similar of a Yamask's mask in the glass case. "This looks very real if you ask me."
Hawes says, "It's a replica of a mask held by the Pokémon Yamask, I was surprised that it looks very actual as well."
Then with nothing to find out, they decide to stay at night in the museum so that they will be able to find out what is going on. But just as they are about to sleep, suddenly a dark mist appears.
"Maybe the spirit is trying to do something..." Iris says.
"No, I think it must be the ventilation system..." Cilan says.
As a suit of armor appears, Cilan is convinced it's merely low frequency waves, until the suit draws its sword and he claims it's being controlled by strings like a puppet. Regardless, Ash has Pikachu use Quick Attack which causes the suit of armor to fall apart. It then reassembles itself, so Pikachu strikes it with Volt Tackle which dismembers the suit of armor yet again and releases a flame from inside. It then chases Hawes around the room and Ash calls out his Oshawott and orders it to use Water Gun. The head of the suit then reanimates itself and chases after Hawes, so Ash has Pikachu take care of it once and for all with Iron Tail.
"Okay, that was not normal." Lillie says as she also feel that it is raining inside, Cilan, however, dismisses the phenomena as a problem with the sprinklers.
It stops raining after only a few seconds and sobbing is suddenly heard coming from the next room. Golly says, "I think I might know the problem..."
As they check out the mask of Yamask, it is crying. As Cilan tries to explain how it's producing tears, the mask levitates and starts bashing itself against the glass. When the Dragonite skeleton also becomes animated, Cilan concludes that he cannot explain this one. As Dragonite begins punching the glass of the display, Cilan sends out his Pansage and has it use Bullet Seed which causes the skeleton to fall apart, as well as produce a strange cry.
Hawes opens the display to check the condition of the mask when it suddenly flies across the room and places itself on Cilan's face and takes control of him.
"Of course. It is an Evil Spirit!" Iris yells.
"I guess not, if I want to guess, it might be the Yamask." Golly says. "And it must be angry at the fact that the mask was being confined."
"You are a clever one, you know." They turn around and see a woman coming in. And it is no other than Lenora, the Gym Leader.
Hawes is overjoyed to see his wife has shown up just in time. Lenora asks Hawes where he first got the mask, and he replies that he found it lying on the ground as the staff workers were carrying in the items for the exhibit. He assumed it was thrown in as an additional artefact, despite having only ordered the Cofagrigus replica.
The mask then reassembles the Dragonite skeleton and Lenora calls out her Watchog which illuminates the room with a blinding light.
"Now Yamask, show yourself." Ash says, and the Pokemon removes itself from Cilan's head and floats towards the ceiling.
Lenora says, "Yamask must have been among the items for the exhibit and must have somehow dropped its mask, which my husband then took as a replica and put on display. She adds that when Yamask realized the whereabouts of its mask, it must have thought it was taken from it."
Yamask nods and Golly says, "So the strange events were made by Psychic, Will-o-Wisp, Rain Dance and Haze..."
awes runs to Lenora's side and sincerely apologizes to Yamask for the misunderstanding, which the Yamask accepts with forgiveness. With the Yamask happy again, Ash exclaims that Yamask is actually a cute Pokémon and Cilan states it has a mysterious taste. After that, Yamask has been playing with the Pokemon until it decides to join Ash's team.
Unova Dex Entry No.69 Yamask: The Spirit Pokemon: Ghost Type. These Pokémon arose from the spirits of people interred in graves. Each retains memories of its former life.
In the next day, Ash asks Lenora for a gym battle, but she says, "Well, I am glad you come far away to challenge the gyms, but you see. There is no gym here anymore."
This causes shocked to the others as Iris says, "Wait, what happened?"
"We decide to make it a museum after the Team Plasma incident, so we have handed the Basic Badge to Asperia City." Hawes says.
"Man… I really want a battle…" Ash says.
"But since you have saved the museum, I can have a battle with you." Lenora says. "Only that there won't be a Gym badge in the end."
