Family of Two.
Chapter 197: Happy B-day, Leni Lauren.
(February 28. The Loud House.)
It is early morning, and the family of the house is awake and ready for this day ahead of them.
Lincoln, Luna, Michelle, Harriet and of course, Delilah are all ready to leave the house for the day, to go someplace important and they check if they have everything with them.
"Okay, so we got the cake and pretty much everything else we need and we have the transportation for us to use for when we get to the location, and we also need to pick up the others" replied Michelle. "Such as, Jackie, Mandee, Fiona, Miguel, Sam, Jordan and of course, Albert and Myrtle. We know they wanna be part of this."
"And also Lucy, and the twins, Lola and Lana, which is a shame that Lisa doesn't wanna be part of this. She really needs to accept that she can be forgiven and try to look to the good side of this new life. Then we head to the juvenile detention center and pick up the other extra cargo who really wants to be part of this, and I hope she's ready to go and see her."
"Chances Lori will, and she wouldn't wanna miss her first best friend's 17th birthday party" replied Lincoln. He places his gift onto the ground and recalls something. "Dang, it's been this long and not even a year since Leni was in that mental hospital and even though she's changed from her old ditzy self…"
"…She still has a heart of gold, and that's what makes Leni, well Leni." Luna then places her gift next to Lincoln's and she uses her phone to contact the ride.
Michelle and Lincoln see Delilah walking out of the house alongside Harriet, and the 13 year old is wearing a light green skirt, dark grey hoodie and white socks with brown shoes. "You okay there?" asked Michelle.
Delilah sighs. "Sorry. This is my first time to… Well, get to meet the rest of your family and also be there when Lori tags along, but I know she'll be proud of me for changing after she helped me and she'll also be happy that I made amends with all of you."
Harriet grins. "Chances she'll be in utter shock when she finds out that you have become a loud, it is way too obvious and the same will go for Leni. But, they will be happy for you and possibly see you as family too."
"Harriet's not wrong" replied Lincoln. They then hear the sound of something coming and they look up. "Well, here's the ride. Looks like it's time to move out." They grab the stuff they plan to bring and head towards the dropship that lands in front of them.
They got a special someone to go and meet up with, for one awesome and unexpected surprise. But first, they need to pick up a few good and very friendly folks.
(Medical treatment and rehabilitation facility, Bay City.)
A bright and sunny day has come, and as of now the nicest person in the whole mental hospital, Leni Lauren wakes up to the sound of her alarm clock blaring and so she gets out of bed and she turns it off. Leni yawns and stretches and she gets out of bed and walks to her bathroom and she passes by her calendar and doesn't notice what she marked down.
Leni then gets dressed and drinks her coffee, and then she grabs her clipboard and she goes through what she needs to do for the day. "Alright, so Jake needs some help with his temper and also his issues in being too judgey and annoying."
"Then I need to speak with Leonard and his complex condition on thinking there's an alien under his bed, then Danielson and his phobia on invisible things and lastly I need to see if Gloria is doing fine after her treatment on her paranoia on giant mice."
Leni leaves the room and she walks down the halls. She then checks the rooms and she notices… The patients are gone. "Hmm, this is odd. Maybe they all went for some breakfast."
She continues to walk down the halls and sees that even the offices of the doctors and staff members are empty. "Okay, now this is becoming odd. Is there an emergency drill going on? But, then I would hear the alarm."
Leni continues to walk, and she doesn't notice the cameras looking at her. Leni then spots a sign on the wall and she reads it. "Please go to the patients break room." Leni has doubts and this kinda reminds her of Luan and that prank she fell for.
"Might as well get this over with and I hope this isn't a prank or something." She continues down the hall and she sees the doors that lead to the room she's supposed to go and by the time she reaches it.
"SURPRISE!"
Leni is surprised and yelps from the whole ordeal. "Wait, what?!" Leni can see that everyone she knows and loves are there. Such as the patients and staff, and even some of the guards.
Leni then sees the decorations and the color is a mix of pink, gold and teal and then she sees the banner and what it says. "Hold up, it's my birthday?! Wait, did I forget my…. Dang it, too busy checking on work."
Michelle goes over to her. "Leni calm down, we get that you were busy and too occupied, but be happy that we all came and made this happen, happy birthday Leni Lauren."
She sees her friends from High School: Jackie and Mandee, and then she sees her friends that she knew once at the mall, Fiona and Miguel and then she sees the family she once knew and loved. Albert, Myrtle, Lucy, Lola and Lana and even Sam and Jordan are there for the occasion and then she sees Lincoln and Luna, but what surprises her the most… Is Lori.
Leni goes over and she hugs the twins and then Lucy, and the three former younger louds hug her. "Happy Birthday Leni!"
"Thanks you guys." Leni then looks around and sees someone is missing. "Where's Lisa? Didn't she wanna come too?"
Lucy is the one who speaks. "Sorry, Leni. But Lisa still has her own issues to deal with and one of them is trying to learn how to forgive herself after everything that's happened. She's only 4."
"And she's gonna be 5 when next month rolls in" replied Lola.
