Chapter 165
.
Note: These characters are all from "Buffy the vampire slayer."
.
Buffy, Giles, Xander, and Willow made another trip to Hell. They were still searching for Buffy's sister Dawn. Dawn had died after the rapture, died saving many lives. Whether that was eough to get her into Heaven, they could not say. And Buffy feared she would spend the rest of her life searching, but she couldn't give up. This particular kingdom offered a few suprises. For one thing, it was cleaner, more like the suburbs. People were friendly towards each other, almost afraid what would happen if they were not. But that was soon explained when they realized who was in charge here. Richard Wilkins, known as the Mayor. Wilkins had been mayor of Sunnydale, he built Sunnydale on the Hellmouth for demons to feed on, all in the hope of becoming a pure demon and conquering the world. He was partly successful, only for Buffy's group to destroy him once he became a pure demon. Now, he had achieved a degree of power here in Hell.
.
Giles: I guess it makes sense, he is after all a politician. Honestly I'm not sure he was much more corrupt than the average politician.
Buffy: Think he could help us find Dawn?
Giles: Perhaps, but what would he demand in return?
Buffy: Whatever it is, I'm willing to pay.
Faith: Glad to hear that B.
.
Buffy and the others looked back, and realized that they had heard correctly. Faith, a vampire slayer, a woman who had been their friend at times and enemy at others, was now here in Hell. In the confusion of the evacuations they hadn't been able to locate Faith, not had they found her in Antarctica after. Now they had confirmation, Faith was in Hell. Although Faith had fught for redemption, it apparently wasn't enough.
.
Xander: Faith, good to see you again. Sorry to see you here.
Buffy: You working for the Mayor again?
Faith: He helps maintain order, a certain standard of living. I don't know how much you've seen, but most parts of Hell aren't nearly this nice.
Willow: We've noticed.
Buffy: Any chance you can help us find Dawn?
Faith: We haven't seen her here.
Xander: So you say.
Faith: Just a thought, if the Mayor had the chance to use your sister as a hostage, do you think he would hide it?
Willow: She does have a point.
Faith: But, we do have resources. Some of our more valuable citizens, we help reunite them with their loved ones.
Giles: I imagine it's also a good way for certain individuals to prove their worth and value.
Faith: Now that you mention it, yes. We can help you find Dawn, but we can't guarantee she's here. If she is, we'll find her.
Giles: At this point, a suspicious man might believe you want us to be in your debt.
Faith: That man would be right. Sometimes the Mayor has a specific favor in mind, but sometimes it's a favor to be named later.
Giles: I hear Lucifer works the same way.
Buffy: I won;t blame you guys if you want to head back, but I need to do this.
Xander: Let's at least hear what Wilkins has to say for himself.
Willow: Can't hurt to listen.
Giles: I believe it can hurt. But we all knew that coming here, saving Dawn, might require a deal with some evil creature. Our place is with you, and your sister. Let's go.
