SmackDown Filming: September 18, 2012

"How did we get back to back matches again?" Randy asks me.

I shrug. "Beats me. I'm facing Natalya again."

"Dolph is opposing me in this Tag Team match that I'm in."

"Everything is starting to feel repetitive."

"I agree. Are you excited for Tyler's birthday party on Saturday?"

"Yes and no, I'm excited to spend time with him, but I'm not very excited about meeting another girlfriend."

"I understand, but you have to give this Lauren a chance, Marissa."

"I know that. I think I'm just getting overprotective because he doesn't seem to have the best tastes."

"I was with Camille at a point too."

"And you told me that I used to have terrible tastes."

"You did though."

"Clearly yours weren't any better."

Randy laughs. "You make a point. Anyway, stop worrying about everything that's going on and just relax tonight."

"I can't relax when I have a match."

"Relax tonight after your match."

"I'll try, but I make no promises."

"Trying is all that I ask for you."

"I can at least try."

Randy smiled. "Good, I think you'll be fine."

"You're the best."

"Well, I think you're the best."

"I don't know what I'm going to do if I lose my rematch against Eve."

"What do you mean you don't know what you're going to do?"

"I love wrestling and clearly just lost my Divas Championship, but I think this Divas division is deteriorating."

"How's that?"

"I don't struggle against many of the girls anymore. The only ones I really struggle with are Beth, Eve, Layla, and Natalya sometimes. I don't know if it's true, but I hear Beth may be leaving the company soon. With Michelle being retired, Beth was really my best competition. The twins left earlier this year too, and despite my personal issues with Brie, I'll admit that they at least gave me decent competition. If Beth leaves and I don't win my Divas Championship back, then I don't know if I'd really feel like wrestling for a while."

"They're paying you just to be on TV. You could be my manager for a while."

"That might not be a bad idea."

("New Foundation" plays)

"The following Divas match is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Natalya!"

I know I want that girl so bad

I lie awake at night

And think of all the things that I would do

With a girl like that…

"And her opponent, from Saint Louis, Missouri, the Queen of Chaos, Marissa Orton!"

Ding! Ding! Ding!

Natalya and I lock up. I take her down to the ground in a Headlock. Natalya escapes and goes to Clothesline me, but I duck and hit Natalya with a hard Right Hand before looking at Eve who was on Commentary. I grab Natalya and Irish Whip her into a corner. I hit Natalya with a few chest chops before lifting her up onto the top turnbuckle. I hit Natalya with a Superplex and pin her.

1…2…kickout!

Natalya goes to punch me, but I block it and kick her in the gut. I hit Natalya with a Swinging Neckbreaker before glancing at Eve once again. Natalya gets up, but I catch her with the Picture Perfect. I pin Natalya while staring directly at Eve.

1…2…3!

"Here is your winner, Marissa Orton!"

I celebrate as the referee raises my arm in the air. I look at Eve once more. She glares at me and raises the Divas Championship in the air. I smirk before gesturing at my waist.

That Divas Championship was going to be mine.

Randy looked at me as we sat together at the hotel, eating dinner. "Are you serious about not being sure if you would want to wrestle for a while if you don't get the Divas Championship back?"

I nod. "I'm fully serious about that. I need good competition to be motivated to wrestle. I think I'm losing that. This division is going the complete opposite way of how I wanted it to be."

"Okay, I'm serious about you just being my manager if you want. I wouldn't have any issues with that. You do help me out a lot. I'm just concerned about you because I've never heard you talk like that about being uninterested in wrestling potentially."

"I think I did one other time."

"When was that?"

"When I was in hospital, after a certain injury which made me vacate the Women's Championship."

"Oh, my bad."

"Yeah, it's alright though. I clearly didn't stop wrestling."

"Yeah, you clearly didn't. If you had decided to, I probably would've showed up at that apartment of yours to make you think it through."

"That would've been kinda funny to see."

"Not if you weren't going to wrestle anymore."

"Well, I'm still a professional wrestler, and if I decided I didn't want to wrestle for a while now, I still wouldn't be retiring." I finished eating. "I think I'm going to read a letter."

"Alright, you do that. I'm sure your therapist will appreciate that."

I look at Randy. "Sometimes I just wanna smack you."

"You wouldn't do that."

I get up and grab the box of letters. "I get pretty close sometimes."

Randy rolls his eyes. "I know you wouldn't do it though. You like me too much, Rissa."

I roll my eyes, making fun of him. "Whatever, Randal."

I open the box of letters and grab my reading glasses. I put my reading glasses on before opening the letter numbered twenty-nine.

Date: December 25, 2004

Dear Marissa, I've always regretted not being able to have you and Tyler for the holidays after I left Saint Louis. However, this Christmas, it is hitting much harder.

Neither you or Tyler are talking to me at this point, but I have hopes that will change in the future. I'll have to find a way to get you to give me another chance and a way to get Tyler to give me any chance. Maybe next year, I can have at least one of you around for Christmas next year.

Love, Mom

I put the letter back in its envelope before putting it back in the box.

Randy watches me carefully. "Are you alright?"

I nod as I sit down on the edge of the bed. "I'm alright. When will you let me go to bed?"

"You can go to bed now if you want."

"Well, I'm going to bed."

"Okay. Goodnight."