The next day, Lenora and her husband take them to a library inside the museum, Lenora says, "My puzzle is an easy one. You just need to find the book, and it will reveal the stairs to the battlefield."
Ash nods and looks at the books carefully, then he pick one and find it.
They have a battle with no badges, Lenora sends out Lillipup first while Ash sends out Tepig. Lillipup uses Roar and Ash sends out Pidove. Then she switches into Watchog and uses Mean Look. But Ash knows the strategy and defeats Watchog with a Air Slash. And Lillipup is defeated by Tepig's Flame Charge.
"With the battle style of yours, you will have no problem on winning." Lenora says as Ash and his friends thank her. Then they leave the gym and bid farewell.
Even though there isn't a gym battle in the Nacrene City, they are still able to partake in the Contest. When they go there, they also see a familiar face.
"Ash! Lillie!" The boy rushes up to them and he greets them.
"Terry!" Ash and Lillie are surprised to see Terry here in the Unova Region. Ash says, "So you are here for the contests, too?"
"Yes. And have you two gone a date?" Terry asks with a smirk, and Lillie says, "Why do you always tease us, first Reisa, then Nate, and now you…"
Terry is surprised and he says, "Wait, Reisa is here, too?"
Ash says, "Yes. She is participating the contests. And speaking of it, how are you and Minami doing?"
Terry blushes and says, "Now you are getting revenge on my words?"
"After all, she is my sister." Ash replies.
After some chatting, they go to the first round. Ash uses Zorua, Pikachu and Infernape to make a imitate show, causing the crowd to laugh. Then Lillie uses Sceptile, Meganium and Snivy to do the Grass type show. Terry uses Purrloin, Scraftry and Sharpedo to make a creepy but fantastic show off. The three all go to the battle rounds.
Lillie is defeated by Terry in the semi finals, since Snivy can't bear working with two lovebirds and Sharpedo and Purrloin are doing great. But Ash manages to use Zorua's illusion to make Terry's Pokemon confused, therefore win the contest.
Back outside, Ash and Lillie introduce Terry to them, then Ash asks, "So Terry, do you have any news regarding Team Rocket?"
"Yes, apparently, they are at the Desert Resort, they are waiting you there." Terry sighs. "Though it was a surprise that you somehow become our boss."
"Yeah. Ever since my mom is gone...Thanks for the warning." Ash says as they bid farewell.
"So Ash, he is also a member of the International Police?" Cilan asks.
"Yes. Right now he has been spying what Team Rocket is doing. And unfortunately, they are targeting me." Ash replies.
"Why are they targeting you?" Iris asks.
"You will find out eventually." Ash doesn't want to say more. So they change the conversation and leave Nacrene City.
On the way, the eggs are hatching, it comes out a Karrablast, a Shelmet and a Scraggy.
Unova Dex Entry No.95 Karrablast: The Clamping Pokemon: Bug Type. For some reason they evolve when they receive electrical energy while they are attacking Shelmet.
Unova Dex Entry No.123 Shelmet: The Snail Pokemon: Bug Type. When it and Karrablast are together, and both receive electrical stimulation, they both evolve.
Unova Dex Entry No.66 Scraggy: The Shedding Pokemon: Dark and Fighting Type. Proud of its sturdy skull, it suddenly headbutts everything, but its weight makes it unstable, too.
Karrablast and Shelmet are happily playing with Zorua and the others, and Scraggy likes to headbutt at others, but after saving Scraggy from a bunch of Galvantula, he gets along well with others.
In Pinwheel Forest, Ash and his friends meet a Sewaddle, they chase him and goes to a big tree. They met the Castelia Gym Leader Burgh there. They have followed Burgh to watch Sewaddle's living style. Then Ash also befriends Sewaddle. Eventually, Ash caught the Sewaddle and Burgh says that he will be waiting at his gym.
Unova Dex Entry No.47 Sewaddle: The Sewing Pokemon: Bug and Grass Type. Since this Pokémon makes its own clothes out of leaves, it is a popular mascot for fashion designers.