"But we can't just force her to come to something, she wants to try and figure things out on her own" replied Lana. "With her new family trying to help her."
Leni felt a bit disappointed, but she understood. "I guess that's okay, but soon when I do take my leave from this place, then perhaps I can talk to her and see what's wrong. I have been doing a great help with the folks here."
The staff and patients all agree. "She's not wrong." This makes them all laugh a bit.
"Hi sis." Lori goes over and she embraces Leni and Leni does the same and sheds some tears.
"Lori… You're here and…" Leni departs from the hug. "Lori?! Why are you here? What about…"
"That can wait later, I got the whole day to spend with you and I'll be back in juvie by the end of the day, but right now…. Be happy that you have friends and family to celebrate this day with you, you're 17th birthday. Happy birthday Leni."
They depart from the hug and Leni goes over to hug her friends. "I'm so happy that you guys showed up. It's always nice to see some friendly faces from the home I once lived in."
"Yeah, but soon you'll come back and be part of it again" replied Jackie.
"We could've brought some of the others, but we thought some friends that you have come to know for so long is a good start" replied Mandee.
"Ms. Carmichael is busy with something else, so she asked us to bring you the gift she has for you" replied Miguel. "We even brought a cake and some other snacks."
"We know you Leni, and we may not be family, but we seem to treat each other as such and truth be told, Ms. C actually wanted to hire you back then."
Leni is surprised by this. "Whoa, really? I did not see that coming. A shame I won't be working for her at the mall by the time I get to Royal Woods soon."
Michelle chuckles. "Who says it's too late to try? Chances you might get the job." Now that was enough to give Leni some hope to one day be part of the clothes store she knows and loves.
Leni then sees two people who are as important as anything in her life, Lincoln and Luna Loud. Leni wipes away some tears and she goes over and hugs them both. "Happy birthday Leni!"
Leni cries a bit, but she stops and she kisses Luna and Lincoln on their forehead. "Thanks for coming guys, and I could only guess you two helped make this whole party possible, and must've taken an early start to make it happen."
Luna chuckles. "You have no idea dude, we had to pull some strings and make some calls, and it was all worth it. For you, sis."
Lincoln then kisses Leni on her cheek. "We didn't wanna miss out on this, you're 17 now Leni and soon you will be let out, on your own terms and then we can see each other when we go back to Royal Woods."
Harriet then steps forth. "The offer to stay at our home is still up for grabs and we have so much more to tell you, especially with the newest member to the family."
Leni smiles. "The offer is nice and all, but I have my own plans and one of them is staying at a home I can find on my own and…" She then realizes what she had just said. "Wait, new member to the family?"
Michelle then holds the hand of Delilah and she shows her to Leni. "Leni, this is the girl I adopted and from the same place where Lori used to be, this is Delilah Lewis Loud."
Delilah waves to Leni nervously. "Hello, good to see you for the first time, Leni."
Leni is surprised, but not Lori, she was told along the way. "Delilah is someone I… I helped, and she was freed for good behavior and is now living a good life, with them."
Leni walks over to Delilah and she hugs the 13-year old. "Congrats on being part of the Louds, Delilah and I look forward to the other visits and when we meet when I head back to Royal Woods this summer."
Delilah always loved these kinds of hugs, ever since she became part of the louds, and so she hugs Leni back and then Lori joins in and then Linc, Luna and Michelle.
(Later.)
Everyone enjoys the party and they even watch some nice shows, and learn some things that Leni has done, and the staff and patients can tell them that. Lucy records what they're saying so that Lisa can hear this back in Royal Woods. She'll wanna know how smart Leni has become and how much of a good help she has been.
And Leni isn't even certified to be a psychiatrist and yet she has helped more patients recover from their mental issues. Lisa will truly be amazed.
Delilah interacts with Leni and so does Luna, Lincoln and Michelle. Even Lori speaks with them. "So glad this party was made and thanks for making it so possible guys" replied Leni.
"Like we said, it was a group effort and we know that this day means a lot to you, and to us as well" replied Lincoln. "We hope you like the gifts when you open them later."
Leni chuckles. "Oh, I will. I'll open them later, when the party is over and I'll treasure them no matter what they are, because what matters is the sentimental value of who made and gave them. We may not be related by last name, but we're still family, always."
They always felt moved when they hear Leni say words about family, and then Lincoln, Luna, Michelle, Harriet and Delilah believe that it was time, and they look to each other and nod, which gets the attention from Lori and Leni.
"Are you guys okay?" asked Leni.
"What's going on?" asked Lori. "I literally sense that something is up with you guys."
Michelle then tells them. "Leni, Lori. We have something big going to happen on March 13, and we need to know if you two wanna be part of it… For when you two finally get released."
They secretly tell them about the plan, the funeral and the mansion that is going to be moved and this shocks Lori and Leni. They need some time to think about this, which won't be easy to take in.
But for now, Leni should treasure the moments she's gonna have here at the Bay City Medical treatment and rehabilitation facility, with those she calls friends and family.
Happy Birthday Leni Lauren.
