Family of Two.
Chapter 196: the loss of one Lewis.
(Fresno California.)
The flight there is very, unsettling, and right now everyone in the dropship are silent and don't seem like talking. Lincoln and Luna sit close to each other, with Harriet looking out the window and sitting cross them, are Delilah and her mother, Michelle Lewis.
The woman is silent and has been since she came back home after her day of work, and right after the tears she cried out after she read the letter in the mail.
Delilah sits next to her mother and she does what she can to comfort her after knowing what had happened to the man who would've been known as her great grandfather. Delilah never got to meet him, not even once.
The dropship arrives to the great Lewis Estate, and they all look outside and see the place, for Delilah, she is amazed at the location and the size it's made of. "Whoa!"
Michelle smiles at her daughter and how she's fascinated by the sight of this large mansion, and the land that comes with it. "Delilah, this is your first time to be here, at the location I now own… This is gonna be hard, for me." She goes back to her seat, and this makes Delilah hug her.
Michelle wipes away a few tears, she's still saddened from the loss of the grandfather who is gone, the one who let her have what was within the deed and the one who still saw her as family and never did give up on her.
The dropship lands on the helipad of the mansion, and a man is there waiting for them. None other than the grand uncle of Michelle: Edgar M. Lewis, the dropship opens and Michelle and the others see the man.
"Michelle, it is good to see you once again, child and…." Edgar sees the girl with her. "You must be my… Great grandniece, it is such an honor to meet you, Delilah."
Delilah nods. "It's an honor to meet you too sir, and this place is really, really big and lovely too."
Edgar chuckles. "Hmm, seems like she has that curious and adventurous side that you had as well. Now come, we have much to discuss and some family is here as well."
They all follow the man into the mansion, then Lincoln asks him. "Sir, are the other Lewis family here?"
"Sadly no" replied Edgar. "They will be around when the funeral begins, but they're not allowed anywhere near the mansion and my brother, Joey is making sure of it. As we recall, my brother Bernard seemed quite disappointed at what has become of the other family members and may have lost some trust from them, but they mean well and things have been arranged for the funeral."
Michelle could tell that something was up and she knows this has something to do with the damned family who left her for dead. She hopes this isn't going to be as the same as the damned issue when she couldn't go to see her parents funeral.
They all enter the living room, and there they see it. The coffin, and within it is the man who has passed away recently, and sitting on a chair next to the coffin is his son: Bernardo Kennedy B. Lewis or Bernard Lewis Jr. and next to him, holding his hand is his wife, Alexandra Lewis and they're infant son, Bernie the 3rd.
Bernard Jr sees his niece and he gets up and goes over and the two of them embrace. "I'm so sorry for what had happened" replied Michelle with tears as she tries to comfort her uncle. "I wish i… I just wish I was there before he left."
"We didn't see it coming, we didn't know he would be gone before he woke up days ago" replied Bernard. They depart from the hug and he sees the teenage girl with Michelle. "You must be my grandniece I suppose."
"Hello sir, my name is Delilah Lewis Loud, it's a pleasure to meet you and your wife."
Bernard Jr smiles. "Good to see some new family." He then looks towards Michelle. "And I am happy that you gave this girl a home and a name to live by, someone like her deserves it. Good job, Michelle."
Michelle nods. "I did what I had to. She reminded me of myself, and I wanna be there for her, to guide her through her life and make sure she doesn't make the same mistakes as I did."
Delilah goes over and she meets with Alexandra and her infant son. While Michelle goes to the coffin of the man she knew and always loved, and watches his lifeless old form within.
The louds, and Bernard Jr, along with Edgar watch this happen and are saddened by this. "Michelle was really heart broken when she read the note dudes" replied Luna.
"How can she not?" said Edgar. "This is the man, and family member, amongst some of the others who never saw her as someone to be outcasted and always had hope that she was still the same Michelle we all knew and loved, and she is still that same Michelle we have come to always know and love."
"Because she was someone who could be changed and taught down a different path" replied Bernard Jr. "Just as I was, and unlike my siblings, I was taught differently and helped remake the companies into something that would show that we're not the same mean Lewis's of the past."
Luna looks to the man. "Where are your siblings anyway?"
Bernard didn't have to tell them, but they needed to know. "At this time, kept far away from the mansion and Estate. I know one thing, and that one thing is that my brothers and sister will not stop till they get their hands on what they deserve and seek and we know what they want…"
They all understand what he means. "The deed, the money and this mansion, as well as the estate" replied Lincoln. "Good call to keep them from the place, otherwise this place would turn into a full-scale chaotic warzone where no one would be walking away from."