On their way to Castelia City, Ash and his friends run into a newly-opened Poké Mart. They decide to go check it out, they see the Pokemon Connoisseur shop, and Ash says, "Wow, I can't believe there is a shop here as well."
"It seems like you know about it as well." Cilan says. Lillie asks, "Now that I think of it, I forgot to ask which rank you are as a Pokemon Connoisseur?"
"Oh, about that, I am an A-class, and only A and S class can provide appraisals." Cilan says. "I also heard that a few years ago, there are two young children that are able to become S class Connoisseur, and being just like them is my dream."
Ash and Lillie then realize that they are actually the ones that are mentioned. But they decide not to reveal it as they want to have their Pokemon checked by the Connoisseur.
However, they were being taken to a Connoisseur called Burgundy, and she says that all of Ash's Pokémon are horrible and recommends he gets rid of all of them and get new ones, and Ash begins to argue with her. She shouts at him that he will never make it in the Unova League, with her bluntness taking Ash aback.
"How dare you talk about my Pokemon like that? What rank even are you anyways?" Ash asks with rage.
But before she can answer, Cilan comes and Burgundy remembers him and she screams. Ash and the rest are confused, but Cilan explains that Burgundy challenged him a while ago, and lost. Burgundy then states that she has been waiting for this day, proclaiming it as her revenge day. Cilan asks why she wants revenge. Burgundy answers that she wants revenge on Cilan, not only because he had defeated her, but also for the hurtful comments he said about her Pokémon. She then conjures up an evil image of Cilan and his Pansage, laughing and mocking her.
Cilan replies that he had never actually did these things to Burgundy. However, Burgundy continues, revealing that she attended the Pokémon Connoisseur Association and earned herself accreditation after undertaking an exam. She returned to the Striaton Gym for the planned revenge, but Cilan had already left on his journey with Ash and his friends, much to Burgundy's total dismay.
"I am sorry, but I can't have an official Gym battle outside of the gym..." Cilan says. Burgundy rubbishes his excuses, and reveal that she earned the Trio Badge after defeating Chili.
Burgundy proclaims that she dreams of opening her own Connoisseur shop, to which Cilan also asks about her class. "I am...C-class."
"C? You are only just a beginner and you can only work as an assistant." Lillie says, and Ash is furious, "She's right, you have no right to judge our Pokemon because of your misguided opinions."
"What do you mean about misguided? I am sure that any other Connoisseur would say the same thing." Burgundy says.
"That's when you are wrong." Cilan says. "Ash and his Pokemon are a perfect combination."
"Besides, you could have lost your title as a Connoisseur by insulting an S-class Connoisseur and his Pokemon as well." Ash says as he takes out his own Connoisseur badge as well as Lillie, much to everyone's surprise.
"Ash? You are a S-Class Connoisseur?" Cilan asks.
"I am, but I have a better plan, Cilan, how about you battle her? If she win, then I'll release all my Pokemon, but if you win, then she will have to leave us alone."
The others seem that Ash is crazy, but the two of them accept. In the end, Cilan is able to win the match, Cilan offers Burgundy some useful advice, however she becomes agitated by yet another lecture. Burgundy replies with dislike and swears that she become an S-class Connoisseur.
With a kind smile, Cilan replies by wishes her all the best, which takes her by surprise. Burgundy rushes off, determined to beat Cilan next time.
"You know, the C-class exam isn't an easy task after all, which is why I don't want to revoke her title yet." Ash says.
"Why did you and Lillie tell me that you two are S-Class Connoisseur?" Cilan asks. "I could have asked a lot of questions from you two."
Lillie says, "Well, we didn't think that it is a big deal..." And Ash and Lillie sigh as they know how Cilan is going to ask them a lot of questions after that.
Here is a new chapter, and Ash didn't get the badge from Lenora since I want the badge to be given by Cheren as it is the Black 2 and White 2 story. Terry is also going to be partaking the contests, and I ship him with Minami. One is a Dark Type Specialist while the other is a Fairy Type Specialist. I think it is a cool combination.
