Prompt: 7. "I'll keep you warm."

A/N: I figure this takes place sometime in season 5, possibly late season 4.

"This is ridiculous," Kensi huffed out angrily as she sloshed into the motel room they'd rented for the night. Deeks followed behind her, not saying anything as she continued muttering. Her shoes made a squishing sound with every step.

They'd been on the road for over 30 hours, half of that time spent in torrential rain that made it difficult to see and navigate. It didn't help that Deeks had been annoying and arousing her in equal measure.

The last straw had been slagging through the parking lot to the dilapidated "office". She was now completely soaked and shivering. And chances were her duffle back was wet too, despite the claim that it was "100% water proof".

She waited impatiently as Deeks unlocked the door with a scratched up key. They were greeted by a blast of cool, musty air as they walked in and Kensi, threw her bag on top of one of the twin beds that dominated most of the room.

"You wanna shower first?" he asked, watching her sympathetically as she shivered in her t-shirt and jeans. He was soaked too; she could see the outline of his pecs through the now sheer material. Of course the idiot couldn't have worn black. "I'll see if I can turn off the AC."

Kensi stalked to the bathroom without responding. She knew she was being unreasonable, but the last few months had been stressful. And it didn't help that she kept thinking about jumping her partner.

20 minutes later, she came out of the bathroom, pulling a towel of her still damp hair. The water had never truly gotten hot, but it was better than nothing she supposed.

Deeks sat on the other bed, his phone in one hand and a half eaten granola bar in the other. He gestured to the the small table in the corner where he'd gathered a collection of food.

"Dinner," he said brightly. Kensi eyed the assortment of bars, chips, and a single cup of strawberry yogurt with a frown. She grabbed the yogurt and ate it, wishing she had a bowl of hot chicken noodle soup instead.

"What did Callen and Sam say?" she asked, gesturing to his phone.

"They'll join us in a couple days."

"I hate them so much right now." Deeks chuckled as he headed to take his own shower.

Even though she'd put on a long sleeve t, leggings and a hoodie, she was still shivering and the blasts of cold air coming from the ceiling weren't helping.

"Aren't you freezing?" she asked when he came back out, dressed in only a t-shirt and shorts.

"No." He watched her a minute and then shrugged and said, "We can share a bed. I'll keep you warm." Kensi rolled her eyes.

"I'm not really in the mood for jokes right now, Deeks."

"I'm not joking."

"If you even think of getting in bed with me, I'll shoot you," she threatened. Deeks tossed his hands in the, apparently fed up with her.

"Fine."

Two hours later, Kensi was still shivering. The blankets were thin, the room was cold and no matter how she turned, she couldn't get warm or comfortable. Deeks was silent in the other bed, but she was pretty certain he wasn't asleep either.

"Deeks," she whispered, turning to face him. He was on his stomach and looked up at her. She didn't say anything, but lifted the blanket, hoping he'd take the hint.

After a moment, he slipped out of his own bed and walked around to the other side of hers. Without a word, he laid down next to her. He wrapped an arm around her waist, but left a few inches between them. Kensi wriggled backwards, seeking out his warmth.

She almost sighed in relief. For the first time in hours, she wasn't cold.

"We won't talk about this in the morning," she murmured sleepily a few minutes later. Deeks huffed out a laugh against her neck.

"Of course not."

A/N: Cause sometimes when you're having a bad day, you just need to snuggle with your partner.