"Yeah…." Bernard Jr looks to Harrier. "No chance to see if my father is still around?"
Harriet sighs. "Bernard Junior, you're father has done what he needed and the last piece of unfinished business he had in mind was to ensure that Michelle was never outcasted by the family name, and after the reunion from last month, that deed is done and he has no purpose to linger here on earth.'
'He might not be with us here in the world of the living and he doesn't seem to be here in the world of the ethereal. He will be watching over from above, and within the hearts of those who will remember him for the changed and trustworthy man that he was and forever will be."
Edgar wipes away some tears. "If only he were here to meet this child that Michelle had taken in, he would be overjoyed and possibly have a heart attack." This makes them chuckle a bit and they see Michelle whispering to the deceased man and she sheds some tears.
Delilah goes over and embraces her mother, and Lincoln and Luna go over and do the same. She truly is heartbroken from the loss of her grandfather.
Delilah looks to the deceased elderly within the coffin and goes closer to him. "I wish, I wish I did come to know you and… Maybe we could've talked and had some bonding times…. But, I am glad you among the others still trusted Michelle, who I call mom and will forever be grateful for what she has given to me, a family."
Michelle overhears this and she goes over and hugs her daughter and she hugs her back. Both of them crying from knowing that this man who is Delilah's great grandfather is now gone.
Harriet looks towards Edgar. "I assume that the funeral will be coming soon?"
Edgar nods. "Yes, we will have it on March the 13th, which will be a long way to go, but the right thing to do. Because that was the day Bernard Sr founded the company and made it into something more. You and the others are also invited, and we will ensure that the rest of the family does no harm or cause any trouble."
"You have my word and the word of my other brother, Joey."
Harriet nods and she watches as Michelle and Delilah look onto the coffin one more time. "Goodbye grandfather, and I do hope we can meet again, someday." Michelle and Delilah walk away from the coffin and join Lincoln and the others.
Alexandra then looks to her husband and she nods, she signals to him that it was time and Bernard Sr knows that the time has come. The man goes over to the drawers and he grabs a briefcase and he hands it to Michelle.
"Here, I believe this is yours now."
"What?" Michelle takes the briefcase and sees that it was the deed to the mansion and the land that goes with it, and the keys to the mansion are there as we,, but there are copies of the keys towards Bernie, Edgar and Joey since they are trusted.
Then Michelle sees the check and the number on it is 250 billion dollars, as promised that the 500 billion would be split between Michelle and Bernard Jr. Michelle looks to the deed and then she sees the copy of the will that was from Bernard Sr.
She wipes away some tears, she recalls he spoke of this from the reunion and it made her surprised that she now owns the mansion.
She then looks to her uncle. "Thank you, for this and I will do what I can to make sure that everything won't go into the wrong hands."
"I trust you Michelle" replied Bernard Jr. "Just as my father did and always has, I know that you and the Louds will enjoy the mansion, and whatever plans you have for the billions of dollars. The deed says it true and so you along with Luna Loud own the rights to the Lewis Mansion…"
"Once the funeral is done" replied Edgar. "Which does come to thought, do you intend to stay here when the whole service is done? You do seem to like living in Royal Woods with the louds?"
Alexandra goes to them and with her infant son asleep in her arms. "We know you wouldn't wish to leave the home and family you now have. What do you wanna do with the mansion and estate and not to mention the money?"
Lewis looks to the louds, Harriet and Delilah, it was time to tell them and so tell them they will. Michelle looks to the remaining Lewis' she trusts. "The money will be secured and safe, and will be used for when the time is right and for emergencies only. Plus, I still work at the Mall in Royal Woods."
"Well, that seems fair enough" replied Edgar. "But what of the estate? The massive land is large enough to fit…."
"Donate it to the city." That one caught them off guard. "When the time comes, I want the city to make of this and I will talk to the mayor on turning this estate into a lovely park for everyone to enjoy and have fun, mostly families."
"Wow…. That is… Damn, my father would be proud of you" replied Bernard Jr. Even his wife liked this idea, they could enjoy some family time at the soon to come: Lewis M. Park.
But then Edgar asks. "But, if we are to turn the Estate into a park… What about the mansion?"
Michelle was now ready to tell them the next phase. "We're gonna have it teleported to Royal Woods."
Now that one has them silent. "What?" They have a lot to explain to them, and to also inform Joey of this as well, for what is to come on March 13.
A/N: Rest in peace, Bernardo Sr, and we know he'll be proud of the choice that Michelle has made, and be ready guys, because on March 13 is the funeral and the day the Lewis mansion gets moved. Leave a review and tell me what you all think.
